GlamNation Vol 1. is a compilation of unsigned bands.
23 bands contribute to the CD and it is a mixed bag. Not everyone fits in the Glam category, but we get around most genres from Back Crowes alike rock from SilverDirt, to the punky rock from Random
Riot plus Hollywood Vampires and Rockabilly from Love Dictator.
The bands that make impact are:
Silver Trigger, which fires off
Bourbon Street with lots of energy and drive.
Pretty Wild is a trip back to the Sunset Strip late eighties era. Their contribution
Dangerous captures the attention right away with hooks.
Right now the leading Glam scene is happening in cold and snowy Sweden. 3 bands from Sweden participate and they are all among the highlights. Lipstixx N' Bulletz has a guitar sound very alike
Pretty Boy Floyd and
Love in a Needle grows on you. The band just got signed to Sleaszy Rider records. Panzer Princes sounds like old school
Hanoi Rocks with David Roach from
Junkyard and Mickey Finn from
Jetboy splitting the vocals. The last Swedish band
Leaded Fuel fires off
Leaded fuel - look out for a review of their demo CD soon.
Jagged also deserves a mention. They are not Glam, but good time Rock N' Roll. The riff for
Wake Up is superb and hopefully they will continue making music in their quest to get a record deal
GlamNation vol 1. is a great presentation of underground bands struggling to get signed. Overall the sound quality of the songs is great. With 23 bands you get both the good and bad. A band like Jason Takes Manhatten sounds out of place.
Overall the compilation manages to capture the listener's attention on several bands. Unfortunately the booklet has no information on the various band s like a short biography or web links.
The record company 272 Records already has volume 2 coming up
