Playlist - January/February 2008 - Steen
Sister Sin - Smash the silence - 5-track EP (Hard Rock)
Surprise of the month. Great in your face hard rock.

Alice Cooper - Welcome to my Nightmare (Rock)
Been listening a lot to this one lately. There is a timeless feel to the music, which constantly surprises and impresses with its ideas. An album that is dripping with atmosphere.

Avantasia - Lost in Space Part I and II (Avantasia.... not)
Lost in Space: 2 listens and it became quite annoying.
Lay all your love on me: A terrible cover version of this ABBA song.
Another Angel Down: This is more like it. A solid song. Jorn = Yay!
The Story ain't over: Extremely melodic and Meat Loafy, but Tobias is still a long way from becoming the next Jim Steinman. Towards the end the song loses some of its initial impression.
Ride the Sky: Good song, but not exactly Avantasia material.
Promised Land: A nice song. Jorn Lande is always a pleasure.
Dancing with tears in my eyes: Melodic overload. Another nice song with an infectous chorus line.
Scary Eyes: More Edguy than Avantasia.
In my defense: That chorus sounds strangely familiar, but in Tobias' defense he delivers a strong performance. Great ballad.
Lost in Space - Alive at Gatestudio: A stripped down version of the song and much much better than the overpolished official version.
Overall an OK release, but both EP's lack that certain Avantasia magic I was hoping for and none of the songs match any of those that came before. I still have hope that the new Avantasia will deliver the goods. Time will tell.

Coheed and Cambria - No world for tomorrow
Highly interesting and varied album. I have only just gotten started on this one.

Lost Horizon - A Flame To The Ground Beneath (Heavy Metal)
One of the very best metal releases of the past many years.

Manowar - The Triumph of Steel (Heavy Metal)
My celebration of the half year anniversary until the Magic Circle Festival 2008 commences was held with this classic piece of Heavy Metal. Manowar's most diverse album.

Stan Bush - The Child Within (Rock)
A soft, passionate and delicate album. Highly recommended.

Stan Bush - Every Beat of My Heart (Rock)
A bit more rocking than "The Child Within". Very promising album with several great songs.

Stan Bush - Shine (Rock)
Gems like I Will Be There and The Chance You Take are standouts on a slick melodic rock offering.

Gypsy Pistoleros (Hard Rock)
High Energy Punk Salsa that brings back fond memories of a great UK tour last year.

Thunder - Backstreet Symphony (Hard Rock)
Thunder's debut album shines with energy. Another great discovery.

Donnie Vie - Extra strength (Acoustic Rock)
Donnie's acoustic interpretation of my favorite Enuff Z'nuff album shines new light on an old classic.

Nanowar - Other bands play, Nanowar gay! (Parody Metal)
With songs like Tricycles of Steel, Power Of The Power Of The Power Of The Power (Of The Great Sword), Number of the Bitch and lyrics that are laugh out loud funny this is an extremely entertaining metal parody album. Manowar, Rhapsody, Iron Maiden and several others all get a healthy dose of true humor.

Didn't picture you as an Oasis fan Steen :)

I don't have Stop the Clocks but it seems to have a decent tracklisting. Pretty much everything off the first two albums (plus the b-sides album) is great. Not a massive fan of their later stuff though.

I guess I still have a few suprises up my sleeve :)
I haven't followed them since way back when where I dangled hazily around singing "Don't look back in anger" every other weekend, so I thought this was a nice chance to revisit them. Some great songs there.

The Naowar stuff could have been good but the singer is just awful one of the most awful singers I ever heard. The text though are quite funny especially Number of the bitch
