Friday, July 31, 2009 - MetalMind Release News
"Edge Of Night", a DVD of British neo-progressive rock band Shadowland, will finally be available on 10th August in Europe and 11th August in USA. The DVD features an exquisite feast of superb musicianship brought to you by Clive Nolan (Pendragon, Caamora, Arena, Neo), Mike Varty (Landmarq, Credo, Jannison Edge, and Mick Pointer's project Script for a Jester's Tour), Karl Groom (a well-known music producer on the prog rock scene and a member of Threshold and Strangers on a Train), Mark Westwood (Caamora, Neo), and Nick Harradence (NW10). It includes almost 2 hours of footage, presenting songs from Shadowland's classic albums performed by the elite of the scene!

Today you can have a look at a sneak preview of the DVD on Metal Mind Productions' channel on YouTube. You can watch there two tracks taken from the DVD: "A Matter of Perspective" and "The Hunger".

Get ready for a strong dose of progressive metal! Metal Mind Productions presents the first live album by one of best progressive metal bands - Andromeda. This Swedish quintet offers the fans of powerful and sublime sound compositions that are both structurally intricate and overflowing with a vast spectrum of emotions. "Playing Off The Board" includes live performance recorded at the Wyspianski Theater, Poland in Autumn 2006, when the band was promoting their most recent album at the time "Chimera". The band's first live release features over one hour of progressive music at its very best. Digipak edition is limited to 1000 copies.

"Playing Off The Board" is scheduled for release on 24th August in Europe and 6th October in USA (via MVD).

Sinergy is one of the most exceptional power metal acts ever to emerge on the Scandinavian scene. Considered a super-group this project managed to combine all the best elements of power, melodic, death and heavy metal, ultimately creating their own recognizable style. Originally, the idea to form the project came in 1998 from vocalist Kimberly Goss (who was at the time the keyboard player for Dimmu Borgir; in the past she performed with such bands as Therion and Avernus) and guitarist Jasper Strömblad (known from In Flames). The two met during a joint world tour and discussed the possibility of forming a female-fronted metal act. The idea was put on hold for some time, but soon after Goss left Dimmu Borgir and moved to Sweden, Sinergy once again became a subject of many discussions. Finally, with the addition of guitarist Alexi "Wildchild" Laiho (Children of Bodom), drummer Ronny Milianowicz (Dionysus) and bassist Sharlee D'Angelo (Arch Enemy, Mercyful Fate, Spiritual Beggars), Sinergy became a fact and the collective begun working on their debut material.

Today Metal Mind Productions presents exclusive re-releases of Sinergy's complete discography, including "Beware the Heavens", "To Hell and Back" and "Suicide By My Side", showcasing the sheer brilliance of one of Finland's most talented metal groups.

Sinergy's re-issues will be available in new digipak editions, each limited to 2000 copies. The material was digitally remastered using 24-Bit process. The release date is scheduled for 24th August in Europe and 6th October in USA (via MVD).

Mystic Prophecy is present on the power metal scene since 2000 and in just nine years they earned the title of one of the most talented bands in the genre's history. The group was formed in 2000 in Germany, when four musicians -  vocalist Roberto Dimitri Liapakis (Valley's Eye), bassist Martin Albrecht (Valley's Eye, ex-Stormwitch), drummer Dennis Ekdahl (Raise Hell, In Cold Blood) and guitarist Gus G. (Firewind, Nightrage, Dream Evil, Arch Enemy) - decided to join forces in a new power metal project which they named Mystic Prophecy. While power metal was no longer as popular as it was in the 80's or even the 90's, the band decided to stay true to their concept and write material that easily combined both classic and modern schools of metal.

These exclusive re-releases of the group's first three albums - "Vengeance", "Regressus" and "Never Ending" showcase the amazing skills of the band that put power metal back on the musical pedestal.

Mystic Prophecy's re-issues will be available in new digipak editions, each limited to 2000 copies. The material was digitally remastered using 24-Bit process. Metal Mind Productions set the release date for 24th August in Europe and 6th October in USA (via MVD).

Thursday, May 28, 2009 - SPV Declared Insolvent
News from Billboard.biz:

SPV Schallplatten Produktion und Vertrieb GmbH in Hanover has declared itself insolvent.

The managing partner, Manfred Schütz, decided to submit an application to commence insolvency proceedings on May 25 - roughly equivalent to Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. In response to this, on May 27, the District Court of Hanover appointed the attorney Manuel Sack as the provisional insolvency administrator. "Normal business will continue even after the application for insolvency," said Schütz.

According to Schütz, together with attorney Manuel Sack, the management of SPV GmbH will not only carry on business operations, but also continue working in the areas of production and distribution in the usual way.

The purpose of the case now in progress is to make it possible for SPV to continue on the basis of a restructuring plan to be jointly drawn up. According to a statement issued, the aim is not only to secure as many jobs as possible in the long term, but also to retain the justified confidence of its customers and suppliers, built up over a period of 25 years.

SPV was founded by Manfred Schütz in 1984. The company is considered to be one of the leading international heavy metal labels and includes groups such as Böhse Onkelz, Fury in the Slaughterhouse, Kreator and Motörhead as well as non-metal acts such as John Lee Hooker.

According to sources, other recording companies are interested in buying SPV although no names have been mentioned.

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 - SPV-TV premieres
Press Release from SPV:

SPV-TV ONLINE NOW!

Wacken 2007 special featuring Iced Earth, Type O Negative, Saxon, Sodom, Moonspell, Hatesphere and Engel

Eagerly awaited by countless fans and meticulously prepared, SPV are proud to announce their SPV-TV Internet podcast, about to go on the net. Visit www.spv.de/tv and find out everything you always wanted to know about the current SPV roster. SPV-TV will introduce acts, interview the label's artists, broadcast previews of upcoming releases, and feature the latest video clips, tour dates etc. With immediate effect, the podcast will feature topical news from the SPV camp, true to the motto: What's hot to see? See it on SPV-TV!

Our presenter Sir Jay will guide you through the programme with his inimitable sense of humour and great expertise. Viewers can look forward to lots of humorous and not always entirely serious, but always informative talks and interviews.

Part I features a Wacken 2007 special that sees Sir Jay brave all kinds of trials and tribulations - such as mud and flames - to risk a look into the crystal ball with one of Germany's most important thrash metal acts, Sodom. Together with Saxon's Biff Byford, Sir Jay reminisces about the glorious 1980s, when rock'n'roll was still wild and debauchery-filled and obliging groupies were delighted to lend a helping hand to a musician. Part I of SPV-TV already enjoys cult status!

Parts II and III also cover the WOA 2007, documenting Sir Jay's encounters with Type O Negative, Moonspell, Iced Earth, Hatesphere and Engel, among others. In addition, Type O Negative guitarist Kenny Hickey is giving away a green Schecter guitar. All the more reason to watch SPV-TV!
