A new Jorn Lande solo album has been announced!!! Ohhh happy days are here again! So here's what's been playing as of late:

Masterplan - Aeronautics
This is just a fabulous album from start to finish. I love the crunchiness, the emotional power and even the lyrics - which have received a bashing from some, but they express the torment and anguish and so forth, just fine. Jorn's expressive, soulful voice helps though. A brilliant one that's for sure.

Bob Catley - Spirit of Man
Bob-Cat always manages to come up with a great solo offering no matter who he has penning his album for him. I thought for sure that since the Ten influence was completely gone for the first time that this wouldn't quite measure up (Hughes and then the very talented Hodson wrote his other albums). But I should have more faith in his ear for music..

Magnum - On A Storyteller's Night
This is about as classic as you can get when it comes to Magnum. The Clarkin/Catley teamup was at its height here as can be heard on stuff like "Broken Arrow". Lots of keyboards and very pompy.

Guns N Roses - Use Your Illusion I
Nothing brightens up a pissy day than "Bad Apples". Cos it takes one bad apple to ruin the whole damn bunch. Yea! Axl is not the best singer, but Slash sure knows his way around a fretboard.

Bad Habit - Hear-Say
Good stuff... I just reviewed it so not much else to add here. :D

Tony O'Hora - Escape Into the Sun
Such a fabulous release this one is, but that's to be expected since it was penned by Magnus Karlsson (Starbreaker and Allen/Lande writer) and he also plays all the instruments. Tony is the singer and this is like a revistation to his days with Praying Mantis. Great stuff and highly recommended!

TNT - Transistor
For some reason this has not left my personal rotation in about a year. It is not my favorite TNT album, but it has a certain sound and appeal that their other stuff just doesn't contain. "Mousetrap" and "Because I Love You" are the favorites here. Oh and as for my choice of best TNT album? "Intuition" of course.

Def Leppard - Adrenalize
Another album that didn't recieve as much praise as it should have but that I still love. There are some key songs here that go down as some of my Def-favs. "Stand Up (Kick Love Into Motion)", "Tonight", "Have U Ever Needed Someone So Bad"... all mid tempo or straight up ballads but they just come across with such honest magic that its hard to not go back and listen without a smile on your face. The hit from the disc, "Lets Get Rocked" kinda sucks now though. I knew it then but its even more evident now. Eww.
