Chimaira - Chimaira
I just cannot leave this album, Chimaira has moved into my favourite of 2005 so far, pushing Opeth down to second, with their hard, aggressive thrash metal. Not an easy task.

God Forbid - IV: Constitution
Modern metal with good old metal anthems a modern blast from the past. God Forbid have really improved their writing skills and created a super solid album!

Pantommind - Shade of Fate
I cannot understand why these five Bulgarian wizards are not more known and adored than they are. I rank them just as high as Dream Theater on the prog. metal ladder.

Hades - Nothing Succeeds like Success
Finally we are able to get the two "classic" Hades releases on cd (Resisting Success and If at First You don't). It's been a very very long wait, but it's been worth it.

Morbid Angel - Alters of Madness
A death metal classic that still sounds as fresh as it did, when it was released in 89.

Nevermore - This Godless Endeavour
Probably the best Nevermore album recorded to date, Nevermore is harder, tighter and better than they have been before.

Opeth - Ghost Reveries
Dark, divine, Opeth.

Symphony X - The Divine Wings of Tragedy
"Divine Wings" hasn't been getting any play for the last couple of years, but lately it's been spun quite a lot, and to me it's still the best release by Symphony X.

Psychotic Waltz - Bleeding
Sadly Bleeding was the last release from Psychotic Waltz, but what a way to go, I know the hard core "Waltz" fans only have pity for Mosquito and Bleeding, claiming that they are too commercial. I don't really care, they are great albums, both of them!
