Covered Call - Money Never Sleeps Better then Fair Warning shock! With the incomparable Thomas Vikstrom on vocals. Review to follow soon. Elektradrive - Living 4 Sometimes you wonder where "veterans" of the rock scene get their continued motivation. This 8th album from Italian band, Elektradrive, has all the youthful verve and vigour of MHR debutantes. It's brimful of edgy, tuneful songs, switching back and forth between brightly lit, harmonised mhr and bruising heavy rock, not a million miles away from Kings X.
Eye - 2 Hearts On the strength of this mini album, Eye are just as much the Great White Hope of European AOR as Heat and Brother Firetribe. The immense title track is truly addictive. I've lost count of the number of times I've played it, and it has the same uplifting impact every time. Stevie Salas - Be What It Is Salas has been round the block a bunch of times. Though judging by his debut album, you'd swear he was born with a few thousand miles on the clock. 'Be What It Is' proves the precision machined engine is still running sweetly, fuelled by funk and firing on all six. (and any other motoring related clichés you can think of). Review to follow. Nothing More - The Few Not Fleeting Full of innovative, imaginative, state of the art production touches and songs that get so intense sometimes they burn right off the page. Scalpel sharp songwriting. Slick, spacey programming and loud, biting guitars. All combine to fabulous effect. One to watch, very closely. Syrym - S/T With two of the four members being ex of eighties / nineties melodic rock band, Babylon AD, Syrym have already gained the attention of many melodic rock fans. Of course, the music then has to hold their attention, otherwise they're off looking elsewhere. There's plenty of solid, bluesy, guitar based rock here, and a there's a handful of standout songs, but somehow the whole is less than the sum of the parts. Review to follow.
