I have been taking a trip through the times and found a bunch of albums that I somehow just had to take for a spin. Let's just say that this playlist is of the more varied kind.
I have also started making the "Best of 2005" article, a list that seems to become more and more difficult to write down. I will probably wrestle with it for most of the holidays, along a stack of those fantastic Christmas beers. so Merry Christmas and a Heavy New Year. ABBA - ABBA Their music is simply nostalgic. Melodic, catchy and well knitted together.
Angra - Rebirth They returned to the scene with this refreshing and melodic collection, a fine Power Metal offering.
Angra - Temple Of Shadows An even better and more focused release, diversity and symphonic elevations are key points here.
Anubis Gate - A Perfect Forever Second album from the Danish Power Metal band who have been able to create a very distinct sound, melting in some progressive tendencies and resting upon a solid rhythm section.
Exodus - Shovel Headed Kill Machine High explosive Thrash ready to bang your head right into place.
Green Day - Insomniac 32 minutes of "in your face" Power Punk Rock, intelligently played and soaring with raw energy.
Jon Bon Jovi - Blaze Of Glory The solo albums from Jon offer interesting if not fantastic music too. This is full blown eighties Hard Rock with the obvious western twist.
Jon Bon Jovi - Destination Anywhere I sense a deep, very realistic and everyday feeling about this one. The mid-tempo approach makes it suiting for relaxing on the couch.
Ozzy Osbourne - No More Tears Oozing guitars and solid structured song writing. Pain Of Salvation - BE
A big hail to intelligent and innovative music! This is as expansive and ambitious as it gets.
Primal Fear - Seven Seals They are back and really mean business this time. Technical and symphonic Power Metal with a really heavy attitude. Roxette - Tourism Yep, this is another piece of cheesy ear candy. A moody and experimenting album and as always Per throws in a lot of great hooks and cool harmonies. There is both something for the party and for the rainy nights on this one. Shadow Gallery - Legacy An extremely tight and creative band. This album is a bit hard to get into but the song writing is most of the time excellent. The Beach Boys - Surfin' Safari/Surfin´ U.S.A. (remastered edition) Another cult band having made a unique and admirable contribution to world music. Not all of these songs really give me much, but overall this just makes you feel at ease. Yargos - To Be Nor Not To Be
A progressive endeavour featuring the singer from Threshold and it's sounding rather interesting too. A bit unfocused at times but with some delicate melody lines.
