Playlist - December/January 2005/2006 - Steen
Lack of time has prompted me to cut back on some of the ambitions I have for the site. The comments won't be expanded into a community-like section for the time being. That project is being put on hold. Instead I will try to focus on the content and get more articles written since I'm not satisfied with only writing one or two reviews each month. At the moment we are working on a cool feature which will see the light of day sometime during March 2006. I'm getting ready for a nice christmas holiday right now and looking at my playlist it seems that this past month has been short on new discoveries. Metallic christmas greetings go out to you all!

Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Eve & Other stories
I always pull out out the Trans-Siberian Orchestra albums around this time to get in a christmas'y mood. The first one is still my favorite. Songs like An Angel Came Down, Ornament and especially Old City Bar feel perfect right now.

Ten - Personal best of Compilation
I absolutely love Ten, but after listening to the new double CD "The Essential Collection" for the first few times I was really disappointed. These new versions don't hold a candle to the originals. The echo effect on Gary Hughes' voice is so not welcome and the production is not quite up to par. So I got a sudden urge to make my own Essential Ten collection CD and that has been blowing out of my speakers for the past weeks. The songs are:

01 - Ten - After The Love Has Gone
02 - Babylon - Give In This Time
03 - Ten - Yesterday Lies In The Flames
04 - The Robe - Standing On The Edge Of Time
05 - The Name Of The Rose - Wait For You
06 - The Name Of The Rose - The Rainbow
07 - The Robe - You're In My Heart
08 - The Robe - Fly Like An Eagle
09 - The Name Of The Rose - Don't Cry
10 - Spellbound - Red
11 - Babylon - Valentine
12 - Far Beyond The World - Strange Land
13 - Return To Evermore - Dreamtide
14 - Ten - Close Your Eyes And Dream

Wastefall - Soulrain 21
Especially fans of Pain of Salvation should check this progressive metal band out. This album shows a lot of promise and has a similar feel as Entropia by PoS.

To/Die/For - All Eternity
I started listening more and more to this debut. No quite as accomplished as Jaded or IV but essential for To/Die/For fans.

Edguy - Superheroes DVD
So I watched this DVD for a second time and found that my first impression didn't hold up at all. What I found funny the first time felt really thin on a second viewing and the world tour footage felt more like a desperate attempt to make some standard footage usable. The live tracks are probably going to be on a future DVD. The one redeeming feature is the actual Superheroes video which is pretty fun as is the making of feature.

Manowar - Hell On Earth Part IV
Yes, I know, the review is long overdue, but I just had to watch this one again, and again...

Place Vendome - Place Vendome
Still getting in the mood to write the review... A good album.

Dogpound - A Night in The Gutter
Great album - Read the full review

Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell
After Tommy's shocking announcement that Bat Out Of Hell II was to be his classic of the month I felt and uncontrollable urge to make it a double feature in order to get the real classic online as well. To quote King Diamond: "I wonder Tommy, Are you allright!!?" :)
