Playlist - March/April 2006 - Steen
The yearly staff meeting was held at the end of February. A successful event that included a serious meeting where we discussed the site and decided on some things we would like to change in the future. One thing is the New releases section, which will be expanded to include both European and American release dates sometime soon. Other small changes will appear in the future. Following the meeting was an all night party which left only the two founding fathers standing in the end.
I have started adding a list of my CD purchases to my monthly playlist, just because I thought it would be a nice addition and it also serves as a reminder for me in case a new album got lost in one of my "Listen to soon" piles, which does actually happen quite often...

Saviour Machine - Rarities / Revelations
This 4 CD box set provides 5 hours of music and is a must for every Saviour Machine fan. The material spans their whole career from 1990 - 2005 and includes early demos, alternate mixes of several songs, bootleg live recordings and interview sections. I wish there was some more background information in the booklet but I guess the music speaks for itself.

Primal Fear - Seven Seals
Powerful Heavy Metal with melody, intensity and briliant vocals. This is the way it should be. It sounds like this one has the potential to creep up on my favorite Primal Fear album, Nuclear Fire. Great stuff!

Pyramaze - Legend of the Bone Carver
Keeps growing. A solid album, but somehow not quite up there with the debut yet. It probably needs more time.

Hubi Meisel - Kailash
Also growing with each listen. A varied and very interesting release. Progressive Metal fans should check this out.

Jim Steinman - Bad for good
Great discovery.

Armored Saint - Symbol of Salvation
It's always a pleasure to pull this classic down from the shelf.

Led Zeppelin - I, II & II
I: Eye opening. The more I hear this one the better it gets. Varied and interesting.
II: Harder to get into
III: Promising

Enuff Z'nuff - 1985
Vintage Enuff Z'nuff.

CD purchases of the month

Lanfear - aNother gOlden rAge (Decided it was time to purchase this great album after wearing the promo thin. We are even thanked in the booklet, although we don't actually have a Stephen on the staff. I know my name is weird, but come on!)

Nikolo Kotzev's Nostradamus (Listening session still to come)

Richard Andersson's Space Oddyssey - Embrace The Galaxy (Listening session still to come)

Queen - Innuendo (Building my Queen collection with another solid brick)

Abydos - The little boy's heavy mental shadow opera about the inhabitants of his diary (Good title!)

Bob Catley - When Empires Burn (Great album)

Orphaned Land - El Norra Alila (Listening session still to come)

The Darkness - Permission to Land (Found this one cheap and had to hear what all the fuss was about. I think the vocals are absolutely horrible but maybe it will grow.

Saviour Machine - Rarities / Revelations (Time consuming)

Eurythmics - Ultimate collection (It was an impulse buy near the register... I was in an 80'ies mood... Ok, there is no really good excuse...)

Primal Fear - Seven Seals (Heavy Metal with a capital H & M)

Trust me Steen, the only thing that will happen with the Darkness is that they will seem worse and worse with every listen:)

Anyway how are you doing? Got your Sweden Rock tickets yet? We got ours last week,so hopefully we will see you there!

Hey Stuart,
I'm keeping busy here, but I'm ready for Sweden Rock! Then we shall see if we can possibly top last year haha. I'm looking forward to the music, the parties, possibly another whisky taste and most important of all... The chicken wings! :)

Seven Seals is great. "All for One" is one of the best songs I've heard in a long time and Primal Fear's more ballady type stuff is a nice change of pace.

I see you got the Nikolo Kotzev listed, Steen! Reserve a chunk of time to get into that one, it's a long listen every time.

I just got Embrace the Galaxy last month...I just love Nils' voice, be it Astral Doors, Wuthering Heights, or Space Odyssey.

El Norra Alila is definitely OL's second best, but Mabool took them to another level entirely. I've got all three OLs but Mabool gets played 9 times out of ten.

If you're looking for background information by Rarities and Revelations you should check Saviour Machine's forum http://guitar6.com/saviourmachine/viewtopic.php?t=333 ... Written by master Eric Clayton himself: notes by every song...

Good luck...
