Playlist - February/March 2006 - Steen
I managed to go through an entire month without discovering any new music. It was only a couple of days ago when I started listening to the new Pyramaze and Hubi Meisel. I guess a main reason for this short playlist (besides the always popular work related reason) is that I've been going through a lot of older songs to prepare for an upcoming feature, so I've basically been listening to a kind of best of everything playlist on my Winamp jukebox most of the time and not full albums. Anyway, I have recently been listening to the following:

Led Zeppelin - I
My first step into the full studio recordings boxset has begun and it turns out that I've been missing out on quite alot.

Pyramaze - Legend of the Bone Carver
This highly awaited release sounds more complex than the debut and musically very interesting so far. The guitar playing is impressive and Lance King's voice soars high.

Hubi Meisel - Kailash
A distinct atmosphere flows from this hugely promising release. It could be categorized as a strain of progressive metal and works as a blow of cold, fresh air that makes you sit up and listen intently. It captures a feeling that makes me want to order the full album right away so I can read the lyrics and really get into the interesting concept instead of being left with this simple promo. Still another week before the release date.

Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys - The Legacy
It struggles to live up to it's legacy and never really compares to any of the classics. Initially I was very dissapointed, but after the first 5 listens it has started growing slowly.

The new Helloween is difficult to get into. It may grow on me or may not. At this point I am indifferent. The last Helloween release I kept in my player for and extended time was The Dark Ride which I thought was a killer release.
