Hey Steen,
Just for your information
http://www.ironmaiden.com/index.php?categoryid=8&p2_articleid=664

Maiden are going to tour India again, in 2008. Though the dates are not confirmed.
Bruce said during the show - "I know there are people who have waited for more than 17 years to watch maiden perform in India. But I promise you all that you wont have to even wait 17 months before we come to India again"

So steen,

Surprised that i dont find A Matter of life and death in ur playlist.. and also i dont find it in any of ur staffs playlist with the exception of tommy..

So.. u folks at revelationz.net didnt like the album?.. or did the sheer expectations let u down instead?

Various Artists - Playlist - September/October 2006

Mr.Tommy..

When A Matter of Life of Death is an essential part of ur playlist, go ahead and review it!
And if u r giving a rating of less than 9, then let someone else review it.. lol

And i am very surprised when u say that it lacks a "classic potential"... Just to point out tommy that u have given a rating of 9, 8.5 for BNW and DOD respectively..
If those were considered as classics.. this beats the hell out of it.. But then again its ur opinion..

@Mads

Yes I do... If not the best, it is right up there...
The heaviest album of maiden.. no doubt about it for sure..

Also i want to know.. Is there a standout masterpiece in this album... like say the trooper in pom or rime in poweslave..?

Someone review this album for Gods sake.. or for devils sake.. And yes, face the dire consequences from the fans if a rating of less than 9 is given.. haha

Hi Steen,

Its been a really long time since i posted a message.
Maiden's new video... Oh yes.. I saw that, and i was a little surprised overall. Firsly sorry that i am talking about maiden in ur playlist section, I couldnt find anywhere else to talk about it. U can delete my post later, but i need ur comments as well.. Here are mine

1) Starts off with a quiet into just like any of the songs in Seventh son... and this intro goes around for 2 mins. something like Moonchild intro or even the Prophecy intro but not as melodic as the mentioned above intros.

2) The main Riff is too plain or simple to my ears.. Come on man.. I expected a Wicker Man, An Evil That Men Do, Rainmaker...or more "In your face" type of a song.. And The chorus riff is again plain too simple.

3) Then during around 5min, 25 secs... i hear a weird riff the sound of which is not "Maidenish"... at times its a little spooky like slayer. I dont remember Maiden playing such a riff like that. Maiden r supposed to be more melodic.

4) The video is also weird... it isnt a video after all.. Its just a sequence of pictures played like a slideshow, one after another... each picture there for about 2-3 seconds..
I really doubt if this is their actual video

5) I couldnt say who exactly is Benjamin Breeg after watching the video..
But one thing, even though i watched a high resolution streaming video, the video wasnt that clear after all... But i am guessing i saw the pictures of Bruce were a little dull... I am not sure, but it looked like it..
So.. Could Benjamin Breeg be Bruce?...
Am not sure, having watched the video only once, this is just a guess

6) The solos - which started during the last 2 mins, were good.. Maybe i have to listen to them a lot more number of times.. before i can tag the word "Brilliant".. But definitely a good solo no doubt.. The solo sounded as though it was played by Dave Murray + Janick Gers i suppose...

7) And lastly the sound of maiden.. I am very very surprised... Some people said that it could be a 100% progressive album...
Hell no.. It is just their trademarks maiden sound.. + a riff which is a little spooky... but that riff is only for a short period of time

8) Overall the pace of the song was not matching the trademark Maiden's pace.. It was like a Sabbath or a priest...

I cant say that i am disappointed but i am not impressed with it either.. But i am really nervous..
And yes... If they disappoint me, then.. I will be so depressed that it will supercede even the feeling of losing my job a few days back..

U said u havent listened to the death that much.. maybe u could start of with the song "spirit crusher" from "The sound of perseverance"... or "lack of comprehension" from "human"

Various Artists - Nina´s All Time Favorite Songs - The Top 50
Monday, April 24, 2006
Hi Nina,

I find quality names there like Morbid Angel, In Flames, Children Of Bodom, Obituary and of course Iron Maiden.
In fact, i have to tell u, that ur top 50 songs is more fimiliar with me in the sense that i recognise most of the songs and the bands..

But still, i am wondering.. i have never found the name "Death" and any of their songs till now in any of the top songs list.. also i didnt find any review on any of the death albums.. I personally consider "Death" to be in my top 5 all time fav bands..
I love every album from "Human" onwards.. "The Sound Of Perseverance" being my favourite..
To give u a clue about my favourite song in the album, it is the perfect blend of acoustic and electric guitar in "the Voice of The Soul"..

What do u think of the album and more particularly, the band?
And y not more death songs in the top 50 or top 100

Various Artists - Steen´s All Time Favorite Songs - The Top 100 (Part One - 100-51)
Monday, April 24, 2006
Ahhhh..
Aces High.. man i love that song..
Creeping Death is probably one of the highlights in metallica's entire career.. But still i feel "One" is technically far more superior that any other metallica song. Forget the technical part, for me it gives me the feel which i simply cannot describe..

Anyways, the list is getting interesting.. and since "Death" Cds are playing a lot in my playlist nowadays.. i ask u the same question i asked Nina..

I dont see any death songs?.. i checked out ur cd collection.. u just have "Death - Human".. surprise surpise.. Also no Control Denied..
Thats a surprise for me because i expect all the metal crazy people to own the Death albums - They simply give u a fusion of brutality and melody.. Hail Chuck Schuldiner..

I am typically guessing that u r more into the melodic part of metal.. becoz i dont see names like :-

Morbid Angel, Deicide, Napalm Death, Carcass, Celtic Frost, Obituary, Athiest, Cynic, Cryptopsy, Mercyful Fate.. Man.. The above mentioned bands are in my top 25..
And of Course.. "Death" is in my top 5.. or right now, in the mood i am - the top 4.. Only Sabbath, Maiden and Metallica beating it

Various Artists - Steen´s All Time Favorite Songs - The Top 100 (Part One - 100-51)
Tuesday, April 18, 2006
Hi Steen,

Let me tell u,
"One" at #62 was more shocking that u giving Brave New World a 5.5/10. Becoz for me, that is an epic song in all aspects and that should be within the top 10 (ok.. i am talking with respect to metal)...

And talking about genres, i am still extremely skeptical about the comparison - On what basis can u compare a song like "one" with that beatles song like "julia", and how will u eventually decide that "julia" is a better song that "one". I want a more logical argument than u telling me that both the albums share the same CD rack.

But then, that was almost 2 years back (Brave new world review and me going mad hehe) and i have grown up and will accept people's opinions. Anyways, my comment here was just a thought..

But i might await more surprises (like hallowed at 50 or something?)... but i promised i will post my top 10 on my all time fav "metal" songs.. hopefully it wont be a surprise to u.. hehe

Hi Steen,

Me posting a comment after a long time.. How have u been?.. Nice idea about having an all time favourite list..
But not too sure if u can mix up genres, like having beatles and say slayer share the same space..

Anyways, the website is improving in leaps and bounds.. Cheers for the comments width, now it looks fine..

And great news for me.. Iron Maiden in studio.. recording their 14th studio album, cant wait for the release..

I will post again when i will mention my All time favourite songs on "Metal"... i repeat.. just Metal

Control Denied - The Fragile Art of Existance
Friday, December 30, 2005
Firsly i havent listened to this album. I have to take it from a friend who owns this album and i am sure, i will visit this same page and make a second comment here.
But before i do that, i should probably tell u how much i enjoyed reading ur review, u also gave a brief history about the band.. A totally different style of review
Cheers for that Morten.
Also this was one of the best reviews i have read in revelationz for a long time.. that says it all.

Hi Steen,

I really dont know the facts about the 'iron maiden and eggs' incident, hence cant comment much.. As far as the comments go from blabbermouth.com - i was quite disappointed with the incident...

Nevertheless i have some news which i want to share with the readers of this website, if possible please post a comment on the front page
Here is the news :-

DEICIDE frontman Glen Benton will feature in an hour-long BBC documentary called "Death Metal Murders" (part of the acclaimed "This World" series) which explores link between heavy metal music (specifically death and black metal) and Satanism and murder. The show will air at 9:00 p.m. (GMT) on Thursday, November 24 on BBC2.

Hi tommy,

Something interesting i actually got to know from ur playlist!
Firstly i counted the number of albums which were there in ur playlist and i think i counted around 17 if i am right?

Ok man! 17 cds = around 17 hours of music! And i wonder how many spins u give to those cds! Unbelievable man! Even if u like listen to every album 5 times..
Thats 17*5 = 85 hours of music! (huh.. ok.. i am not a maths genius or something).

Ok.. what point i am trying to make is that, when u mention that some album is on ur playlist - do u listen to the entire album completely or just a song or two from that? And how many times to do u listen to that album?

Slayer - South Of Heaven
Saturday, August 20, 2005
Ok.. From the past few weeks i am into this album.. so i thought i will make a second comment here
Well, to be fair enough whenever i play this album - the first song is so damn good that i put it on a repeat..
Also though i know very little or nothing about drumming in general - the starting drums after the first guitar line makes my hand automatically replicate a drummers way of hitting after every 4 counts.. just like the guy who does it in the 'War at the warfield DVD' (one of the guys of the audience i meant)..
Again SLAYER is so good expect for their lead guitar.. i mean like what the hell are they playing man.. in fact during the last minute of 'raining blood' both hanneman/king have termed their lead guitar as "noise"..
But their music is serious head-banging stuff... I dont think i can bang my head for any other riffs from any other band SO HARD

None - What is the deal with the metal-vest?
Tuesday, August 16, 2005
Honestly speaking - there should not be a deal with both - wearing the metal vest and not wearing them.
After all we have the freedom to express ourselves in any possible way.
In fact, i am with some of them who commented here that - personally i would love to wear a band shirt just to say - "man.. i love metal, and i support one of the bands of this genre, how about u".
It gives me pride when i wear these "band" shirts.. but then, there comes the question of do i really need them?
Firstly my wardrobe has enough number of t-shirts, shirts, everything - whenever i decide that i have to get myself a band shirt - there is this thought at the back of my mind which says - "dude, i have lots of shirts, i better get myself a cd of the band - which would make me explore the band further and also help the band by buying their records"..
Well, the previous statement i made might strike one of the questions like "Buying band shirts also in a way is to support a band.. isnt it?"..
It is.. but the place i live, we have these local companies produce these shirts of low quality and just have a band logo there.
By buying them, we dont help these bands in any way, also the quality of these shirts r so poor..
I would rather buy a cd of the equivalent money!

Having said all this - i am thinking of buying a megadeth shirt today.. he he..

Interesting when u say that - the system has failed is one of the greatest comeback albums ever! there had been countless line-up changes for megadeth.. how is the current one?
Can we expect a review on the album..
Also i see the name Pantera for a change in on of the playlists!

Scorpions - Live at Jelling festival, Denmark - May 28th 2005
Tuesday, July 19, 2005
Well,

I had a problem with the sub-categories of heavy metal genre.. but when i heard this band.. it really didnt matter..

I dont have a problem with what genre a band can belong.. as long as it gives me the same drive as when i listen to some of my ever fav songs..
I have Moment of Glory DVD - and the person who composes notes for the orchestra defines this band as "band having soft beginnings and very powerful choruses"... no better way to put it really..

When i watch scorpions.. especially Mathias Jabs.. its like he is enjoying 100% every moment of it, i mean he is very expressive.. and Klaus Meine is so impeccable when it comes to him singing his high notes..
"time stands still...." and the notes to follow in "you and i" is a very good example.
Many people associate heavy metal with drugs, tatoos, alcohol.. and so it is very "restrictive" to these bad guys who listen to them.. Really man.. i hate when people categorise music by these means..
One band which can put these steroetypes to an end and who already have.. is Scorpions..
I mean, their music appeals to a wide range of audience.. from young kids to old people. Still people put their music in a specific category in music stores..

Doesnt really matter.. as long as the music rocks.. and rocks hard!

Enuff Z'nuff - Animals with human intelligence
Tuesday, July 19, 2005
Well this is the first Enuff Z nuff Cd which i received..
I can tell u that this cd has been there in my playlist for quite some time, because many people of this website consider this band as their fav band.. so i thought let me give myself a chance to explore into this band.. And so i did!

Firstly i respect a person's tastes in music .. infact opinions of anyone to be more precise, though at times i have been provocative when it comes to someone critisizing an album which holds dear to me.. So if anyone after reading to what i have to say, feel irritated and if u would like to vent out ur anger(i know what it feels like if someone bashes about some album which may hold dear to u).. u may do as u please.. but not on this comments section, the website looks so good just set aside those brats who use foul language.. mail me at

iron_maiden_hallowed@yahoo.com

Ok, maybe i have given a hint at whats to come.. but wait, not with the idea of solely ciritisizing an album will i write like this.. more so because i feel like this.
I put myself in the shoes of a reviewer and write this, i have been listening to this album for some 2 weeks.. roughly about 10 or more times and this is what i feel about it :-

What defines heavy metal really? Is it those intricate riffs and those power bass lines and those hard hitting drums? Whatever it maybe, this band belongs to heavy metal and thats y it is here.. again as i say all time.. Doesnt really matter, as long as the music rocks and rocks hard..

But still, i had a preconceived notion about heavy metal being somewhat close to iron maiden, metallica, judas priest, black sabbath, pantera and so on.. So it makes me think... what really is heavy metal and does this band belong to the category.. My feeling when i first heard this band was a sound similar to that of def leppard especially the riffs heard, which r not that raw.. and more polished should i say? Also the first and the foremost reason to like a song will obviously be its music.. only after we like it will we take the trouble of looking at the lyrics page.. at least thats the case for me.. Coming to the album

1)Superstitious - The song on the whole is definitely good, worth a listen or two and definitely more.. But does it appeal to me in the same way as my other fav songs would be the question. Y is it like this? Maybe because the riffs r not that raw as i would expect.. also i noticed that the lead guitar is not so predominant as other instruments especially when the lead is playing.. Am i wrong on this one? i dont know.. still i felt so

2)Black rain - Ok.. when i heard the first line of this song, i thought "fine man.. let me switch to the next track", but hey.. i found some really good guitar notes.. but the chorus really kicks everything out of this otherwise "not bad" track.. so overall it really doesnt appeal much to me

3)Right by your side - This song definitely has to be my fav song in this disc.. and probably this song would cement its own position in my ever growing large premanent playlist.. Firstly i love the tone, the singing.. and the highlight of this track starts at 2:15 into the track, where the riff changes from its starting pattern and automatically my head sways into its melody

4)These daze - Firstly i like the riff without a second thought, but i have noticed one thing about the band.. y should u have every song where there is a chorus.. maybe its their style but shouldnt there be more introspection as to whether they really need it? overall definitely worth a listen or more.. but thats it

5)Master of pain - Here i agree with u steen.. i really dont like this song, song has nothing special and wondering when u said that this is one of their "heaviest compositions".. i wonder how would u define whether a song is really heavy.. coz i really dont find this song heavy also

6)Innocence - The starting of the song reminds me of this song - nothings gonna change my love for u by glen medeiros.. if i spelt correctly.. again i have a problem with a genre, is the song too soft to be classified as heavy metal? i say this because i have my drink and i sip it without any power that i would receive from any other song. But set aside definitely a decent track. Again the lead guitar doesnt catch my attention even if its deserving

7)One step close to u - I hear this and i find the songs somewhat similar.. a problem most people will have with heavy metal bands.. but the end result remains whether they like them or not.

8)Bring it on home - The similarity continues on its mission and my eye doesnt see it going anywhere.. sorry for this, but this is what i felt

9)Takin a ride - This song sounds like a 70's or 80's classic song.. clearly the analogy drawn with the beatles.. but sorry, not my kind of music.

10)The love train - There is a certain urge to switch to the next track becaus my instict says that this song is no different.. and i am right to a good extent i suppose

11)Mary anne lost her baby - Steen mentions that this song deviates away from their usual love, party kind of songs.. i delve into the song so much to find its difference. But i conclude that its a decent rocker and nothing more

12)Rock n world - I reach the end of the album and i have nothing to say about this song really. again an "ok" track

Ok! overall, when i give my rating it must be based on my benchmark which i consider to be a perfect or a near perfect album. That credit would either go to powerslave - iron maiden or.. seventh son of a seventh son.

Highlight of the album - Right by your side
Rating in 2 words - Sorry Steen

4/10

Salutes to u steen!

When we had an argument about giving "strength" a full 10/10..
I thought that u were too biased about this band!.. and assumed that u would rate every album very highly!.. but there u go.. Hats off to u!

I hope this band release their albums here.. i had mentioned about this in my e-mail to u

Bruce Dickinson - Tyranny Of Souls
Saturday, May 7, 2005
For me, Bruce Dickinson has to be the greatest metal clean vocalist ever!..
i really mean it, just try singing hallowed - "when the priest comes..." at the exact right pitch and the same intensity as he sings.. then u will know what i am talking about.
By the way, i heard from many that this album will be available only late in the month of may.. maybe ur staff might have got the first hand copies.. i must wait for the release here so that i can pick up my copy of the album.
I just hope he sticks with maiden and not again split this great band and go different ways
Roy is a great guitarist... needless to say as he delivered some real great stuff in the album - accident of birth..
I am waiting for the next maiden album.. and more albums to come

Up The Irons

Slayer - South Of Heaven
Friday, May 6, 2005
Hi tommy,
Good review.. And at last, i see the name SLAYER in ur bands list.. This is what i have been waiting for..
Also, i had listenend to some of ur mentioned albums/songs.. was really good.
Though i like Slayer's aggression.. i feel their weak point is their leads.. I soemhow cant get hooked on to a slayer's lead..
But for ultra-heavy riffs and killing vocals.. its SLAYER... Still Reigning..!

Megadeth - Rust In Peace
Friday, May 6, 2005
Woa.. What can i say about this album...
This album has to be in the top 5 best heavy metal albums ever made.
And Holy wars is my second all time fav song after of course maiden's - hallowed be thy name.
Hangar 18 is purely technical genius.. it doesnt get any better than this.. marty's leads r one of the best again.. And the last 2 mins of song has intense double bass drumming
I also like tornado of souls.. goes to show the variety of songs mustaine can play.
Mustaine may be dominant.. that really doesnt matter as he deserves it
Like many said on this page.. Even i started metal with metallica.. but when i heard Megadeth - i will anyday, anytime chose them over metallica..
Mustaine is my favourite guitarist though maiden is my fav band..
Really doesnt matter, as long as the music rocks and rocks hard
Stay METAL

Hey ho.. Dont i love this website more than u do?? I guess so..
I wanted to tell u and all the readers about something - U have this option of posting a comment for every review.. Now many of them just use this to vent their anger upon the album/dvd that they dont like...
Hence sometimes u find an entire para with words "F*** u" written repeatedly..
Please take some action against these.. Delete them.. doesnt go with the website really..
Anything related to the review should be most welcomed.. not otherwise

Hi tommy..
I am listening to maiden for quite some time now..
And i literally live on music... The time i get back home its always back to square one of iron maiden.
Just wondered... (i always thought i listened to more music than anyone else...) and i "still" dont find time to explore bands like vigin steele, savatage and almost all of ur other fav bands..
Not that i havent heard any of their stuff.. just that i havent herd enough to get into their music..
So.. do u literally live on ur music.. While eating, sleeping, in the pub, in the car.. everywhere?
By the way.. I had already mentioned elsewhere that ur website ROCKS and the very reason of buying albums were the reviews and the glamour of this site

So just tell me.. I have "Scenes from a memory" by dream theater.. Though i am not into dream theater as much as maiden...
I started listening to that album by that start instrumental track.. some 1928 or something... man mind blowing man...

Just tell me some tracks.. which r real masterpieces... from any of the bands u menionted there so taht i can pick up a copy of their stuff... listen to teh track u mention about and also explore into the band

Just name a few songs that u really really play the most... Just name the inspirational few..

Of course dont mention maiden.. lol.. i know everything of them.. supposedly!

Just wanted to say - This page is getting bigger and bigger.. Probably u might want to edit the page and delete my "long" comments that made u talking for a while!
I really LOVE this site man.. Thats y the criticism man.. its constructive criticism nevertheless.. So take it in the right spirits
Also I suppose Megadeth have 10 studio albums and ur staff has just reviewed one album.. which i feel is unfair to mustaine and his sheer speed..
Also i dont see a name called "Slayer"...
I suppose the band is somewhere close to metal to get a mention at least?
For reign in blood's sake?

No hard feelings bro..
I was too pissed to see one of my fav albums of my all time fav band just getting 5.5
I didnt know what i was typing.. i just couldnt come to terms with someone rating BNW with 5.5
U r right.. its "ur" opinion and u have to rate it accordingly..
Still, i cant believe steen.. just one question.. how many times have u listened to the album?
Please listen to it a couple of times... u urself will later feel vindicated coz maiden just gets better the more u listen to them.
Rock on!

"Well, when I read your review, I feel that your objectivity has disappeared. This is a review written by a fan, and not an objective reviewer."

I agree 100%... there is no better way to hit the nail on its head than this comment..

If that album... seriously mediocre can get a BLOODY 10?
and brave new world... a mere 5.5

With due respects to u... i must agree that ulrick has been the most "unbiased" writer on this website... Being that great a fan of maiden... he critically showed the weak points of No prayer for the dying, virtual...

Again steen... the reason for this message being.. i love this site that much more than anyone else.. I simply LOVE this site...
That is the reason i want all the writers to write reviews taking all the view points.. and not just their personal preferences...

Can we agree to disagree? - that is ur question..

My answer - Yes and No

Yes - Because "The reviews I write are reflections of my opinion and feelings towards an album" - that is what u have mentioned.. and rightly so, but let me change the word "review" to that of a "view".
As a person ur views ought to be respected by anyone!

No - Because, dude! ur review is being read by hundreds of viewers online.. and they have the feeling that ur view is what "people" have on a particular album, which u have to "bring forward" to them
People "BUY" albums after reading reviews...
Definitely u have to pin ur views.. but when 99.99% of the people like the album and u dont, and u r doing that on a large scale basis ("view" and "review" are 2 different things my friend)
u have to definitely go "with the flow"

How about this - If i had to rate any of the pop albums according to "my" views, or any of the commercial or glam albums, i would hardly give them an excess of 5/10. Do u think it will do any good if people actually are guided by my reviews?
But since i am given a job of doing the review, what i would do is to have a look at how it is doing commercially, ask people how they feel about the album, take a collective decision after chatting with my collegues (did u actually do that?)
If i "dislike" an album, i would certainly mention it there but if 99% like it, i would strongly mention a line or two which might be something like "please buy the album - most of my mates like it, but i dont"

There is also a very subjective issue when it comes to rating albums?

If Enuff z nuff - strength can get 10.
Compare it with

Iron maiden - Powerslave, SSOASS, NOB, Piece of mind
Or a Slayer - Reign in blood,
Judas priest - Painkiller,
Black Sabbath - Paranoid,
Metallica - Master of puppets

Do u think justice is being done to all these albums and all the acclaims they have achieved just becoz "u" like that album and consider it right up there?

If an album is so bloody good as to get a perfect score... trust me steen it would have danced its way to glory at least in the world of metal, where the only focus is on the music.. and we dont give a damn to anything else

Overall steen, i just love to spend my time in musical discussions such as these, had a nice chat and thanx for taking ur time away and responding back to my comments

Stay metal!
Rock on bro!

Steen,
U freakin shocked me by rating brave new world by a mere 5.5!
What the hell were u thinking dude?
U thought iron maiden is worth that much.. Come on man, i agree that it is not in the vein of SSOASS, NOB, but still in the top 5 for sure..
Being the owner of the website.. and having that much a large collection of heavy metal, i feel this is an insult for any true metal lover.
I know this is your opinion.. but i am sorry dude (this is me.. and i have that much more passion for maiden than anyone else).. i didnt expect a metal freak to rate an album like this.
U thought blood brothers is dragging..? ohh please dude... give me a break.. its one of the best songs written by steve.. and u must watch the rock in rio DVD, the crowd was really into the song.. and the overall melody takes ur breath away..
I have no clue as to how u gave this "cheap" rating which they dont deserve!

Ulrick!.. i hope u r hearing...
5.5/10 for brave new world?
U surely must have some comments for our friend steen

This album deserves a minimum of 9, and if anyone gives less than that... please go and hit ur head against the wall.. coz u dont know what metal is all about...

Steen, again sorry if i offended u.. but this is just me!!!!

Iron Maiden - Dance Of Death
Thursday, January 20, 2005
I think many people compare no more lies with the clansman..
i think this is completely wrong
Firstly, There is a time change in the intro of the clansman (when the acoustic bass plays).. which i feel is completely artificial and not "with the flow"
No more lies - My god... the middle section which plays the intro at a fast pace and with solid riffs - Its mind blowing man!
And ulrick, If u r reading this u may agree with me?
One last question... When is the next album of maiden.. they better release fast.. they get better even 25 years down the line

Whether or not it is "weaker" to brave new world - is out of context!
Both are right up there and certainly one of maiden's best album. Technically, there isnt much difference b/w BNW and DOD.. I love them both!
Its amazing that they r back in full swing (just a thought - if they had not made albums like NPFTD and virtual - They would be a flawless band)

Waiting, waiting and waiting for their next album - and i am sure it will be rocking!!!!!!

Hi ulrick,

Thanks again for your acknowledgements!
Since u r quite a big fan of maiden and i guess u must have been following the band's histroy - i have a few questions about the band.

1) Why dont they play the song - phantom of the opera in live set? Personally i feel its a masterpiece - its up there with seventh son, rime, trooper etc.
But still i maintain my stance - HALLOWED is greatest ever!

2) Why did dennis stratton, paul dianno, clive burr and quite recently blaze bayley - leave the band?

3) Why did maiden go with 3 guitars. I feel 3 guitars is a "luxury". Though they prove us wrong by the incredible success of brave new world and dance of death! Also i guess u mentioned in ur reviews that "3 guitars is a mess"

4)Finally - I am from India - A lovely place - Please, if u happen to meet maiden personally, ask them to play here. Till now i guess none of the heavy metal kings have visted india even once! Other musical legends (roger waters, deep purple, scorpions, rolling stones..etc) have visited india...

I want to see Iron Maiden here...

Hi ulrick!
Thanks for responding to my message!

I again give u great credits for writing such wonderful reviews - And u deserve this high praise

I have all the seven albums of maiden - right from Iron maiden to Seventh son. I am saving my pocket money every month so that i get the other albums as well. And let me tell u that the single most reason for me buying the albums were ur reviews!. Certain albums like powerslave, i keep listening to aces high(happens to be first track), I dont even switch to the next track becoz the first track is so bloody good! Also in the album NOB, I always play the TRACK 9 - Hallowed Be Thy Name - The GREATEST MASTERPIECE EVER. I never even bother listening to other tracks! I keep that on a repeat and it plays upto 3am in the night.. some times till sunlight.. MY GOD.. what a song! But from ur reviews i discovered more classics, and still in the process of discovering them

Also please mail me - if u find time!

iron_maiden_hallowed@yahoo.com

Also i read a review of "Dance of Death" which was there in the "comments section" of hashman's review.. Was that yours?

hi ulrick,
i think u must be a big fan of iron maiden and quite rightly bruce dickinson...
i simply loved the reviews which u had written.. in fact the very fact of me buying some of the maiden albums were becoz of the way in which u reviewed the albums..
rock on bro!
by the way.. r u writing elsewhere? if so.. let me know about it.. coz i love ur reviews
