Helloween - 7 Sinners Friday, November 26, 2010 I love this album. Helloween are one of the few bands that for many years and different musicians they always make quality music. 8.5/10
Nazareth - Expect No Mercy & No Mean City Friday, July 23, 2010 Nazareth are extremely underrated. I remember seeing them in a cum 10 years ago and Slaughter opened up for them (Slaughter were incredible by the way) and as soon as Slaughter got off stage it seemed everyone else left the club which was a shame because even in their older years they still rocked and sounded great. I love all there albums and they truly are one of Rock's greatest bands!
Nazareth - Expect No Mercy & No Mean City Friday, July 23, 2010 In a Club not Cum.......where is my head at? lol
Pain of Salvation - Road Salt One Friday, July 23, 2010 This album is a very different, I'm not sure if I love it or hate it at this point, If that makes any sense???? I always love Pain Of Salvation because every album is so different yet you always know it's Pain Of Salvation.
Helloween - Keeper Of The Seven Keys - Part II Friday, July 23, 2010 I have to give this album a 10/10 it's perfection in every sense of the word. Top of the line musicianship, great melodic songs, and at the same time they don't take themselves too seriously. 10/10 all the way!
Dio - RevelationZ Top 20 Dio Tracks - A Tribute Tuesday, June 8, 2010 Where is "Rainbow Eyes" and without a doubt not just one of Ronnie's best songs but one of the best songs ever to be made "Gates Of Babylon"? I also love "Jesus, Mary & The Holy Ghost" although I do like ever song on the top 20 list, Ronnie just had to many good songs. It would be almost impossible for me to make a top 20. R.I.P.
Kiss - Kissology vol. 3 Friday, March 19, 2010 WOW! Excellent review, I agree 100% with everything. My bonus disc is from the "Revenge" tour yet they use the Hot In The Shade stage. "Unplugged" is by far the highlight Paul's vocals are chilling they are so good, also they chose a great setlist, I prefer the Bruce Kulick era of KISS.
Rock Sugar - Reimaginator Friday, March 19, 2010 I absolutely am blown away from this album, I'm not much for tribute albums but this is a whole different animal how they mix up songs into one magnificent tune, I have to give this a perfect 10/10 for how they went about the arrangements. Brilliant!!! If you don't have this album people buy it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blaze Bayley - Promise And Terror Friday, March 19, 2010 I love the music but I just cannot get into Blaze Bayley's vocals, 5/10
Alice in Chains - Black Gives Way to Blue Saturday, October 24, 2009 Yes saigon Kick is extremely more diverse than AIC, it just seems to me on Saigon Kick's heavier tunes AIC may have been really influenced. Saigon Kick is one of my all time favorite bands, and while I love AIC they do not hold a candle to Saigon Kick. And "Water" is actually my favorite album from them it is a very stranger and diverse album that plays colorful, moody, and diverse!
Winger - Karma Saturday, October 24, 2009 I love the song "Feeding Frenzy" it's gotta a great guitar riff with an excellent solo
Alice in Chains - Black Gives Way to Blue Sunday, October 18, 2009 I'm a huge AIC fan and was not excited at the thought of a new singer at first. But William DuVall does an amazing job and this honestly is one of AIC best albums. I love it, Ya know I was argueing with a friend awhile ago that I think AIC might have got their style somewhat from Saigon Kick. Saigon Kicks' heavy songs were always comprised of heavy pounding chords with dual vocals and scroching guitar solo's...........Am I the only one who thinks there is a link??????
Winger - Karma Sunday, October 18, 2009 This may be the best Winger album along with "Pull" I actually give this a 9.5/10
Europe - Last Look at Eden Saturday, September 26, 2009 I'm a huge Europe fan and this album along with their last album "Secret Society" have really let me down, while there are good elements to this album nothing really meshes together for me, A real shame because thius band is capable of making more classic albums. 5/10
Crash Kings - Crash Kings Sunday, September 6, 2009 Devin is certainly not for everyone but there is no denying he has an amzing vocal range. You may really like his new album "Ki" it's very progressive, not really any distortion on the album at all. the only thing that bugs me about the album is the mix. His vocals I feel should be a little louder because it seems like an even mix on every instrument including vocals. And The Script is very poppy and contemporary but I still can't get enough of it for some reason.
Lost Horizon - A flame to the ground beneath Monday, August 31, 2009 Daniel Heiman is one of the most gifted vocalists I've ever come across, also check out his ne band "HEED". Excellent review I agreee with everything you are expressing. I give this album a perfect 10/10 flawless to me. I wish they would get back together with this line-up. This band is truly something special.
Crash Kings - Crash Kings Sunday, August 30, 2009 I just got the new Collective Soul "Rabbit" a very different album for them, I really like it in a quirky kind of way. Also Danger Danger "Revolve" is a great melodic album, that has a great "Screw It" kind of vibe and Lillian Axe "Sad Day On Planet Earth" I think is a real special album that has a timeless quality to it. Also The Script self titled album I've been listening for the better part of the year, very creative. and finally Devin Townsend "Ki" extremely different piece of work for Devin. this album is genius, very laid back very progressive. And extremely original I highly recommend this album if you are a fan of Devin or not. Fans of Rush, Dream Theater, Fates Warning, etc. should really love this album!
Crash Kings - Crash Kings Thursday, August 27, 2009 Sorry it took so long to respond. I almost died last weekend! I'm not sure what I expected but I've tried to give it a fair listen and I still don't really care for it or think it's special. I know you really like the vocals and honestly that's one of the things about the album I don't care for. His vocals just aren't good enough for me.....sorry! And I apologize to the band also I hate putting down albums because alot of work goes into making an album even if it's not your cup of tea.
King´s X - Black Like Sunday Thursday, August 27, 2009 I think King's X are incapable of making a bad record. I give this album a 8/10 also.
Crash Kings - Crash Kings Saturday, August 15, 2009 Wow I got this album off of your review and to be honest I think this album is Average at best. The singers voice is horrible and all the songs run together. I was very un-impressed. Fans of White Stripes may like this but even that type of fan would say it's not as good or unique as The White Stripes and I would agree. Sorry but for me it's a 5/10
Cheap Trick - The Latest Saturday, August 15, 2009 I agree with this review but i give the overall rating 7/10. Robin Zander is a highly underrated vocalist his vocals are just as strong and more controlled these days, he sounds great!
Anthrax - Sound Of White Noise Saturday, August 15, 2009 This album marked the first with Armored Saint vocalist John Bush. And he brought to Anthrax what I always thought was missing, Anger within the vocal. Joey is a gem a truly talented vocalist but for what I believe anthrax was striving for John fit them better. And this may even be my favorite hard rock album ever. Every song is a winner there are no filler tracks they all have sense of hate & pride to them. This album gets me pumped 10/10
Saga - The Human Condition Wednesday, May 20, 2009 ProfessorShred you've got to chill out! Everyone has their opinion. I think the album is very good 7/10 for me, sometimes the lyrics bug me, but the guitar playing keeps me very interested.
Accept - Objection Overruled Tuesday, May 19, 2009 My favorite Accept album is "Eat The Heat" with David Reece on vocals. His vocals are extremely powerful, melodic and with great control. No disrespect to the UDO material "Eat The Heat" is just my personal fav.
Judas Priest - Jugulator Friday, February 27, 2009 I love this album and Tim Owens vocals are amazing. the only think I don't like about this album is some of the lyrics, some of them are painfully stupid but other than that the album is flawless. I give it a 9/10 it would be a 10/10 but some of the lyrics are just horrible. Cathedral Spires might be my favorite Priest song of all-time.
Evergrey - Monday Morning Apocalypse Friday, February 27, 2009 This is not my favorite Evergrey album but it is still amazing. I also give a 8.5/10 rating, Clousre is a magnificent dark and very sad ballad that will tear at your heartstrings, absolutely beautiful.
Dream Theater - Awake Tuesday, February 24, 2009 You know what's crazy. that your 9.5/10 review drives me mad, and I know that's an amazing rating but this album to me is far beyond a 10/10 this album embodies everything. Top notch musicianship, Heaviness, Melody, Amazing lyrics, and Emotion. Everything meshes perfectly and is exciting and gloomy at the same time.
Poley/Rivera - Only Human Sunday, January 25, 2009 I give it a 7.5/10 review also. My favorite tracks are "Top Of The World" and "Only Human" very good melodic rock album. Fans of Ted Poley and Vic Rivera will not be disappointed at all!
Steelheart - Good 2B Alive Tuesday, December 30, 2008 I love this album and it reminds me of classic Steelheart mixed with a very modern heavy sound, Mikes or Miljenko's vocals are amazing(He is imo the greatest underrated vocalist of all-time) I love the acoustic version of "Good 2b Alive" This album for me is 8/10
Dream Theater - Awake Thursday, December 25, 2008 Dream Theater to me most likely have the most perfect albums of any other band ever. And to me this album is a perfect 10/10, It's so hard to describe how truly perfect this album is. Musicianship, emotion, and most important for progressive music knowing when to let the song speak and playing intricate parts, Dream Theater are superb!!!!
Faster Pussycat - The Power and the Glory Hole Sunday, December 21, 2008 Well I've gotta be honest I really like this album and while yes this is pretty much a Newlydeads project and not Faster Pussycat. I still really love it. Now the first time I listened to it I didn't like it at all and just recently I broke it out and listened to it again and again and again. To me this album combines classic Faster Pussycat with Techno, now while I do agree I wish Taime would sing more without distortion on his voice (Because Taime has one of the coolest sleazy type of rock vocals ever) This album boasts great guitar playing with great grooving tracks. And they do a great remake of "These Boots Were Made For Walking", I know I'm one of the few but to me this album is worth the buy!! 7.5/10
Northern Kings - Rethroned Thursday, December 18, 2008 It sure does fits Stuarts analogy! A mix of the original and mix of your own. It fits! I like the Priest version and I won't ever change my mind, now at the same time I don't think it's the best remake ever, but too me it's fun! My favorite tribute album is "Working Man" a tribute to Rush, every remake is a winner, especially Devin Townsend's remake of "Natural Science" this is a perfect example of standing true to the original while making it your own!
Dream Theater - Metropolis Pt.2: Scenes From A Memory Thursday, December 18, 2008 The greatest album ever created. Tommy your review is spot on, Brilliant review! 10/10
Northern Kings - Rethroned Wednesday, December 17, 2008 Exactly Steen. and the Judas Priest version of Johnny B. Goode fits Stuarts analogy of how a cover song should be done! Also to the Northern Kings "Rethroned" it's a fun album and my favorite track is "Roisin Dubh" (Black Rose cover)/"Legends of Rock" (Thin Lizzy cover) I give the entire album a 6.5/10
Northern Kings - Rethroned Tuesday, December 16, 2008 Craig I actually like the way Judas Priest remade "Johnny B Goode"
Northern Kings - Rethroned Tuesday, December 16, 2008 Stuart I don't like to cut on peoples opinions of any type of music but you felt the need to rip on Priest's version of Johnny B. Goode also, Yet you like the ridiculous version of Dimmu Borgir, the guy can't even sing the song properly. And while I'm not a huge fan of covers in the first place I do agree on your analogy Stuart of how you should do a cover version.
Firehouse - Prime Time Tuesday, December 16, 2008 the one thing that bugs me about this album is that Michael Foster and Bill Leverty sing and I really don't care for either of their vocals. I love C.J. Snares voice and the songs he sings are pretty darn good, I still don't think this album is up to par with their first 3 releases. 6/10
Guns N' Roses - Chinese Democracy Tuesday, December 16, 2008 This is not a horrible album but you can tell the songs are written with too many different people and there is no really distinct direction of this album. But Axl's vocals are really strong. My personal favorite song is "If The World" which really doesn't fit the album but I really like this tune and I love the guitar playing and Axl's vocals are chilling in the song they are so good. Michael you did a really good review on this album. 7/10 for me also
Raine Maida - The Hunters Lullaby Thursday, December 4, 2008 This album is truly unique. I really enjoy it. And I love the song "Yellow Brick Road". Lyrically this album is top notch and his vocals show a lot of sincerity. 8.5/10
Yngwie Malmsteen - Perpetual Flame Friday, November 28, 2008 Heaven Tonight was one of my favorite videos growing up, I remember they used to play it alot on Headbanger's Ball back in the day.
Karmakanic - Who's the Boss in the Factory? Friday, November 28, 2008 You are correct, I get really bored with this disc. But in some cases I love noodling but it should bring the song some place different and I don't get that from this album, Dream Theater are genius' at making long songs interesting where you want to hear them over and over.
Yngwie Malmsteen - Perpetual Flame Thursday, November 27, 2008 Yes Jeff sang on "Rising Force", "Marching Out", "Live 85/EP", "Inspiration". Alanna I remember that commercial, and Sunstorm is a great melodic album, and i used to love "Rescue You" although I haven't heard it in years.
Yngwie Malmsteen - Perpetual Flame Thursday, November 27, 2008 "Inspiration" is so good with all the vocalists, my favorite song besides "Carry On My Wayward Son" with Jeff Scott Soto is "Child In Time" with Mark Boals singing at it's one of his finest vocal performances of his amazing career. For all Yngwie vocalists it's hard for me to chose a favorite but my favorite albums are the ones with Mike Vescera singing, I just love those albums and Vescera's vocals are stunning. Goran is truly another one of the greatest underrated vocalists, although I am disappointed in his newest project KARMAKANIC "WHO'S THE BOSS IN THE FACTORY" not a fan of the album for some reason. But his other new release SHADRANE - "TEMPORAL" is stunning.
Karmakanic - Who's the Boss in the Factory? Thursday, November 27, 2008 There is no denying the talent that this album boasts, especially with one of my favorite vocalists Goran Edman. But for some reason all the songs seem to lack that special something. Fans of Goran Edman should check out his other new release Shadrane-"Temporal" more in the vein of Dream Theater & Queensryche. I rate Karmakanic - Who's the Boss in the Factory? 6/10
Yngwie Malmsteen - Perpetual Flame Thursday, November 27, 2008 Alanna have you also seen Joe Lynn Turner in the commercial for Domino's Pizza, you can check out out on youtube.com just type in "Triple Loaded" it's for the new triple loaded pizza!(It's Funny)
Yngwie Malmsteen - Perpetual Flame Wednesday, November 26, 2008 that's alright you either love Yngwie or you don't.
Yngwie Malmsteen - Perpetual Flame Wednesday, November 26, 2008 Joe Lynn Turner is maybe the greatest underrated vocalist in my opinion! (Along with Jeff Scott Soto)
Yngwie Malmsteen - Perpetual Flame Wednesday, November 26, 2008 I think Gizmo has it ingrained in his mind of how he personally feels towards Yngwie, that he won't ever be able to fully become a fan of his music. But to be honest I met Yngwie in Minneapolis MN. after a concert he played and he was extremely nice, he took the time out to talk with me and sign autographs for me along with some of my friends.
TNT - Atlantis Sunday, November 23, 2008 Tekrofan, I agree 100% fans of the Harnell era will like this alot better than "The New Territory"
From the Inside - Visions Saturday, November 22, 2008 Yes I love Morning Wood, and I truly love the album "Transistor" and "Because I Love You" is a great song. I personally love "Fantasia Espanola". If you check out Butch Walker I have a feeling you'll love him, He's so talented and his albums are so different from one another yet you know it's him, He definitely has his own sound. And how you mentioned Tony Harnells phrasing in "Because I Love You" which is top notch, that's where I really feel Butch excels in, Is his phrasing and his tongue in cheek type of approach. He can write extremely deep lyrics and make them sound silly at the same time or so heartfelt you'll cry to his songs!(He's a genius)
Starbreaker - Love's Dying Wish Friday, November 21, 2008 I can see how some people might not like the modernized sound but I personally think the album is better for it. Yes I'm a huge Magnus Karlsson fan to.
From the Inside - Visions Friday, November 21, 2008 I've been on a huge Danny Vaughn & Tony Harnell kick lately and all the music they've made over the years. I've also been thinking Tyketto "Don't Come Easy" wasn't as popular as it should have been, is because there music was more mature than the other bands even though it was just as melodic and had the slick production of that era of music. Also, From the Inside - Visions gets better and better each time I listen to it. Yes I'm extremely grateful Danny Vaughn stuck with music all these years. Alanna you should also check out Butch Walker (if you haven't already) he's amazing in every aspect of the word, he has stuck with music forever also, He used to be the guitar player for Southgang then he was the vocalist/guitarist for Marvelous 3 now he's solo and usually plays & produces all his own music. (His new album is Sycamore Meadows) he's also a huge producer these days but his own music is very heartfelt and his vocals are amazing.
Yngwie Malmsteen - Perpetual Flame Thursday, November 20, 2008 I definitely think the Vescera solo album is worth it. He's got an incredible voice. First give your "Seventh Sign" a listen if you still don't like it, then you may not like Vescera's solo album. They are very similar in style. You should check out Starbreaker's new album "Loves Dying Wish" it's not only one of my favorite new releases but it's one of my favorites of all time. I listen to it constantly. Tony Harnell (ex-TNT) is the vocalist and he is in top form on this album. The music is modern sounding with a very dark melodic flavor with some progressive feels to the album.
Green Day - American Idiot Thursday, November 20, 2008 This is actually a good commercial pop album. Some very good melodies. Anyone who thinks Green Day is a true punk band is wrong though, Green Day are a pop band through and through. They have lots of layered vocals, guitar parts, and excellent production. That 's something true punk bands hate they like raw in your face 3 chords down your throat type of music. (I honestly cannot stand punk music) Green Day have really made a good album and should be proud of this album. 6.5/10
Starbreaker - Love's Dying Wish Thursday, November 20, 2008 I cannot get enough of this album. It's so good! Your review is very good. This album has a very modern sound with a dark melodic flavor with hints of progressive rock. Tony Harnell is a vocal god, his vocal range is unbelievable and he truly shines throughout this masterpiece. 10/10
TNT - Atlantis Thursday, November 20, 2008 I have to re-comment on this album because I've been listening to this album alot lately and liking it more and more upon each listen. When I first listened to it I really liked it and gave it a 7/10 but I feel as if I must up my rating to an 8/10. So Brian I apologize for being in "WOW" of your 8.5/10 rating at first. Fans of the Harnell era I believe will truly love this album. If you bought "The New Territory" and are afraid that it has the same sound, Don't be afraid it has a classic TNT sound with a Beatles type influence.
Various Artists - Playlist - November/December 2008 Thursday, November 20, 2008 Mike Baker was an amazing vocalist, Shadow Gallery were such an underrated band. Mike will be missed (R.I.P.)
Yngwie Malmsteen - Perpetual Flame Wednesday, November 19, 2008 Gizmo, I just got Dreamtale "Phoenix" and it's really good but not extremely great. While they are very talented something seems to be missing. they have a Sonata Arctica type of feel but I still would rather listen Sonata Arctica. But don't feel as if I'm putting down "Dreamtale" because I'm not)
Savatage - Edge Of Thorns Wednesday, November 19, 2008 I see there are some mixed reviews for "Edge Of Thorns" which is understandable having a new vocalist (Zak Stevens) at the time. I was a huge Savatage fan before this album and I was bummed when I heard Jon Oliva wasn't the lead vocalist an longer. I was bummed until I heard the brilliant vocals of Zak Stevens who blew me away, and to be honest I prefer his vocals over Jon Oliva's (Although I do love Jon's. although Jon has really lost his vocal range over the years) This album is a 10/10 which is weird because there are 2 songs on this album I don't really care for which are "Lights Out" and "Skraggy's Tomb" but the other songs are so amazing I have to give this album a 10/10. Criss' guitar playing is amazing, blending speed with emotion and anger with beauty. This may be the greatest guitaring album in history of music.
Savatage - Dead Winter Dead Wednesday, November 19, 2008 There's nothing I can really add to your review because it is extremely well written. The only thing I differ upon is your 9/10 rating. Which is a "Genius" rating but for some reason that seems insulting for how truly great this album. If any alum truly deserves a 10/10 rating this is the album. The story line is marvelous and the music and vocals compliment it to perfection. For story albums this rates up there with the very best Queensryche's "Operation Mindcrime"& Dream Theater's "Scenes From A Memory"
Savatage - Dead Winter Dead Wednesday, November 19, 2008 I a made a couple of spelling errors in my review. Please forgive me. :)
Savatage - Dead Winter Dead Wednesday, November 19, 2008 Oops I did it again
From the Inside - Visions Wednesday, November 19, 2008 Alanna, "Don't Come Easy" I also pulled out and listened to it today. I honestly cannot believe how great the album is. and I'm surprised that it didn't have more success than it did at the time. Listening to it today I was in "WOW" of how great Brooke St. James guitar work is. He has a Criss Oliva (R.I.P.) type of quality to his playing while they don't sound alike they both concentrate on emotion of the guitar even when they are playing extremely fast.
Yngwie Malmsteen - Perpetual Flame Wednesday, November 19, 2008 My sweet Alanna, "Seventh sign" is my all time favorite album of Yngwie's and I do agree he plays with feeling. And I hope Gizmo can get past Yngwie's personality to enjoy his music. Because "Seventh Sign" is a pure gem. Michael Vescera for me is the highlight of the album, He has a Mark Slaughter type of vocal. Have you heard Mike Vescera's new album "A Sign Of Things To Come" if not give it a listen. It has the same type of feeling as "Seventh Sign" & "Magnum Opus"
Megadeth - Rust In Peace Wednesday, November 19, 2008 This very well may be the greatest heavy metal album of all time. To me there is no flaws on the album. The lyrics and music is extraordinaire. Dave & Marty's guitar playing is so intense and technical, for anyone who plays guitar this is what you should strive to play and to come up with this type of music on your own, It's mind blowing. Nick Menza's drumming is phenomenal. And while Dave's not the greatest vocalist ever, his vocals somehow fit perfectly with the music. This album is a perfect 10/10
Cradle of Filth - Godspeed On The Devil's Thunder Wednesday, November 19, 2008 I'm not the biggest Cradle Of Filth fan, but musically you can't deny how talented this band is. On their past efforts I always loved the music but was always thrown off by Dani's high pitched screaming. On this album Dani is starting to do different things with his vocals not just high pitched screaming but the problem is the music is getting less progressive and more mainstream sounding. While it's a good album, I think Cradle Of Filth is capable of better material. 6/10
TNT - My Religion Wednesday, November 19, 2008 This is an album I love! Tony Harnell's vocals are top notch as always (As I'm commenting I'm listening to Starbreaker's new disc "Loves Dying Wish" Harnell is a vocal god) TNT with Harnell to me is pure magic and this album is a return to classic form with a hint of a modernized sound. This album for me is a "Masterpiece" for I still listen to it on a modern day basis. 10/10
TNT - The New Territory Wednesday, November 19, 2008 This album is terrible. I truly cannot listen to any song all the way through. A sad album in the world of TNT. But I don't put the blame on new vocalist Tony Mills (He's actually a very talented vocalist) It's everything musically, The songs just don't mesh and are all over the place. 2/10 for me but there new album "Atlantis" is pretty good and worth listening to.
From the Inside - Visions Tuesday, November 18, 2008 first of all Alanna I love you for all the music you like!(woooh hoooh!) But to be serious my favorite album Danny has ever been on is Tyketto's debut "Don't Come Easy" I remember buying this album when it was first released and I listened to it like crazy because of Danny's vocals and the great guitar work by Brooke St. James. Every song is a winner and a sense of magic in every song, very timeless album! A perfect 10/10 for Tyketto "Don't Come Easy"
Yngwie Malmsteen - Perpetual Flame Tuesday, November 18, 2008 I agree this is the best album since "Seventh Sign" & "Magnum Opus". As for Gizmo if you are really willing to give Yngwie a listen I think you'd like the above mentioned albums. Those 2 albums don't stick to the classic, classical influenced music Yngwie is known for, While at the same time you know it's Yngwie. but I love all Yngwie's music and all the extremely talented vocalists he's played with.
Frameshift - An Absence of Empathy Tuesday, November 18, 2008 I have to comment on this album, this album gives me chills everytime I listen to it. It's perfect as perfect can get. Sebastian's vocals are mind blowing they are so good. This album is for fans of Skid Row (Subhuman Race Era), Rush, Dream Theater, Fates Warning. Well pretty much any progressive type of band. But believe me this album has a sound all it's own. And I agree 100% that Henning Pauly is pure fucking genius. This album for me is nothing short of a perfect 10/10
Fates Warning - Parallels Tuesday, November 18, 2008 I have to agree with my brother this album is a perfect 10/10. Every song is a winner. The first time I heard "Life In Still Water" was a mind blowing experience. I love the drum work by Mark Zonder in that song (Mind boggling it's so good). And the now classic "The Eleventh Hour" is such a great song. Well every song is amazing for me. I remember having to buy this tape, Yes tape back in the day over and over because I wore them out buy playing them so much.
Yngwie Malmsteen - Perpetual Flame Tuesday, November 18, 2008 Gizmo I do agree Owens is the man! You still may not like "Seventh Sign" but it's a different direction of Yngwie's usual convention of making songs. I'll have to check out Dreamtale. I'll let you know what I think of it.
T Ride - T Ride Monday, November 17, 2008 Excellent review, This just happens to be my favorite album of all time along with Mindbomb's self titled debut. There is not much I can add that you already didn't touch but fans of any genre of music will love these guys. And this album is timeless and it's still way a head of its time....This album is truly a perfect 10/10
TNT - Atlantis Monday, November 17, 2008 Wow!...I'm surprised this album got a 8.5/10 not that this album is bad by any means it's actually got a lot of great stuff going on. "Atlantis" is like mixing TNT with The Beatles, lots of layered vocals and vocal harmonies, sometimes in some songs it just doesn't cut it for me but then there are perfect songs. My favorite is the upbeat happy tune "Love Of My Life" it sounds like classic TNT and he even reminds me of Tony Harnell in this song as well as "Tango Girl" which is totally infectious and sounds just like classic TNT....a solid 7/10....I see my brother ThraX gave it a bad review but in his defense he his the most die hard Tony Harnell fan you'll ever meet.
Yngwie Malmsteen - Perpetual Flame Monday, November 17, 2008 Alanna your review of this is extremely well written. I'm a huge Tim Owens and Yngwie fan. And I was expecting a more modern day sounding album but this album is as classic Yngwie as you'll ever get. While it's a great album I'm more prone to listen to the classic stuff that's holds memories for me rather than this. I was hoping he'd make an album like "Seventh Sign" or "Magnum Opus" which for Yngwie are very different musically compared to his other works.
Buckcherry - Black Butterfly Monday, November 17, 2008 I'm not a huge Buckcherry fan. But I do like that they are a pure rock band plain and simple that gets a lot of radio attention. Besides the god awful song "Too Drunk To Fuck" this is their best alum musically and lyrically speaking. 6.5/10
Yngwie Malmsteen - Perpetual Flame Monday, November 17, 2008 Gizmo, If you're not a fan of Yngwie's music believe me you will not like this album, Owens won't change your perception of this album. Yngwie's always been blessed with top of the line vocalists. But this album sounds exactly like classic Yngwie.

From the Inside - Visions Monday, November 17, 2008 Perfect review, I feel the exact same way about this disc. But Danny Vaughn's vocals always are top notch, he has one of the purest, powerful & most distinct vocals ever, Every time I hear his voice it gives me goosebumps! 7.5/10
