Steelheart latest studio album "Wait" was only released in
Asia and dates back to 1996. Compared to
Steelheart's first two hit-releases Mike Matijevic assembled a new band for the release of "Wait". The album also marked a new approach for
Steelheart since the album moved in a more modern direction.
Some critics have condemned "Good 2B Alive" because it is far away from
Angel Eyes, Can't Stop Me Lovin' You etc. However,
Steelheart took the major step from "Tangled in Reins" to "Wait". Keep in mind the 12 year gap till "Good 2B Alive", which just shows that Mike Matijevic keeps progressing as songwriter and musician. He has changed his name back to Miljenko Matijevic, but kept his forceful vocals. "Good 2B Alive" certainly proves that Matijevic's pipes still sounds great despite him not singing really high notes.
"Good 2B Alive" has a lot to offer for the open minded listener. The music is multi faced - like the brilliant
I Breathe, which takes the listener through many musical landscapes.
Buried Unkind has a very
Un-Rock N' Roll middle play, which contains whistling but it works. Miljenko Matijevic is not afraid to explore new musical ground
The record grows on you. It's basically a modern mid-tempo affair continuing on the legacy of Led Zeppelin.. Mr. Matijevic plays most guitars and while the tempo of the music has slowed down, the detuned guitars are more aggressive than ever making it a very bombastic album
The "new"
Steelheart has a great vibe and a fresh sound - it is not for all "old"
Steelheart fans or the average rock fan. This is 21
st century Hard Rock!
