Is
Buckcherry damn lucky or damn good? The correct answer is both!
Buckcherry managed to create quite a buzz with their debut album even though it was released when Hard Rock on the sideline in favor of Grunge.
Another album "Time Bomb" was released, but then
Buckcherry disappeared only to resurface stronger than ever with "15", which against all odds earned them a platinum album in the US.
Buckcherry has mostly been a US phenomenon, but "Black Butterfly" could break the band in
Europe - they just need their usual luck.
This new album is once again packed with contemporary rockers driven by Josh Todd's characteristic voice. The album has three standout tracks; album opener
Rescue Me is a strong candidate to song of the year.
Dreams and
Don't Go Away are both mellow until the chorus kicks in. Both songs should be big US hits since they sound perfect for radio.
The only original members Joss Todd and Keith
Nelson are also main songwriters and they have evolved into a well-oiled writing machine with focus on melodies. "Black Butterfly" certainly won't disappoint any fans of the band.
The lyrics spans wide from child abuse on the obscure up-beat
Child Called it to primitive testosterone humor on
Too Drunk to Fuck.
"Black Butterfly" is 12 guitar driven songs. The band is tight and has a great vibe with Josh Todd's raw rocking vocals as the icing on the cake.
