@Little Drummer Boy : Killer track - Exactly !!

Yeah, that bass solo fits perfectly in right there - works very well as a "red line"

Pink Floyd - My top 10 Pink Floyd Songs
Sunday, March 27, 2011
Thanks! sorry I'm posting this so late!

You're so right, Pink Floyd is the greatest band to ever walk this planet...well for the past, almost, 3 months, I have had an inner fight... yeah pretty intense hehe... Dream Theater vs. Pink Floyd... so I had to take a break from DT, for the first time in my life. I listen to DT everyday, it keeps me sane along with Pink Floyd. 1 month break from DT... very difficult! However, I have come to the conclusion that I believe that Pink Floyd is the greatest band ever...SO I have to change my "all time favorite bands list " on my staffpage. But I have to wait for the new DT album before I change it up - crazy amount of time I spend on thinking about DT and Pink Floyd , I know.

And now to the point:
Great top 10! My top ten started out as a top 20, which practically included most of the songs that are on your top 10, well besides the songs that I already have listed :)
I don't see "Echoes" on your top ten :( but it's good to know that you feel the same way about "Comfortably Numb" = I'm not crazy

Various Artists - My favorite workout music lately!

@ Little Drummer Boy:
haha no, I'm not running marathons ... I only imagine that!

When Bruce sings: "the loneliness of the long distance runner run, on and on" I'm thinking: Hell yeah, damn I'm good ! ...and that's is simply why I love listening to that song while I'm running haha ;)
...and well it's an awesome song too! Up the Irons!
However, maybe somewhere in time (sorry ;)), I will run marathons!

@Little Dummer Boy:
A really really amazing band! and Edge of Thorns.... uhh goose bumps!!! :-) love every second of it!

Manowar Marathon... I'm ALL IN! HAIL! haha :)

Better Off Dead is a great song, however, Anathema seem to capture the right atmosphere of the lyrics..
I forgot to mention the fact that Anathema have picked some very good songs to cover. They fit extremely well into the theme of the album...so you remain in the equivalent atmosphere throughout the album.

Various Artists - Nina's Albums Of The Year - 2009
Tuesday, February 9, 2010
Nina, I totally agree on the balled "Father" just a waste of time. If you think Father (I suppose the English version) is the most nauseating balled in their carrier, then be glad you aren't Polish..It only gets worse!
It's the most disgusting balled I've ever heard in my life! Why did they have to do a polish version? WHY? I don't know what it is...it's not Manowar. Never ever heard something that nauseating in my life. Seriously. I even had to read the lyrics to understand what the hell Adams is singing in "Polish". However, on the other side I've probably never ever laughed my ass off like the first time I heard it haha :)

Dream Theater - Dream Theater with Opeth, KB Hallen, Copenhagen - September 27th, 2009
Tuesday, October 20, 2009
Great review, I admire your critical view Tommy... when it comes to DT I just can't remain objective.
However, I miss one thing in your review... you don't even mention how great they were looking!?!?!
I don't know.. was it your view? ;) - it lacks some female opinion ;)
But you're right about the first line of Voices.
oohhh... what a great concert. My first DT gig ...I have never been so nervous before a concert, really, and I've probably never been so happy after a concert and I'm still not over it.
Erotomania and Voices were my personal highlights. I've always wished to experience those live. I must say; the guys almost swept me off my feet .. John Petrucci.. the guitar solo in the ending of Voices.. man .. I knew it was coming, but still, I was totally surprised by the dimension..chills... and just looking at him while he nailed this solo, wauw, I've only experienced that in my dreams... And hearing James singing one of my fave DT lines :" I'm lying here in bed swear my skin is inside out just another Sunday morning ..." was magical.
I was more than pleased to hear Forsaken, because I finally had the chance of having my arms in the air and singing : "Take me far away.." out loud while looking at my heroes...that's every girls dream ;)
Okay, I could go on like this for hours ..unserious.. because I'm wuuhuu in my head when it comes to DT.

Opeth had few shining moments and nothing more. I was quit disappointed. I just thought that they would be more impressive live...I like their style and their music, however, they were pretty dead on stage.

Bigelf, on the other hand was great. They impressed me with their metallic Pink Floyd sound, very cool and alive. I defiantly have to hear more from this band in the future.

Well my dream finally came true that night and this is the last thing I think about before I close my eyes at night - with a big smile all over my face - What a night to remember :)

Nightwish - Live with Pain at Glasgow Carling Academy - March 31st 2008
Tuesday, July 21, 2009
I agree with everything in your review, which is btw great. I went to Hamburg about a year ago or more to see Nightwish and it was almost the same set list just lacking 7 Days to The Wolves I was so disappointed about that... I was so sure that they would play it because I believe it is one of the greatest songs from DPP.
I feel for you about Pain, however, I had to suffer even more than you. A German band (I can't remember the name of the band haha) played before Pain and that was TERRIBLE totally Rammstein copy band awful... and I can't even stand Rammstein.. Pain was bad too, however, not as bad as the German band, I'm soo glad that I wasn't totally sober.
I completely agree, and I was thinking the same as you when they started out playing Bye Bye Beautiful I found it very obscure.
When Annette started singing my face looked like this: O I think it hit me, at that time, that Tarja had "left" the band , and I also found it very weird that Annette was wearing Hello Kitty cloths hmm, what a change, however, that's is just a detail.

The highlights that night: The Islander and Last of Wilds. The Islander was so well delivered and the atmosphere was cozy, I loved the DDP candles, Marco's voice was amazing that night. Last of wilds was amazing too and everyone in the audience also stared to hop around like madmen and holding each other's shoulders - it was so much fun.
It was my first Nightwish gig so, I was glad that I finally had the chance to experience them, but it was only OK.. Annette's voice had some trouble not only once but twice that night, so Marco had to help her out and Tuomas forgot to play the right notes, so that was funny. Annette is just too random for Nightwish imo.

Virgin Steele - Age Of Consent

ohh... if I have to rate it based on the original songs it must be an 8,5... I LOVE Strangers At The Gate and Perfect Mansions... of the bonus tracks.

Bad Habit - Above And Beyond
Friday, April 10, 2009
I just recently discovered this great swedish melodic rock band, and this release is very catchy. I have been listing to it almost on daily basis. Above and Beyond is a perfect album for this time of the year and it improves my mood instantly!
I agree with Tommy, the production is a bit too polished and "pretty" and it takes some of the edginess away. Unfortunately. But still... what an amazing release.

...Just watched the videos for "I don't want you" and " and the title track...
and they are soo random.
Really not my taste.

Magic Circle Festival 2008 - Steen's Festival Report
Tuesday, January 27, 2009

I'm a huge Manowar fan too and I'm soo jealous.. the first 6 albums live! ..what more can you ask for? ..sounds like a dream to me.

Dream Theater - Images And Words
Sunday, January 25, 2009
One of my all time favorite albums! It really is a masterpiece from the greatest band in the world: Dream Theater!
Every single second is pure pleasure. Dream Theater is not a band you listen to ... it is very special and it takes time to get into, however, it is all worth it in the end!
The lyrics are in their own very very well written and their technical flair is just overwhelming.. unbelievable!
I don´t think I can describe Metropolis - part 1, however Tommy does it quite well - everyone simply have to hear this, it's a must.
Take the Time is very uplifting and yes, full of details!
Learning to Live really makes me wonder about life and reflecting on my own. The lyrics are amazing! "The way your heart sounds makes all the difference, it´s what decides if you´ll endure the pain that we all feel, the way your heart beats makes all the difference in learning to live"
Wait for Sleep is another very touching song. In its shortness it really brilliances
By the way: eexcellent review!
A true masterpiece!
