December/January 2010 - Sandra
Anathema - Judgement
One of my latest band discoveries. This album has a very depressive atmosphere with some cool Pink Floyd inspired elements and very touching lyrics. However, there's maybe just a little too far between the outstanding moments, like the breakthrough in Jugdement or the cold duet Parisienne Moonlight and the heartbreaking One Last Time. Review coming up.

Bon Jovi - The Circle
I'm still a bit disappointed with this album, they can do better. I miss some party hits or at least some killer cleaning songs! An overall good disc.

Osada Vida - Uninvited Dreams
This album is very elaborate and there's still many listens to come to it opens up. It's defiantly the best Prog. Rock act from Poland I've heard. You really have to pay attention. There's clearly some inspiration from the Yes, Porcupine Tree, Pink Floyd, but with a twist of some cool elements from jazz and funk.

Porcupine Tree - In Absentia
A creepy but very interesting theme. Blackest Eyes, Trains, Wedding Nails, Heart attack In A Lay By are my favorites on the album. Review coming up.

Porcupine Tree - The Incident
This is their latest release and the soundscape is something in between Pink Floyd and Opeth. A very interesting release with many details and a modern touch. Unfortunately, disc two doesn't hold the high standard. Review coming up

Redemption - Snowfall on Judgementday
This is defiantly my favorite album of 2009! I'm really amazed and it keeps getting better every time I listen to it.

Richie Kotzen - Into The black
I just have to have a shot of Richie Kotzen at least once in a week. This album never gets boring and I've listened to this one for about 6 months, it just gets better and better. It's simply impossible not singing along throughout the album! My favorite song is without doubt The Shadow, even though all the songs stand out.

Savatage - Gutter ballet
Savatage was my greatest discovery last year, and not to forget Virgin Steele. This album is now on my "favorite albums" list. It has all what I'm looking for in a Heavy Metal album. You laugh, you get scared and touched. This album has made a huge impact on me.  When I'm brushing my teeth I'm thinking  about the most touching guitar solos from Criss Oliva, when I go shopping while I'm listening to Gutter ballet, I  forget what I had to buy and feel like screaming "it's a Gutter ballet!" out loud and suddenly I feel a huge urge to dance all over the supermarket to the groovy rhythm.  When I'm falling asleep and listening to When The Crowds Are Gone and getting the chills from Jon Oliva's voice and when I'm sitting in the classroom and just staring out of the window, the tones of Temptation Revelation drift into my mind. When I feel a bit down and listen to Of Rage and War the line "Son of a bitch" puts a smile on my lip again. AND this album just get even more divine outside when I'm standing by the ocean closing my eyes and listening to Summer's Rain and just drift away from everything. What can I say? She's in love!

W.E.T. - W.E.T.
Love it! It's catchy as hell, I can't stop singing along and it will improve your mood instantly.

Just don't mention When The Crowds Are Gone around Steen or he will launch in to his world famous rendition of it :)

Hehe I'm sure it would turn out to be a memorable duet.

Great to see a newborn Savatage fan!

Mentally yours,
Steen
