Vains of Jenna - The Demos
High on the heels of their debut album RLS Records proudly presents this archive release from Vains of Jenna. As the title indicates this is a collection of the original Vains of Jenna demo recordings.

The two EP's "Noone's Gonna Do it for You" and the 4 track EP "Baby's Got A Secret" are both included plus two unreleased songs recorded at Redrum Recording in L.A. by Gilby Clarke.

There are 3 important things to notice about this album. First; Vains of Jenna is a relatively new band and all songs dates back to 2005, so they sound fresh. Second; the sound is great for a demo release and almost matches the debut album. Third; the quality of these songs are high - this is not a bunch of rejected songs. All together this is a great release for Vains of Jenna fans, but also newcomers should not be afraid to purchase despite these are demos

The album opens with an intro that does what an intro should do - namely create a mood that quickly is destroyed by the raw and raunchy A.S.A.D.

Two "Lit Up/Let Down" album tracks are featured in their original form. Baby's Got a Secret is just like the album version , but Hard To Be Vain sees guitarist Nicki Kin adding some vocals and this version is a bit faster than the "Lit Up/Let Down" version.

The boys also did an updated version of Rolling Stones' Jumping Jack Flash. Like I stated in my review of "Lit Up/Let Down"; even though Vains of Jenna is considered sleaze their music is rooted in traditional Rock 'N' Roll, which the Stones represent so well. Therefore this cover sounds free flowing and very natural from the young Swedes.

Both unreleased recordings taken from the Gilby Clarke sessions are recorded live with no overdubs and therefore blends in fine on this demo collection. Kick it has a Guns N' Roses vibe to it - the song lacks a killer chorus but has a great drive.

One Last Pleasure is the album highlight and might be yours truly all time Vains of Jenna favorite song. The intro to the song creates a certain emotion and the intro solo from Nicki Kin is cut right from the classic Rock N' Roll school. Lizzy DeVine's vocals are excellent and he gives himself more as the song progresses. A super sleaze rock song with superb chorus.

"The Demos" has a playing time of around 32 minutes. A must have for fans and highly recommended to everyone that likes their Rock N' Roll with a touch of Sleaze.
