Hi LDB,

As I wrote above, if the hosting fee is met "the site will stay online in its current state and work as an archive. There will be no new articles, but at least our work will still be available."

All my reviewers would like to stay on, but I am closing the site. The only question is if it stays online in its current state or disappears completely.

Sad to hear. This has been my primary go to site since 2003. I have been introduce many new bands and kept up to date with many other artists that I have been listening to from years past.

Steen your site cost me a lot of money in CD purchases :-)

Your site over the years became a community. I feel as though I have gotten to know quite a few of you over the years (through the music). Be it you, Alanna, Nina, Brian and so forth. It is that interaction between each reviewer and it's members is what keeps it unique.

Steen if you reach your goal how many of your current reviewers would be willing to stay on?

It is really sad news. Beeing part of this website has been an honor and a very special feeling. I would like to thank all of my fellow writers for all the fun, the various views on Metal, great reviews and other experiences throughout the years. And of course, especially you, Steen, for all the hard work, dedication and money, you’ve put into the site.

I wish everyone all the best in the future!

Man, I don't know what to say...

From the time I had the honor of writing for the site, RevelationZ has been a constant thing, always there when I wanted to check out new stuff. Steen, I certainly understand that it is a lot of money to pay all by yourself. $1000 is a lot of money, especially when you have a family and a child to support.

Thank you for all your hard work over the years, it was very much appreciated. And thanks for all the fish!

Best wishes,
Tajs

Full Album Due From Osukaru

I though Carl Johan was a decent vocalist. Though I do have to admit his vocal style brought some limitations to Oz's material on the previous Ep's. Out Of Touch is the one that stands out in my mind where Carl would fit in seamlessly and then in another passages it just did not work well together.

Is anyone familiar with their new vocalist Tiann?

Statement From Joey DeMaio Regarding Manowar's UK Tour

Still waiting for a North American tour with a west coast Canadian date.

Free Download Of New Anthrax Song Available
Posted by Little Drummer Boy - Sunday, July 10, 2011
A little more melodic than the early years with Joey but sounding good. Almost the original line up. Still minus Dan Spitz.

It has been a lot of years since I have listened to Joey's vocals but it is sounding a little lower and practiced (controlled) for that range. Time to pull out some old Anthrax out of the archives.

Be The First To Listen To Dream Theater's New Track
Posted by Little Drummer Boy - Sunday, July 10, 2011
It is a good track. Mike sounds excellent behind the kit. Slightly different style and of course hardware. Deeper snare, more use of the floor toms and I noticed some simple fills that was very tasteful and dramatic. Perhaps It was MM's audition to the public on the first mastered work so I was looking for every little nuance in the final product. I am excited to hear the new DT this Sept. I believe that is the correct time frame we will see the new album.

wow,i really want to like this track...maybe if this would have existed in early 90's I would have, but flash back to the present and after so many great bands(symphony x for instance) invading my brainwaves over the years, and DT just doesn't seem all that special an experience anymore.

Metallica To Release Album With Lou Reed
Posted by Little Drummer Boy - Friday, July 1, 2011
"not really 100 percent a Metallica record"... I think they accomplished this task once before. Can you say Load and Reload...and what the hell, lets through in St. Anger. And shall I also look at the horrible mix of Death Magnetic that sound as though they threw away the base tracks. Personally I do not think we will ever hear a Metallica album that is really 100% ever again.

However I have loads of respect for Lou Reed and what he has accomplished for the past 40 years.

Perhaps Metallica will take a walk on the wild side.

Sorry, I could not resist.

Kamelot - Roy Khan Officially Leaves Kamelot
Posted by Alanna - Sunday, April 24, 2011
I was hoping this wasn't going to happen... but it did. I love every moment of Khan's career with Kamelot, with the exception of the snoozy first disc with him "Siege Perilous". His theatrical style put them on a different level than other power metal bands. They were also headed into a direction that I was anxious to see come to it's peak. Since the progression with Khan has been aborted, that makes (for me) the default pinnacle "The Black Halo". I believe they can continue on without him, I have very much enjoyed some of the live clips that have surfaced with Fabio on board, but it is just not quite the same with Khan.

I'm pretty upset and angry over this, really. Khan can redeem himself if he helps kickstart Conception again. I would completely forgive these transgressions if that were to occur.

Dream Theater Mini Series: The Spirit Carries On
Posted by Little Drummer Boy - Saturday, April 23, 2011
Interesting.

I am one who is not fond of the "Reality TV" competitions but this has me intrigued.

DT is turning into a marketing machine. This is a perfect inside look at the auditioning process. I think we will be wowed at the high caliber of musicianship that these drummers will present. It will be a drum clinic.

Kamelot - Roy Khan Officially Leaves Kamelot
Posted by Stuart - Friday, April 22, 2011
To be honest, i think it might turn out to be a blessing in disguise that Khan has left. Youngblood admitted in an interview a while back that they would be playing older, faster and higher-pitched songs on the latest tour that Khan couldn't or wasn't interested in singing.

Since I'm not a fan of the route the band have taken in the last couple of records this may mean a return to the 4th Legacy/Karma sound with a new singer.

Kamelot - Roy Khan Officially Leaves Kamelot
Posted by Little Drummer Boy - Friday, April 22, 2011
This is turning out to be a year of turmoil for bands with international acclaim.

I read the the news within hours of their posting. The Khan era was something magical. The band as a whole had great chemistry. Even though Kamelot is Thomas' band, Khan ended up being a key member that helped bring Kamelot to where it is today. Khan is a factor as to why I became a fan of Kamelot.

Like Schaffer of Iced Earth, I am sure Thomas will find another talented vocalist for his band. But in both cases it have to be a wait and see.

K.K. Downing Leaves Judas Priest

Former Blaze Bayley Band Members Issue Statement
Posted by Little Drummer Boy - Saturday, April 2, 2011
There is still more than what meets the eye with this story. Regardless the of financial problems Blaze is having there are better ways of dealing with this. The members of the band deserve better since it was this line up that helped solidify his standing in the metal community. This move will hurt Blaze's future musical endeavors.

I am still curious what this medical condition, as per the previous news thread, is and how it affects Blaze's move.

Self-appointed girlfriend manager? hmmmm...

I am sure with the talents of Dave, Nico and Jay they will re-emerge as a "band" with a new metal offering showing Blaze has made a bad decision with the course of action he has taken.

Former Blaze Bayley Band Members Issue Statement

Oh, Blaze, why do you keep fucking this up?

Blaze Bayley Parts Ways With Band
Posted by Little Drummer Boy - Thursday, March 31, 2011
Sad to here. Blaze found himself a group of excellent musicians only to split up due to unfortunate circumstances. I am sure the financial problems started with SPV. Then running things under his own label is a risk as well. Though I am puzzled about the medical reasons. I was unaware of any health issues (though I would guess that is a private issue). Hope he get well.

Iced Earth Confirm New Vocalist
Posted by Steen - Thursday, March 24, 2011
Yeah, I'll be sure to bid Matt a fine farewell from the front row at Sweden Rock in June.

Iced Earth Confirm New Vocalist
Posted by Little Drummer Boy - Saturday, March 19, 2011
I Think Schaffer's choice is an interesting one. Block does have an excellent vocal range, but what I like is his vocal dynamics. It should be interesting to see if Schaffer opts to go heavier since Block is a good at the growls. First song I envisioned him singing (w/ his vocal dynamics) is "Violate" off the Dark Saga release. And no doubt he can pull off the songs from the Tim Owen's era. However there are a number of touring songs I question would quite right. Perhaps I identify Barlow as an integral part if IE sound.

At least Steen you will still get to see Barlow this summer. The article seems to read that touring and recording with Block will not commence till this winter.

They should go after Tim Owens again, He fit really well and has a great voice.

Matt Barlow Departs From Iced Earth
Posted by Steen - Sunday, March 6, 2011
You're right! Just checked the official site where it says:

"In his heartfelt statement, Barlow cites his commitment to his family and the need for Iced Earth to tour more as the reasons for his retirement; however, he has committed to perform with Iced Earth on all 2011 European festival dates, which will be his last with the band."

Matt Barlow Departs From Iced Earth
Posted by Little Drummer Boy - Saturday, March 5, 2011
I am however a little confused with one statement.

"It is going to be phenomenal to share the love of this music during several summer festivals and I know that it will be a time we will never forget. "

This tells me that Matt is at this time remained committed to a few festivals since getting a new vocalist to IE is time consuming. Perhaps this is Matt's final farewell.

Matt Barlow Departs From Iced Earth
Posted by Steen - Friday, March 4, 2011
The decision is understandable but damn, I was looking forward to hearing Matt back in Iced Earth at this years Sweden Rock. It will be most interesting to see who will pick up the torch. Now I can't help but wonder what the situation would have been in an alternate universe where Matt had stayed with Pyramaze.

Matt Barlow Departs From Iced Earth
Posted by Little Drummer Boy - Thursday, March 3, 2011
I did not see this coming. I wish Matt luck and Jon even more so since history will show Matt vocals has become a significant part of IE's sound. Pretty tough shoe to fill let alone sell.

Sorry...repeating statements there.

Iron Maiden wins "Best Metal Performance"
Posted by Little Drummer Boy - Tuesday, February 22, 2011
I agree it is a joke. It was the final frontier w/ that killer video, then perhaps it could be in the discussion. The Grammys are a lame duck and have been for decades. It is about what sells. And Iron Maiden is selling. Now if they picked Final Frontier (w/ that killer video) then we may have something to discuss. I would have gone with Slayer on that one.

Which, although good for Maiden, shows how much of a joke the Grammys are. El Dorado is a pretty bland song as far as Maiden go and nowhere near the best song on the album.

Redemption - News Update
Posted by Steen - Monday, February 14, 2011
Just my thoughts. To say my expectations are high must be the understatement of the year. If I ever do an update of my All time favorite songs article then Black and White World will be somewhere in the top three. Every listen leaves me with that "Wow..."-feeling.

Nightwish Reveals New Album And Film Plans
Posted by Little Drummer Boy - Sunday, February 13, 2011
Interesting. 13 songs for the album. I am going to guess that this will be released before the movie and then re-issued again with a complete score complete with new packaging once the movie is about to be released. Tuomas is an ambitious artist.

I am not surprised he wants to undertake such a project. It will open a lot of doors for him in the future when he opts to become a film composer. Thumbs up to him for following his dreams.

Redemption - News Update
Posted by Little Drummer Boy - Sunday, February 13, 2011
Very good update. It was good to get a detailed update and news of his health status.

I am still trying to wrap my head around how they intend to raise the bar. Snowfall was a brilliant release and was hands down my favorite of 2009. Snowfall is still in my rotation with Black & White World still leaving me in complete awe. In my opinion Redemption took the reigns of being the best in progressive metal. With that being said I found it interesting in changing producers since they had consecutive successes in their progression in achieving new heights. With news like that I am eager to hear the result, which I hope is by the end of the year.

Quiet Riot Return With New Singer
Posted by Alanna - Tuesday, September 14, 2010
Not terrible is my first impression. Huff's voice lacks the gritty, throaty rasp that DuBrow had, and has an altogether smoother approach. However those that are turning out for the concerts to only to hear the hits like "Cum On Feel the Noize" will be satisfied.

Mark Huff sounds quite a bit like DuBrow. I must admit I do not hear the energy that DuBrow had. It's the little things stylistically that are missing. Mind you it is simply a quick recording for promo of the tour. Be interesting to see them. Last time I saw them in the early 90's none of these band members were touring. It was Cavaso and DeBrow and the other 2 touring musicians I did not recognize.

Theater.

But yeah this is a baffling development. Haven't the band already been on a shut-down period while Labrie worked on his new solo album and Portnoy lived his rock star dreams touring with Avenged Sevenfold? I think he's being pretty unreasonable expecting them to just sit tight and wait until he starts feeling the love again while touring with other bands.

Sabaton To Re-Release Back Catalogue
Posted by gizmo - Tuesday, August 31, 2010
I always hate it when bands does this. Running wild, Scorpions, Iron maiden, Priest to name a few. It´s like pissing the fans in the face that has all the albums and then have to buy them all over again. Make the whole thing free on their homepage instead and reward the loyal fans instead of this cash in.

As a little comfort it seems like there will be a lot of extra material available, but it really kills me that this happens time after time. The link to the new bonus track sound pretty cool though.

And the albums are not hard to get these days in the old versions. That´s just not true!

I can easily understand that the band want more money for their effort but to do this is pathetic.

James LaBrie discusses 20 years of fronting Dream Theater
Posted by Sandra - Saturday, July 17, 2010
I’m sad to hear that. When I read that Dream Theater was going to be opening band for Iron Maiden I couldn’t believe my eyes, because I’m a HUGE fan of both bands. However, the problem you mention, about DT being an opening band and having a huge amount of material with long songs was exactly my concern. But what surprises me is that they didn’t fix the sound for DT – Come on, it is Dream Theater and you couldn’t even hear Labrie...that’s just unprofessional and must be a huge disappointment!.
Yeah, that’s a good question! I have been speculating about it too...they want to try something new? Haha, I don’t know because it’s legends we are talking about. But it’s defiantly a good deal for Dream Theater, that’s for sure!

James LaBrie discusses 20 years of fronting Dream Theater
Posted by Little Drummer Boy - Friday, July 16, 2010
Saw the concert w/ Maiden, I am sorry to say that DT is not an opening band. It was not good. Problem is DT has been around for a long time and has too much material to cover with a lot of epic songs. When they opened for Queensryche back in 2003 the time was shared and the mix for them was excellent. All 3 bands (Fates Warning) were stellar). Their performance would have been better if the sound engineers adjusted mix not having it set strictly for Iron Maiden. DT was so muddy sounding we could not even hear James Labrie. On the brighter side Maiden was excellent yet again and excellent stage set up.

The only question I have is; why does Maiden bother with an open band? So much material so little time. Still waiting for the band to play Sign Of The Cross (I know they did with the Brave New World tour but I missed that concert) and the Clansmen with Bruce.

Crimson Glory Unhappy With Box Set Plans
Posted by Craig - Wednesday, June 30, 2010
Metal Mind seem to love their re-issue cash-ins, but if they have bought the rights to these albums from Roadrunner in good faith then they haven't strictly done anything wrong.

This will all hinge on whether or not Roadrunner had the right to sell the albums to Metal Mind in the first place. Maybe Crimson Glory overlooked something in a contract or signed a deal they now regret agreeing to?

Crimson Glory Unhappy With Box Set Plans
Posted by Steen - Wednesday, June 30, 2010
I remember reading something similar about Metal Mind Records before. Another band, same story.

I bought the Transcendence remaster when Metal Mind released it a couple of years ago. I was disappointed that the sound was pretty much exactly the same as the original. It felt like a cheap cash-in.

Samples Of New Blind Guardian Album Released

The single has leaked some weeks ago. Those song are very mixed they vary from great to sucks.

The track "A voice in the dark" is very good better than expected.

The second track is a Ballad not that good but not bad either, it´s called War of the Thrones.

The third track is a cover of John Farnham´s You´re the voice. It really sucks

All in all my expectations for the new album has been lifted :0)

Ex-Dio Keyboard Player Comments On Ronnie James Dio
Posted by Stuart - Tuesday, May 18, 2010
I think it says something about what sort of person Ronnie was when almost every metal musician/fan who has been lucky enough to meet him has spoken about how amazing he was over the past few days.

When did you get the opportunity to meet the wee man Nina?

I would have loved to have spoken to him but closest I got to him off-stage was watching from afar as him and the band jumped out of a taxi and were ushered into the back door of a venue.

Ex-Dio Keyboard Player Comments On Ronnie James Dio

Those were some very insightful and beautiful comments from Jens Johansson - and I believe very true, both concerning Dios enormous talent and his personality! Having had the honor of meeting the man myself, I must say I believe his description of Dio to be very true, a very kind, helpful, respectful and altogether nice person, who treated his fans like royalty. He will be missed on many levels. R.I.P.

Heavy Metal Musician In Bollocks Talking Shocker!

Seriously though, I reckon you could perhaps have got away with saying that in the couple of years following 9/11, with paranoia and mistrust rife and terror levels being jacked up left, right and center for no apparent reason but these days, riding out the end of an economic downturn, you would like to think the future is a little brighter.

The material is written by Churko and Ozzy. Gus is just the puppet in this one. New song sounds heavy...generic and the I agree the Chorus does hurt. Ozzy must have written the lyrics.

It will probably suck like the last release...and the one before that, and the one before that...

Sweden Rock - Running Order Online

Yeah, this "brainwave" of putting the last band on the wee stage on at midnight has left me with a dilemma. Stratovarius, who are one of the bands I wanted to see most but have seen 3 times before, or Guns N' Roses, who I will probably never get the chance to see again but who stand a good chance of being a disappointment or being an hour late onstage. Hmmmm.

Danzig/Jorn, Fates Warning/Skyclad, Cathedral/Dream Evil, Epica/Unisonic and WASP/Watain are all headaches I could have done without as well.

Sweden Rock - Running Order Online

It's well played, well performed and in some places quite listenable if you've never heard the songs before but they've ripped the soul out of the songs, they've turned classics into caricatures.

WOW! This is gonna be one release we are not to take seriously. Personally I think this revisit is kind of interesting. I checked out the preview on the Lp and it will not be vintage power metal. However I will pick this one up for shits and giggles. Honestly, it should be taken as good fun. Instead of what some bands my do and try to re-record old material or have remixes. They have simply taken an interesting approach as doing them as cover songs. I like the idea and it should pay homage to such great material given to us for the past 25 years.

Bon Jovi - New Album Due In November
Posted by Stuart - Tuesday, August 11, 2009
Still not 100% certain I want to spend £40-50 seeing Bon Jovi in a stadium. I've not bothered the past few times they have played Glasgow as I'm just not a big fan of stadium gigs.

But apparently I missed a cracking gig last time round as they played a varied set list and not just tracks from the new album plus the big hits so it is tempting.

Manowar EP News
Posted by gizmo - Thursday, June 11, 2009
Well as I am not interested in buying MP3 and not attending any concerts the EP will be impossible for me to get. Hehe once again Manowar shows themselves as donkeys, a lot of fans will be dissapointed by this if the songs from the EP are not on the album. That would really be screwing the fans and not good for a band that really rides high on how they treat their fans.

Good god I gave up on this band long time ago, but i would like to the hear the songs anyway cause i have a little hope that they could do something like Triumph of steel or older material, the later sucks

And why is there not a version of the song in Swedish? that would have been a more obvious language than Norwegian, Croatian, Hungarian or Finnish (should be one hell of a language to learn).

Manowar Videos - New song preview
Posted by wildpegasus - Wednesday, May 27, 2009
GREAT! We will be there!

We are happy to enjoy Jack Starr's band BURNING STARR again at this festival, too.

Jack Starr's guitar melodies are extremely stirring, touching, wild and passionate!

You can not find everywhere this electrifying contrast of hard riffs and very emotionally presented moving melodies with a guitar sound full of heart and soul.

I'm pretty excited to get Jack Starr's new Melodic Metal CD
which should come out very soon.

It must be already Jack Starr's 13th CD with changing bands (this talented guitar hero seems to like to be not limited to only one band and style to realize his tremendously great repertoire of ideas!).

The songs which I have heard at the last festival and at the pre-listening session are absolutely great!

I like the new singer's voice (Todd Michael Hall) very much! It is high, powerful and voluminous and he presented his singing in so many different ways and therefore underlines the expression of the extremely moving tunes.

If you have a weakness for screams full of whole elemental power, while high charisma is lying in every tone and every word which is pronounced - you will know what I mean.

The sensational riffs and the catchy chorus lines in Jack Starr's versatile Melodic Metal songs I can remember very well.

It's an uniquely stylistic balance between traditional and today's current sound.

If you furthermore like goose-flesh making ballad tones which rise up to a bursting true metal adventure, the gloomy threatening atmosphere with heavily dragging sounds, surprising, lively and dramatic guitar solo melodies, the wild rocking energy, an interesting spice of Indian, mythical and middle eastern elements and the battering power of the thrilling "live" song "Evil never sleeps" you really should lie in wait for this new CD like I do.

Especially to all European explorers of earth shaking metal events it is firmly recommended to visit the next

Jack Starr's BURNING STARR concert

on July 18th, 2009

at the next Magic Circle Festival in the tremendous "Loreley" amphitheatre
in St. Goarshausen - together with

MANOWAR, HOLY HELL, KINGDOM COME, DOMAIN and many other bands.

MELODIC GREETINGS FROM GERMANY! HOPE WE WILL SEE YOU THERE !!!

Manowar - The Asgard Saga
Posted by Steen - Saturday, April 25, 2009
This whole thing sounds very ambitious and fraught with pitfalls but I believe Manowar can pull it off. Hopefully they will skip the narration this time around and let the music be the sole conveyor of mighty Nordic thunder god mythology. Here's to the hope that this continues where Sign of the Hammer left off.

It was quite odd seeing the band rock out in a cinema hall but it was a great night. You can see footage from the bands performance on youtube :

Magic Circle Festival 2009 details
Posted by Stuart - Wednesday, March 4, 2009
Yeah the seat thing is a bit worrying. How can their be a festival with seats? Unless there is a raised platform somewhere???

And if I rember last year the Ultimate Fan Package was only about £60 more than the price of a standard ticket. Big hike this year.

Sadly thats the kind of thing you get at big "event" gigs these days. Bands like Bon Jovi charge silly money for "golden circle tickets" plus assorted gifts. Can be a bit of a con sometimes.

Magic Circle Festival 2009 details
Posted by Steen - Wednesday, March 4, 2009
Yeah, it seems they are cutting down instead of expanding which is disappointing. Hopefully more details will be released soon and hopefully in as entertaining a way as this press release. But what's up with the reserved SEAT!! for the ultimate fan pack? Erm...
The whole idea of the "ultimate fan package" seems questionable.

That album is today my most heard album in my entire collection. My dissapoinment were big with Nightfall, even bigger with a night a the opera, and for a twist i had no expectations but it was a nood in the right direction.

Mike Di Meo out of Masterplan
Posted by Craig - Thursday, January 15, 2009
I wouldn't stake my tattered reputation on it, but I've got a sneaky feeling. Grapow has been trying to work with Kiske again for years. I think they tried to get him as the Masterplan singer before they got Lande, and there was that talked-about Grapow/Kiske/Hansen project that looks like it hasn't come off. Also, with Kiske singing on half the Revolution Renaissance album maybe he's finally ready to drop his guard?

I'd thought about Roland or Jan taking over vocals as well, but the last line of the statement makes it look like there's a fifth memer coming aboard.

Stratovarius returns in 2009 - New album and live shows
Posted by gizmo - Wednesday, October 29, 2008
Unless they announce that Tollki would be back again in the band next year after recovering from megalomania hehe. Somehow nothing about this "joke" band surprises me anymore. They could announce they were all gay and I would not be surprised.

On a more serious note, mabye it will turn out good after all. I Mean the RR album from Tolkki were actually quite good and him removed from the band and some of the tentions gone they might could cunjure up something good. I mean the last Strato album really sucked big time and Element pt 1 and 2 were only had a few good tracks on them.

I hope the album will be good back to the days of Visions and Episode, then I am satisfied.

Stratovarius returns in 2009 - New album and live shows

One thing is for sure, it will be hard to come up with any more surprises from the Stratovarius camp... Weird to have a Stratovarius without Tolkki but I'll wait and see what they come up with.

Posted by Alanna - Friday, October 24, 2008
Good grief. I don't even know WHAT to say about this. I thought Strato was done with and now they have a new guitarist and are going to do another album?

Well bravo! It seems weird, since it was Tolkki's band as far as I knew.. but I know others have gone on without their creator so perhaps Strato can do the same. Koti and Jens made up a huge chunk of their sound IMO and Koti knows how to write Strato sounding songs so this could be a good thing.

Ohhhh what horror. They have released another piece of pure shiiite.

Well it was what to be expected

Funny! I got home from work and the promo was in my mailbox. First listen is about to commence.

Nope, haven't heard Man of the hour yet. I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of the promo.

This is going to be good, one of the best album this year i am sure of that

New Falconer video
Posted by Craig - Wednesday, August 13, 2008
Heard the other new song, Man of the Hour? It's good as well. I'm properly excited about this album now.

Ahh! This sounds very promising!

Bob Catley album news
Posted by Craig - Saturday, July 12, 2008
The samples sound very promising, I'm really looking forward to this now.

Just a shame Vince O'Reagan doesn't seem to be involved - his solos on When Empires Burn were fantastic.

Looking forward to this album almost everything this man touches is pure greatness.

Timo Tolkki: 'There will be one more Stratovarius album'
Posted by gizmo - Wednesday, June 25, 2008
Oh no stop this sick man he comes with so many statements that says one and then the next week they say another it´s so pathetic

Message from Rhapsody
Posted by Stuart - Tuesday, June 24, 2008
It also explains why Rhapsody are not playing Magic Circle Festival this year. I thought they would have been a shoe-in for playing.

Message from Rhapsody
Posted by Steen - Thursday, June 12, 2008
Yeah, my thoughts exactly. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the band comes out unscathed and more powerful than ever. I crave many more Rhapsody albums.

Message from Rhapsody
Posted by Craig - Thursday, June 12, 2008
Also might explain why Fabio's finally been given the time off to go back to Vision Divine. This could be a long process.

Message from Rhapsody
Posted by Steen - Thursday, June 12, 2008
They already have.... Legendary Tales! Heh, no... It might be titled "Joey - Agony and Ecstasy in eight parts", narrated by Tim The Enchanter.....

But seriously, what a shame. When I interviewed Luca back in 2007 he had several things planned and none of this has happened yet.

Message from Rhapsody
Posted by Craig - Thursday, June 12, 2008
Rhapsody vs Manowar? A song needs to be written about this titanic struggle! Nae, an album!

Message from Rhapsody

I had a feeling that something was wrong but this sounds really sad. Hopefully it will be sorted out soon.

Dragonforce - New album details
Posted by gizmo - Wednesday, June 4, 2008
Their firts record sucked
the second were average
the third not great but quite good

Guess this will be a copy of the third album i can´t imagine anything else. I am pretty indifferent about this release.

With an album title like that I can imagine where this is going...

Cannae wait!

Falconer finishing new album

Northwind while not being as good as the first two albums was certainly a return to form for Falconer. Hopefully the new album will be just as good.

Former Stratovarius Members: Timo Tolkki's Main Motivation Was Greed
Posted by gizmo - Thursday, May 8, 2008
Well i never had high reguards for Timo Tollki he seems like an idiot and after the circus in 2004-2005 can´t remember the right year i found it hard to believe the statement he put out earlier.

I must say i trust more the statement from Kotipelto, Jens and Jörg than the one from Tolkki

Former Stratovarius Members: Timo Tolkki's Main Motivation Was Greed
Posted by Craig - Thursday, May 8, 2008
What's more interesting is the suggestion that they might be carrying on as Stratovarius without Tolkki!

When I read Tolkki's first statement on the split up I thought it looked like a refreshingly honest explanation for a band falling apart and calling it a day.

This statement definitely casts a lot of doubt on that.

Interesting to hear a different view of this sad situation.

More bands confirmed for Magic Circle Festival 2008
Posted by Steen - Tuesday, April 29, 2008
Yeah it looks to be the event of the year. Don't worry, I will be there singing along to both bands so you don't fall asleep!

More bands confirmed for Magic Circle Festival 2008
Posted by Stuart - Friday, April 25, 2008
Looks like a pretty stong line up doesnt it?

Shame I need to stand through Whitesnake and Def Bloody Leppard on the 3rd day. But seeing Manowar will make it worth it!

New Nightwish video online

a matter of opinion I really dislike this song .

Stefan leaves Hammerfall
Posted by Revgoomba - Thursday, April 17, 2008
WOW! I didn't see that one coming!

New Nightwish video online
Posted by Craig - Wednesday, April 16, 2008
gizmo is pretty wrong.

New Nightwish video online
Posted by gizmo - Wednesday, April 16, 2008
The video is really incredible but why on earth do it to the crappiest song nightwish have ever written, I really hate this song not worthy of camparrison of all other NW songs. Probably because i think Marco can´t sing he sonds like a dog barking, his voice suits Tarot much better

Iced Earth - New interview and sound clips available
Posted by KingPest - Friday, April 11, 2008
Ultra generic riffing for sure, but Barlow sounds great. Hopefully Jon has decided to save him self for the full album instead of blowing his entire load on the EP like last time...

Stormwarrior replace Sir Lord Baltimore at Sweden Rock
Posted by gizmo - Saturday, April 5, 2008
Stromwarriors latest 2 albums have been extremely great so its a replacement that really rocks an average band goes out a great band comes in

Stormwarrior replace Sir Lord Baltimore at Sweden Rock
Posted by Stuart - Friday, April 4, 2008
Having downloaded some Sir Lord Baltimore stuff I was quite looking forward to them. But getting to see King Kai Hasen beaking out some early Helloween classics will be much better.

And if there is one thing that the Sweden Rock line up needed this year it was more Power Metal. So I'm rather chuffed about this.

Stormwarrior replace Sir Lord Baltimore at Sweden Rock

Excellent replacement! Stormwarrior with Kai Hansen were great at Wacken last year.

Latest news from Timo Tolkki
Posted by gizmo - Friday, February 22, 2008
Well i never had high reguards for Tolkki especially not after the circus with first firing Kotipelto and the rest of the circus, but it seems like he has the law on his side this time.

Though theres 2 sides to every story it is probably as he says, record compnies just skrew you over time after time.

I'm definitely going. Can't pass up the opportunity to see IE with Barlow, JOP, and Rob Rock.

New Avantasia video online
Posted by Craig - Monday, January 7, 2008
Yipes, just listened to Carry Me Over for the first time. Ick.

I hate the way Sammet is trying to pass of these shitty pop rock songs as classic rock power ballads. You're not fooling anyone!

Lost Horizon to record new material
Posted by Craig - Monday, January 7, 2008
I don't think they'll ever get a singer as good as Danny, but listening to the newer Heed songs (and his shameful display at Sweden Rock '07) I'm sort of glad he's gone if the only way to keep him was let him in on the writing.

Lost Horizon to record new material
Posted by Steen - Monday, January 7, 2008
Yes, very exciting news. I have high hopes that they can find a vocalist in the same league as Daniel (or that he reconsiders and returns to the fold) and they create another masterpiece. A Flame To The Ground Beneath is among my all time favorite albums. Listening to it right now in fact...

I loved their last album. Hope the next one is killer too!

New Avantasia video online

Good to hear there's some quality stuff on them. I ordered the two EP's yesterday, so it will be interesting to hear all the songs.

New Avantasia video online
Posted by gizmo - Friday, December 28, 2007
My words exactly Steen. Those two songs really ain´t worth much, but the other songs except the cover song from Lost in space part I and II EP´s are OK. But my expectations have been lowered a lot after these two videos

New Avantasia video online
Posted by Craig - Sunday, December 23, 2007
It's true, Lost in Space is bloody dreadful and not deserving of the Avantasia name.

But there are three tracks on the two EPs that are just brilliant - two very much in the vein of Hellfire Club (not exactly what you're looking for in Avantasia, but better than nothing) and an amazing ballad featuring Mr Bob Catley.

I still have hopes the new Avantasia will have more good than bad songs.

New Avantasia video online
Posted by Steen - Saturday, December 22, 2007
This song along with Lost in space has lowered my expectations for the fortcoming album quite alot. These two songs are generic and disappointing when thinking about the Avantasia legacy.

Matt Barlow is back with Iced Earth!
Posted by KingPest - Wednesday, December 12, 2007
I liked Owens in IE but I'm also glad that Barlow is back. To a lot of people Barlow IS Iced Earth (or at least 50% :D) I'm interested to hear Barlow sing on the new Pyramaze too.

Matt Barlow is back with Iced Earth!
Posted by Steen - Wednesday, December 12, 2007
Very interesting news! Too bad for The Ripper, he did an awesome job. A concept album in two parts with two different singers will be somewhat weird but I am more than happy to have Matthew Barlow back in Iced Earth.

Cage - King Diamond tribute song online
Posted by KingPest - Monday, October 29, 2007
My god, Cage is at the top of their game right now.

Sean Peck is definitely one of the best vocalists in metal right now, and is without a doubt the best in the Halford style.

If you listen to the new Cage album and the listen to the new Iced Earth you realize why a guy like Owens will never take a band to its full potential. Compared to Peck almost all Halford sound-alikes are one trick singers that never developed their own style.
