Brainstorm - Ambiguity
Let's keep it short and precise. Germany's Brainstorm has released a bombastic, inspirational, trashy, groovy, sonic and by all means powerful album that has a special deep and heavy base. The compact and ultra heavy production is of the most hard hitting ones I have heard and makes these songs come across with even more strength.

Crush Depth is a really potent opener in the classic Brainstorm style. Powerful drums played with a tendency for technical variation is found as a central pillar in a very bombastic structure, catchy guitar solo spots and deep hard riffs are working as two additional cornerstones.
Lot's of textures, rhythm changes and cool passages are elements that make Brainstorm's music more unique than many other Power Metal bands, Ambiguity being their most challenging and my favourite album to date from these guys.

Andy B. Franck's characteristic deep voice is working out very well in both the aggressive and softer sides of the album as in one of my favourite tracks the compelling epic Beyond My Destiny, his strong vocals lift this one an extra inch.
Flavoured with a soft piano, huge keys and a magical elevating symphonic midsection this composition is just breathtaking.

With its groovy bass foundation, harmonious guitar solo and melodic nature Demonsion is another spectacular song.

Perception Of Life must also have a mention in this review being one of the coolest and heaviest songs I have come across. The catchy guitar lead and the accompanied insane drumming sounds phenomenal and the effusive split solos are no less than genius, I simply get a huge energetic kick out of this song.

To come up with something critical is in fact pretty difficult which of course serves as a stamp of a high quality release.
Maharaja Palace has a cool mystic atmosphere but the verse structure becomes a bit monotone, I guess you could also point out that more extensive use of such brilliant orchestrations as found in Beyond My Destiny would have strengthened the album even more, but we are talking details here.

There are so many great songs on this extensive record and I have only named some of them, the actual performance is top notch too, fantastic drumming and elaborate guitar skills.

The lyrically side of the album is very interesting, poetic at times and highly complex, touching on personal themes of love, religion and finding the strength to peruse difficult oppositions in life.

One of the most powerful Power Metal albums ever created.

Also check out "Metus Mortis"[2001] and "Soul temptation"[2003] that in my opinion are superior to this one. They're the bands latest efforts.Especially Soul temptation kicks some serious ass
