Jorn Lande has returned to
Masterplan and they are back with a new album in May. This is the first single, to be released on April 16'th and it's.....very promising!
Jorn Lande makes all the difference.
Masterplan with Mike DiMeo was good.
Masterplan with
Jorn Lande is like coming home. It just feels right.
The single has three songs,
Far From The End Of The World in edit and normal versions and
Lonely Winds of War, which will also be on the forthcoming album "Time To Be King". All three songs are mixed and mastered by Roland Grapow and are non-album versions. The final album will be mixed and mastered by Mikko Karmilla.
Far From The End Of The World is a fast paced song, compact and melodic. In short, it sounds like
Masterplan. The sound is thick and explosive with the keyboard and a few effects helping to create an impenetrable layer.
Jorn Lande delivers a strong performance. I love his powerful singing in the second verse and the final part of the song. Guitar, drum and bass work is rock solid. Great song.
Lonely Winds of War opens with a highland feel, flute included. The song drops a few paces in speed, maintains heaviness and has a sweeping melody that is very effective. The chorus section is particularly excellent with
Jorn bellowing it in an agonized way. Good song.
The novelty of new
Masterplan music with
Jorn Lande in front along with the fact that the songs are non-album versions makes this essential purchase for hardcore
Masterplan fans. Though I have a feeling that the difference between these songs and those that end up on the album will not be overwhelming it is still nice to have something unique on a single release.
A highly promising taste of the new
Masterplan album.
