Friday, May 8, 2009 - Masterplan - Singer situation and album news
A Masterplan update from Roland Grapow:

About the singer situation?

Sorry for the silence on this page, but we really don't try to create any hype out of it. We would love to tell you the new line-up already some month ago, but we promised not to say anything so far.

It has reasons, which doesn't have anything to do with Masterplan or the current line up.  It is more a contract or a business kind of thing !  So don't blame me or the Band for it!

The new line-up had already a meeting 9 weeks ago and finally again last week for checking and working on the new song material. We had also many nice talks and ideas for the future.
Recording start is finally this weekend in my studio in SK! Album mix is planned for the beginning of August. We're expecting the album release in late Autumn, or let's say...when it's finished   :O)

Concerning the Forum, we know it has problems we had some issues concerning the servers. A new one will be available.

Hope this helps for the moment and we'll promise to get the main news out A.S.A.P.

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 - Jorn Lande - Full Spirit Black Album Details Revealed; Audio Samples Available;Rejoins Masterplan?
A rumor is going around that Jorn Lande has re-joined Masterplan. Await official news before celebrating...

Press release from Frontiers Records on the forthcoming Jorn Lande solo album:

"Frontiers Records is excited to announce the release of JORN's brand new studio album, entitled Spirit Black, on June 5th in Europe and July 14th in the USA.

Considered by many fans and critics as one of the finest voices in Hard Rock to arrive on the scene at the end of the 20th century, Jorn is now ready to unleash upon the world yet another studio album entitled Spirit Black.

"I have carried some of these ideas with me for quite some time" tells Lande, "Willy, Jimmy, Sid and myself have known each other since the 80's, and some of the song ideas and demos from back then have now seen the light of day, and become an essential part of Spirit Black. When we were younger we usually never cared about what we did yesterday, only about the future, but the past can sometimes reveal hidden treasures and I discovered great potential in some of these song-ideas".

The result: Spirit Black is another slab of classic Hard Rock with 80's Metal elements which will definitely please all those who loved his recent Lonely Are The Brave, released in June 2008.

A winning formula should not change, so Jorn has worked again with Tommy Hansen at Jailhouse Studios in Denmark ensuring the right edge to the rich guitar and vocal sound that is now trademark to all Jorn releases.

"The fans can expect a solid and defined record that will shake the classic metal world and hammer the future Jorn legacy in stone" says Jorn. "The sound of the album is like a crossover between The Duke and Lonely Are The Brave, and I feel that some of the songs on Spirit Black have the potential to become essential Hard Rock classics that will stand the test of time".

Jorn Lande's strong and diverse voice and solid songwriting skills have now become legendary in the Hard Rock world. In a career spanning over 30 albums releases and as frontman for MILLENNIUM, ARK and MASTERPLAN, Jorn was recently featured on spectacular projects such as Tobias Sammet's AVANTASIA, along with stars like ALICE COOPER and Eric Singer (KISS), Rudolph Schenker (SCORPIONS), Bob Catley (MAGNUM) and in Arjen Lucassen's recent concept project, AYREON.

"The musical style and direction is now more defined and less experimental. I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel anymore, I just want to write good quality Hard Rock songs that people can relate to and identify with", continues the Norwegian Viking, "As we entered into the new millennium, I realized and accepted that my strength as a singer was more classic rock oriented. If you buy a Jorn album today, you know what you will get. True classic Hard Rock music".

Jorn is getting ready to tour the world at the end of summer 09 with his band formed by Jgor Gianola and Tore Moren on guitars, Nic Angileri on bass and Willy Bendiksen on drums.

Spirit Black final tracklisting includes: 'Spirit Black', 'Below', 'Road Of The Cross', 'The Last Revolution', 'City Inbetweeen', 'Rock And Roll Angel', 'Burn Your Flame', 'World Gone Mad', 'I Walk Alone', 'The Sun Goes Down' (bonus track exclusively included in the first limited edition pressing in digipak).

And, as a perfect complement to the new release, Frontiers will finally give a domestic release in the USA to the Jorn DVD Live In America, on July 14th, so far only available via import!"

Wednesday, January 31, 2007 - New project confirmed
The following has been posted at former Michael Kiske's website:

Project with Kai and Grapow confirmed...

The project now is not a rumour.

So in the (near) future will be a project with Kai Hansen (ex-Helloween, GAMMA RAY), Roland Grapow (ex-Helloween, MASTERPLAN) and Michael Kiske as singer.

Roland Grapow has said in a recent interview for a Spanish web laEstadea.com. An excerpt from this interview is below:

Q: About Hansen and Kiske, there's a rumor of a project. Is that right?

Grapow: "It's not a rumor, it's true. We're just waiting for the right moment. We gathered together two or three times in the last two years. What happens is that Michael doesn't want to do anything with too much hard rock or too much heavy metal, too much dark or negative, he wants to do something more happier. So, probably, when I finish the tour with Masterplan, I'll begin to write some tracks for Mike. Kai too, we'll see what will come out. But, once and for all, we will do something."

Q: This project have a name?

Grapow: "No, not yet! Perhaps it will be titled Helloween! (laughs). No, it's a joke, at the moment we haven't thought of any names because we haven't planned yet. Now we only want to write a few songs which we feel comfortable with, that Michael doesn't find negative, but we all love. Because we don't want to make a Kiske solo album with two famous guitarists from the past. We search for music which speaks for itself without any need to be aggressive or negative".

Wednesday, May 10, 2006 - Jorn Lande leaves Masterplan
Masterplan have parted ways with vocalist Jorn Lande due to "musical differences." During the songwriting process for the band's third album, it became increasingly apparent that the members of the group had different visions and plans for the band's musical direction. While Jorn wanted Masterplan to follow a more melodic path, the rest of the band wanted to return to the metallic roots of their debut album.

Commented drummer Uli Kusch: "We are not really happy about Jorn's decision to leave the band, but on the other side it doesn't make sense to continue if the ideas are that different. The music would suffer from it and the music is why we are doing it. We wish Jorn a successful future and want to thank him for everything he did for us. It was a great and interesting time!"

The band are currently searching for a new singer. "There are already some possibilities that might be interesting for us, but nothing is decided yet," Uli explained. "We hope that we can already present the new singer on the gigs we are confirmed to play later in the year. And for sure there won't be any changes in the musical style of Masterplan. We are currently working on the songs."
