Lita Ford - Wicked Wonderland
Let's get straight to the point: "Wicked Wonderland" is disappointment of the year.

This not the Lita we love from the early albums like "Lita" and "Dangerous Curves". Lita Ford has been absent from the music business for more than 10 years and high profile gigs at Rocklahoma and Sweden Rock festival proved that her voice was still intact. Yours truly witnessed the Sweden Rock gig and I wondered how come she didn't air any of the new songs instead of playing Sammy Hagar tunes etc. After hearing "Wicked Wonderland" that question had been answered.

Lita Ford's husband Jim Gillette sings quite a bit on the record and has co-written all songs. I am not fond of Gillette's "Halford" Heavy metal chords, but kudos to Gillette since the best track Inside is a duet and could have been a pretty cool track if it wasn't for the production.

"Wicked Wonderland" is marked by a cold and industrial sound, which doesn't suit Lita's characteristic voice at all. Lita still has that rasp in her voice but unfortunately the material doesn't justify this. Lita sounds best when she plays straightforward Hard Rock and the heavy guitars and cold Nine Inch Nails drum sound doesn't suit a hot blooded Lita Ford looking sexier than ever.

Up-side:
Lita is back
The voice has aged well
The packaging for "Wicked Wonderland" is terrific. It is a digi-pack with extensive booklet with lots of pictures, lyrics and illustrations.

Downside:
Basically everything with a special mention to the production
Running time of mere 65 minutes

All in a poor album from Lita Ford, so beware and approach with caution. The album has several sound effects and programmed drums. The worst part is that the melodies and choruses are non-existent on "Wicked Wonderland"

You are right! This album is absolute garbage!! I can understand wanting to "move forward" but this trash sounds like stuff that comeback bands were putting out in the mid 90s to cold receptions.

I think it's ok for a vocal artist to get involved with different styles of music and other time it can bury the integrity of the artist.

When Lee Aaron went on to lean towards the jazz genre (Canada's metal queen) I though it worked out well.

This is not one of those cases. This kind of reminds me when Halford released Voyeurs. Wrong style of music, not to mention it was not even done well in the first place. At least there was stronger structure to music on Halford's experimentation which is not say much. But then again the lyrics were so bad...pretty much left me with the same

If you buy it and then change your mind you will be hard pressed to even give it away.
