In 2003
Crash Kelly released their debut album "Penny Pills" through UK based label TB Records. They scored the support slot on Quireboys' UK tour - which is documented on the song
Nottingham Rock City Blues - and later in 2003
Crash Kelly returned to the UK opening for Enuff Z'nuff.
RevelationZ Magazine covered 5 dates on that
tour so seeing
Crash Kelly's career progressing and them recording with
Gilby Clarke only warms our rock hearts.
Only Allister Thompson remains from the 2003 line up. Thompson switched from guitar to playing bass.
Crash Kelly 2008 is Gene Scarpelli on guitar, Tim Timlech on drums and Sean Kelly on vocals/guitar.
The debut album "Penny Pills" was a kick ass Rock 'N' Roll rooted in the seventies, while the follow up "Electric Satisfaction" was a Glam Retro record. "One More
Heart Attack" follows in the Glam Rock vein. "One More
Heart Attack" is
Crash Kelly's last step towards being a full blown retro Glitter rock band.
Most of the record is enjoyable, but its very safe and polished. The songs lack bite, madness and edge despite being catchy.
Crash Kelly gets help from some big names on the L.A. recording, but even big names, plus the fact that Sean Kelly is an extremely gifted song writer, cannot save this record from being a bit toothless.
Crash Kelly's individual style and character recede into the background and the band sounds like an impersonal Glitter rock machine.
