Mors Principium Est - Inhumanity
Yes, it's Melo-Death, Yes it is freaking awesome, No, they don't sound like Children Of Bodom!

Who and where do the critics get the idea that this band is a C.O.B. rip off? I just don't hear it! If they sound like anyone already out there then it's Omnium Gatherum, whose review you'll find on our hallowed pages as well. Even that comparison is not really just. The similarities really rest in the beautiful way both of these bands compose melody amidst brutality. That being said, the mere fact that Omnium Gatherum and Mors Principium Est are comprised from totally different members of the human race makes them different than each other. This is a good thing too. That way I get to hear more than one band who plays melo-death this well, this year!

No offense meant to any Children Of Bodom fans out there, but Mors Principium Est have melody and ferocity down to a science. The coolest thing is that Mors have achieved this with their debut where it has taken C.O.B. a few albums to get this close. I mean I haven't heard HateCrewDeathRoll yet, so there is a chance that they can meet or beat Mors. We'll see.......but not bloody likely!

Now to the music: Absolutely one of the best albums I have heard all year! A top Ten List maker for sure. There are some samples on the Mors Principium Est homepage to hear and they made a smart move by putting "Life In Black" on there. It is the best song on the album, although they are all fantastic! Life In Black has such a powerful rhythm to it, it just embeds itself into your brain and throttles the senses! The musicianship is top notch from guitar work to bass to drums to keys to vocals. It's all there, not a dud in the bunch!

I would say the most striking difference in what they do lies in the fact that there are some blistering lead guitar sections in the songs. You have some neo-classical type runs over the rhythm sections that are cleverly placed and add even more power to the already gargantuan song structures.

Maybe it has something to do with putting an "IUM" somewhere in the band name. I mean you have Omnium Gatherum.....Bad Ass!......Mors Principium Est.....Bad Ass!......Elenium!.....Bad Ass......Insomnium!.....yes, Bad Ass.........there are probably more that I don't about yet, but damn, something is going on with all these "IUM's " happening and the bands being so good! Formula? .....possibly. Maybe if I changed my name to Davidium I could become the baddest metal critic know to man :)

The album is excellent, the production is excellent. The album is not too long and leaves you wanting Mors...hee hee! It's a real gem and I know any fan of Melodic Death metal would be missing out if they didn't have this truly magnificent piece of work in their collection.

Go look and listen to their website.....it's really well done and you can find out these guys names and what they do and where you can go catch them live. There is also a link to their label which has some of the coolest bands around on there!
So a big "Cheers" to MPE for an unparalleled piece of metallic artwork!

This is real good. Good be compared to a Damage Done part II
by dark Tranquility and while waiting for the next mello-death without
industrial touches.. this is the thing to pickup.
Great!
