Sunday, February 8, 2009 - Freedom Call - New bass player and album update
News update from Freedom Call:

Hi Callers,

Good news!!!! The recordings of the new Freedom Call album are on their last legs.
After spending a couple of month in the studio, recording the new Freedom Call album, we are proud of the work we did and we can hardly wait to present it to you.

There will be a couple of very fast and melodic speed hymns in the typical Freedom Call style as well as some groovy, heavy midtempo songs which demand your headbanging.
The melancholic side of Freedom Call will be featured again in some of the songs as we already did on the Dimensions album e.g. "Blackened Sun" .

But above the 12 brandnew tracks we have another piece of news for you:

Many of you guys who attended the last tours and shows have probably noticed the new face on stage in the Freedom Call line up.
Due to family affairs Armin Donderer was not available for most of the shows Freedom Call did during the last two years.
Finally Armin quit his job as the bass player of Freedom Call
At this point we want to thank Armin very much for the good times we had together. We wish him success and all the best for the future!

And now the good news.....?

The new face in the Freedom Call line up is our new bass player. His name is Samy Saemann from Karlburg. He was temporarily playing the bass for Freedom Call instead of Armin during the last year.
From the beginning on Samy did good performances and we understood each other very well. After we found that Samy and Freedom Call fit together in a musical and personal way we made him an offer and he didn't hesitate to join in.

Please welcome our new band member Samy Saemann.

More details about the new bass player will be released on this webpage soon.

Recently some rumors spread around that Daniel Zimmermann has left Freedom Call. The reason for his one-year absence on stage was the world tour with Gamma Ray in 2008. He was very busy doing many live shows all over the planet with Gamma Ray. There were many overlappings of touring activities of both Gamma Ray and Freedom Call.
For this reason Freedom Call decided to engage Klaus Sperling, the actual "Sinner" drummer as a substitution for one year. At this point we want to thank Klaus for his great performances at the drumkit and the mega fun we had on tour.

Now we hope, we could clear up a few things and we are now looking forward to present the new Freedom Call album to you. We hope that we can play lots of exciting shows during the following tour.

We hope you all join in again, when the Metalparty goes on...

Friday, March 2, 2007 - Freedom Call album news
Official Press Release from SPV Records:

If you ask Freedom Call fans about the outstanding characteristics of their favourite band, they tend to list two main qualities: melodic and up-tempo. Both attributes will come to bear again on April 23, 2007 (Germany: April 20), when vocalist/guitarist Chris Bay, drummer Daniel Zimmermann and the two new additions, Lars Rettkowitz (guitar) and Armin Donderer (bass), release their current album, Dimensions, proving emphatically that Freedom Call are still among the most passionate and dynamic German metal acts.

Stylistically, Dimensions is a successful liaison of the group's basic strengths and new, contemporary influences. Or, as Daniel Zimmermann puts it: "Even if the two predecessors, Eternity und The Circle Of Life, took very different directions, both albums had a number of strong moments. Dimensions combines the most successful elements from both albums, in other words: we included our penchant for fast and very melodic numbers from Eternity with the more contemporary, bombastic components of The Circle Of Life." The album reveals that Freedom Call have found two talented songwriters in Lars Rettkowitz and Armin Donderer: four of the eleven tracks on Dimensions were penned by them, the other seven were written and composed, as usual, by Chris Bay and Daniel Zimmermann.

The eleven new numbers (plus intro) were recorded at the FC studios in Nuremberg, while the drum parts were cut at the Area 51 in Celle by Daniel Zimmermann with the support of Tommy Newton (Helloween, Kamelot, Victory), who also mixed and mastered Dimensions. The cover artwork was designed by Paul Raymond Gregory (Saxon, Molly Hatchet, Blind Guardian) and suits the thread of the lyrics to a T. The album raises the question where the climatic disaster will lead, what the fate of the human race will be, and whether our future may be not on earth but far away on another planet of the universe. Could a subject be more topical?

Freedom Call are scheduled to play four shows with Dragonforce around the album's release date, followed by various summer festivals and an extensive European tour in Autumn.

Tracklisting "Dimensions":

1. Demons Dance
2. Innocent World
3. United Alliance
4. Mr. Evil
5. Queen Of My World
6. Light Up The Sky
7. Words Of Endeavour
8. Blackened Sun
9. Dimensions
10. My Dying Paradise
11. Magic Moments
12. Far Away

Tuesday, September 12, 2006 - New Freedom Call album on the way
News from Freedom Call:

Hi everybody out there!

I have some good news for all Freedom Call fans and those who join in in the future!

Right after the successful European tour with Rage in March and April the band went into the sudio again to write new songs for a new Freedom Call album. The songwriting is almost finished. In October we start with the drumrecordings taking place in Hannover. The recordings of the whole album should be finished by the end of December. Tommy Newton is doing the final mix in January. The release will probably be in April/May 2007.
The working title of the album is called "Dimensions"! Please let us know your opinion about this title!

There will be 11 songs on "Dimensions", style-wise closer to the "Eternity" album, that means less experiments and many fast and melodic speed hymns!

Here are some working titles: Mr. Evil, Far Away, Mission Divine, Firestorm, Dimensions, Blackened Sun, Power, Starborn, Ride the universe, Heaven is Hell, Castaway

Monday, July 25, 2005 - Cede leaves Freedom Call
Freedom Call guitarist Cede has left the band. Here is the official statement:

Hi everybody out there,

Bad news for us all !! Cede will leave Freedom Call. He will do the up coming shows in Trier, Pitea and Chiaramonte.
We, the rest of Freedom Call respect his decision and we wish him all the best for the future.
The band will take their time to find a suitable guitar player.

Daniel

Cede's Statement:

"After hundreds of beers, thousands of driven miles for rehearsals and gigs, endless moments of pure fun and great friendship within the band, plus months, days and never ending hours of thinking about my future, I took the decision to leave the Freedom Call camp.

Believe it: for me it was quite a tough thing to come up to Chris, Daniel, Ilker and Nils to tell them that I don't feel like continuing shredding the guitar in Freedom Call anymore. On one hand it was a hard decision cause this line-up was pure Rock n' Roll in my opinion, but on the other hand it was an easy decision cause I know that I couldn't go on like this for me and my future.

So, why do I leave the band? As a lot of you know, I'm living in Switzerland and it takes me an unbelievable amount of time to play in Freedom Call, it just got too much for me, as I think I wanna give at least 100% and not only 90% to play in this band. Of course I still believe that without sweat, tears and engagement you won't get to any point in this business but I just figured out that I don't want to be that much involved in music business anymore. I just wanna concentrate on one professional band and that's by far enough if you're working eight-to-five besides the music-thing. Living in another country, playing in two bands, that is just too much to take for me.

Most important thing was to me, that Freedom Call respects and understands my decision. And I'm glad that they totally do. We still have a great partnership and friendship, we still got a lot of fun together. And that's what I really appreciate! ! !

So, that's all I can say about it at the moment. I want you, the fans, to fucking party on with Freedom Call, and I wish all the best to the guys in finding a new guitar player that will have as much fun in the band as I had with them.

You guys rock, and thank you so much for everything! You made my last 4 years a pure adventure ride :-)

Cheers and see you around!"

Saturday, September 4, 2004 - Freedom Call enter the studio to record Circle of Life
The long wait has finally come to an end. Freedom Call have entered the studio about two weeks ago to record their new album with the work title Circle Of Life. Drum recordings took place in Kai Hansen's Hansen Studio in Hamburg (Germany), all other recordings will be made in Nuremberg. There will be 11 new songs on the album. In general you could say that Freedom Call have stayed true to their style, even if you should be ready for some surprises. All the things Freedom Call ever represented will be in there, like fast melodic speed-anthems, progressive arrangements, ballad parts, but also modern elements. The album will be mixed by Sascha Paeth, who you surely know of his work with Rhapsody and Heaven's Gate. If everything works out fine, release is planned for January/February 2005. There is also a tour planned following the release.
