Reptilian - Thunderblaze
This is the second album from this direct Heavy Metal styled band, and I am not impressed.
Of the 10 songs I only find a couple about good. This is mainly due to the lack of great melodies and a much too simple rhythm section.

Well, let's start with the positive stuff. Knights Of Hades is a fast and pretty powerful song. The chorus is catchy and melodic, and the guitar solo is well played apart form the fact that it ends suddenly. Chains Of Love has a cool background atmosphere and fitting slow passages. The solo is pretty melodic. The track flows along in a nice way and overall this is a good song.

Thunderblaze has a very standard rhythm and I must say that I am getting more and more tired of the vocals on this song (and album), it is way too overdone and without enough power. The main chorus is ok, but the strange middle-section chorus thing is completely silly and not working at all.

Watching Hell From Above offers a very plain guitar riff and overall does not seems to work very well. The chorus is terrible and stretched out of all fairness, I don't like to say this but I simply can't stand this overdone way of singing. The guitar lead sounds misplaced, and all in all the main rhythm is overplayed and simple.

I will not comment on any more songs, just say that even though there are elements of good composition, this album is much too uninteresting and seems very plain.

It is not that the musicians can't play; the drums are pretty solid and the riffs tight at times. The bass seems to fade away a little in the background, but where it is heard, it sounds fitting. The singing is not bad all the time; but it is when he tries to sing in a high tone.

Lyrically the album is about very different themes, from love to darker themes like death and horror. Not that inspiring. The production could have been more powerful, but overall it is pretty clear and you can easily hear what is going on.

Apart form a couple of well written songs and moments; this album has too much uninspiring music to offer. This album seems not to open up very much after giving it some listening. The rhythm section is simply too boring and simple. If you are into music without many changing elements, maybe you will like it more than me. I just think that this album lacks melody and interesting arrangements.

A message for TOMMY, the guy who wrote this review...

Sorry guy...
You have TOO MUCH TO LEARN about metal yet... I think you are the ONLY ONE WHO DIN NOT LIKE THE ALBUM and you are THE ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD TO RATE THIS GREAT ALBUM in 4/10!!!

You are fucking wrong... Sorry...

How could you say those things about JONAS BLUM? He is so far, the best singer ever!!! Maybe, he isn'r better than Bruce Dickinson and Rob Halford...

If you are used to listening always to the sames things, maybe you are one of those who will never open your mind to new things...

Sorry... You don't understand anything about metal... At least, not enough to avaliate a such great band like REPTILIAN!!! (I am kidding, guy)!!!!!!!!!
Their debut is not good, but THUNDERBLAZE is album NUMBER ONE of 2002!!! ;-)

Rate for the album...
9,5/10
Well, nothing is perfect...

I am opened to debate about that...

Well Marcelo I guess we strongly disagree about this one. It just never really caught my attention, and this is not because I didn't listened to it enough, I really did give it a fair chance.
You like it and that's fine, I just have my opinion too.
And just for the record I wouldn't say that I don't know much about Metal and that I only listen to the same things.
I don't really know why you think that, juts because we don't have the same opinion I have a lot to learn? That doesn't make sense, Heavy Metal is my passion and I'm discovering new great bands all the time.
If you check out my CD collection with about 600 CD's, located under the staff pages, you hopefully will end up with another opinion.

Hello dude...
I'm sorry about the things I told you!!! You have shut my mouth when you said you have a collection of more than 600... It represents more than 6 times the collection I have... Nowadays, I have about 100 cds...
Well, even so, after listening to a couple of time 'Thunderblaze', we realize it's not a good album at all...
I do hoped something very better for thunderblaze, because I expected it would be one of the best albums of the year... However, I was wrong, and I really have to say SORRY to you!!!
On the other hand, I will not change my position about Jonas Blum... I still think he is the best singer of the world, after Bruce Dickinson!!!
And Jonas Blum has always great perfomances!!!

Now, I have to make you a question:
Jonas Blum's first band was called POLE POSITION... He made two albums with this band... Do you have one of these cds? Would you send me one or two songs from them by e-mail, or icq???
Well, my e-mail is: marcelorissi@yahoo.com.br (don't use the e-mail I wrotre previously anymore)
and my icq number is: 194568096
my current nick is 'rotten satan spawn', but I change it very often, so, maybe, when you read this, I have already changed my nick again!!!

And sorry to have taken so long time to answer and get in touch again... I had lost your website domain :)

A big hug from Brazil,
Marcelo!!!

Well Marcelo I don't have any of the two CD's you mention, and I don't know the band either, so good luck with the search.
I'm glad that you came past the anger you felt by reading my review :)

Tommy, I'm from Brazil too!

Jonas Blum is really a excellent vocalist. You may hear a great performance of this guy in a CD called Majestic - Abstract Symphony.
After, he left vocalist position to Apollo Papathanasio.
Nowadays Majestic is now Time Requiem

Hugs from Brazil!!!

Metal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
