Uriah Heep was big in the 70's. Their popularity declined in the 80's and 90's but the band kept on touring and still managed to draw big audiences in Scandinavia. I remember my first
Uriah Heep concert in 1990 as something exceptional and this CD proves
Uriah Heep still is a fantastic live band.
This is an official bootleg capturing
Uriah Heep playing Sweden Rock festival 2009. The band headlined the opening day of the festival in support of the critical acclaimed album "Wake the Sleeper". At the actual show
Uriah Heep played almost the entire new album, but only 2 songs off that album made it to the recording. The new songs are strong and blend in fine with the classics.
Sadly this is not a full show but 9 great songs that displays a band still going strong and sounding good. Singer Bernie Shaw sounds good on the disc and
Stealin',
Easy Living plus
Lady in Black has well-deserved become rock classics.
The CD only last 42 minutes - Quality instead of quantity! Listening to this CD makes me wanna kick myself, since I was at the show but couldn't stay awake for
Uriah Heep because of a long drive the same day. Damn! The evening was bloody cold but those who stayed up for
Uriah Heep certainly must have been warmed by the pompous sound and top notch musicianship. The melodies are well structured and the harmonies not rusty at all. The old geezers still create some magic on stage!
This official bootleg is the first on a series of live albums that
Uriah Heep releases in 2010 to celebrate
Uriah Heep's 40 years anniversary. The CDs are limited editions as homage to fans and sold at budget price.
