Band Profile

Tell us about the history of Innocent Rosie. More specifically, when was the band formed, how did you meet, and have there been any particular highlights or low points in your career, any crucial events that have taken you where you are today?

Innocent rosie started out in 2005 in small town called falkenberg in Sweden. The band was formed by our first guitarist Skid La Russo and drummer Ben. Olof worked in the same warehouse as Ben did so they hooked up and Olof joined on Bass. Me and Olof were good friends from before so he asked me if I wanted to come and sing. We started to write songs and record demos.

After a year we got the chance to go to Los Angeles and play at the famous Whisky a gogo. So we did and when we got back home we signed a deal with Swedmetal records. We wanted to have a rhythm guitarist but we weren't really lookin for it. Luckily one day I got a mail from Joel saying -hey are u guys lookin for one more guitarist? Or something like that. So he came to a rehearsal and he fit like a sticky hand in a glove. We started to work on our album, and found a studio to record in out on the countryside. In the middle of this process we weren't really going in the same direction all of us all of the time. We had different thoughts about the sound on the album so we decided to go seperate ways with Gituarist Skid La Russo. Joel knew a guy who worked in a music shop who he said was an awesome guitarist so we wanted him to come play with us. He did and once again he fitted in like a sticky hand in a glove. We went on a one week tour in Italy ,got some really good reviews on both the album and the live shows so when we got back home we booked a new tour right away.

We went back for a two week tour and we had a fucking blast. Since then we have played three festivals. The last one we played was at sweden rock festival, and was an awesome experience for all of us since we've all been at the festival for many years. Our album also managed to reach no:1 on the swedish hardrock chart. And now were at today, were writing a lot of songs at the moment so we gonna record demos for our next album ,rehearse and play as much live as possible. We are also working on a tour all over Europe after the summer. Thats the story about Innocent rosie. So far...

Was there ever a time when you wondered if your band would remain just a local outfit and never make it in the industry?

No not really, the thing that have worked out for us is that no matter what shit happens we just kept on playing for the love of it. Its just like when you jam, just keep on playing the chords may not find eachother in the beginning but when they do,it gets really groovy. So no never really thought about it that way.

What is your latest album and why should people buy it?

Out latest and our first album "Bad habit Romance" is out and people should buy it because its a great fucking rock n' roll album guaranteed to make your hips shake ,more than they ever done before!

How would you categorize the style of the band? And did you ever consider or try playing other styles of music than the one(s) you are playing now?

Its rock n' roll. Lately we have been jamming on some song ideas and I can tell it sounds like everything from spanish to punk to blues to this n that. We take all our ideas and play and try to mix them, in the end we get the sound of Innocent Rosie. No need to find a category for that. It's rock n' roll.

How was it playing Sweden Rock festival 2009?

It was awesome, like I said before we have all been at the festival partying as hell for many years so it was a bit of a dream coming true there. The weather was shit, it was raining once every hour. But we got kinda lucky with that and had the sun on our side.. It was packed in front of the stage and the gig was great. Pure adrenalin boost!

How is the writing process in the band?

We all come up with riffs and stuff so when we get to the rehearsal we try to jam it together.
Some songs get done in five minutes and others can be put side for a while. I write the lyrics on my own and try to find what music that would fit good for them.

What brought you on the path to becoming a musician? Did you ever consider or take any other paths through life besides music?

Skateboarding brought me on the path I. Its like music in a lot of ways, its about feeling it. And im going for feeling good so this is the path im going.

Do you have any idols? If yes, who?

There's a lot of them but I will say the band that got me into rock n' roll at first and that's Black Sabbath.

Do you have any regrets looking back at your career? For example any songs or even full albums that you regret recording?  If so, what made you regret it?

No I dont regret anything at all, all we did in our past took us to were we are today so there's no need to regret anything.

Are there particular songs in your catalogue that the fans love but you're not particular fond of yourself?

I dont know, there are some songs that we havent played live as much as others. I have heard some requests about Wasteland and Shine so we might do them some more. But I like all the songs on the album, but my favourites are animal and bad habit romance.

How important do you rate the lyrical side of your albums?

Its just as important as every other instrument. Vocal and lyrics goes hand in hand so its just as important as everything else in the music.

What do you think about the state of the music industry today?

Hmm,hard question. I just think that the world is in bad need of some good rock n' roll bands. Things today are to polished for my taste. Money had ruined a lot for the music industry but now it looks like were in a new time with spotify and all that. That's really good. It's sad that you loose the mystique and the whole thing about a record, reading in the booklet and so on.

What do you think is the best way to fight music piracy?

Just let them do it, a new way will be invented sooner or later. Spotify once again for example.

Do you have a life philosophy? If yes, what is it?

Beer keeps you in shape

Can you describe a typical day in your life?

Wake up drink coffee, go skate, eat skate more or rehearse ,drink beer or work.

What do you like to spend your time with besides music?'

Skateboarding a lot of times and having a couple of beers with friends. Writing, listening to music. And im also working two or three times/ week. Thats about it.

What's the craziest thing that has ever happened on a tour?

It always happens funny things on tour one thing was on the last italy tour when I feel asleep in the right room but on the wrong floor. I went in to this old ladys room and crashed right away. She yelled and went out of the hotel in the middle of the night. But I woke up in my own bed knowing nothing about it. Had to pay the owner some money but it was worth the good story.

You're heading off to live on a deserted island for a couple of years with your portable entertainment system... Which albums, movies or books would you bring? (Max. 3 of each)

Ooh damn thats a hard one but im just gonna take the first things that comes to mind.
Albums:

Rolling Stones-Let it bleed
The stooges-Fun House
Movies:
The Sopranos complete box
True Romance
Welcome to hell
Books:

What is your favourite joke?

one there were two tomatoes walking the street
one tomatoe stopped to pee on a electric fence
the other tomato turned around and saw his friend getting splashed by electritity
u know what he said then?
Catch up ( as in Ketchup)

Or two zombies were out walking and one of them said to the other
hey are u hungry?
sure brain.

Can you tell us about any future plans for you and your band?

Were just gonna write new songs for our next album and play as much live as we can. Tour and keep on rockin and rollin round the clock! Watch out europe in september/october!
