In 2007
RevelationZ Magazine reviewed
Innocent Rosie's first demo. After several line-up changes the band finally wrapped up their debut album on Swedmetal Records - released 2009.
The band also played the prestigious Sweden Rock festival and got your truly hooked once again. Compared to the demo
Innocent Rosie has moved away from being a true Hollywood inspired Sleaze band, since they capture more aspects of Rock music on "
Bad Habit Romance". The band chose to close their set at Sweden Rock festival with Iggy Pop's
Home, which understates that
Innocent Rosie also comes from a punk background - but in a cool sleazy kick ass way.
Overall "
Bad Habit Romance" is permeated by a great drive, attitude and crunchy guitars. Guitarist Joel Eliasson really fires off some great riffs. Even the few weaker songs on the album like
I'm a Vibe and
I'll Get Rich get interesting because of his tasty playing.
The best songs on the album are
Knock Me out, Bad Habit Romance and the trashy
Left Alone. The definitive highlight is
Wasteland. Every time I hear the opening riff to
Wasteland it reminds me of
XYZ Face Down in the Gutter, since the
crunchy guitar sound and kick-ass riff is similar to
XYZ's classic tune. Lead singer Oscar Kaleva has a great tone and he sounds best on another leading track
Animal, which is modern Hard Rock much alike Velvet Revolver.
The press release quotes a review from Classic Rock magazine saying" Their sound is like Skid Row's roadies in a knife fight with Guns N 'Roses' drug dealers". It actually fits quite well. "
Bad Habit Romance" certainly is one of the most positive surprises of 2009.
