Jaded Heart - Sinister Mind
Jaded Heart's new album builds upon the vibe of the latest and solid Helluva Time, which was a positive and fresh addition to the year 2005. This new one is even groovier and harsher, the well known melodic choruses kept intact.
The band has undergone some serious changes through their long career, their newest line-up sounds energetic and well oiled.

The first video of the album is for the opener Hero: A big pompous chorus fitted into a stomping rhythm section where heavy bass lines and a soft piano melody interact nicely.

The title track sounds as a firmly build groovy machinery, relentlessly crushing forward. This is Rock with a rich, dark shrouded volume.

Going Under unfortunately gets repetitive in the long run, See The Light captures some cool thrilling guitar soloing while Always On My Mind has a nice harmonious guitar lick, but never really gets interesting. All in all the twelve songs make up a rather uneven whole, even though they all bring a healthy amount of power to the table.

Heavenly Devotion is a success from start to finish though, thundering guitar work and elaborate drumming gets the tempo up and running while Johan Fahlberg's voice stands out clear and powerful in the strong chorus.

My favourite track on the album is the overwhelming compact Hellucinate, a catchy chorus delivered with immense force and cool keyboard passages are a couple of highlights.

The album has a serious lyrical side. Feelings of anger and a search for meaning run through the album, often materialised through critical comments of modern civilisation and our way of dealing with each other.

A special mention has to go to the sound for being quite extraordinary and with strong emphasis on the heavy and bass dominant rhythm section, I do miss a bit more warmth, but this baby kicks really hard.

In my opinion Helluva Time was just an inch more coherent and catchier but this is still an overall fierce strike of groovy Power Rock.

Second album of the second period of Jaded Heart, without Barish Kepic ... I've thinked this one should be crap, due to many evolutions of the band.
Now, I know "Sinister Mind" is a good stuff, however, they're playing a "hevy metal" song. I prefer "Helluva Time" which is a great melodic hard rock's album !
