DVD Review - Nasty Idols - Rejects on the Road
Nasty Idols returned to the music scene with a best of compilation plus reissues of their 3 albums. The comeback of Sweden's most trustworthy sleaze band is rounded off with this DVD.

"Rejects on the Road" is a live recording of the band from Malmoe, Sweden filmed in September 2006. We get most of Nasty Idols best tracks with B.I.T.C.H. and Killing stuff as only songs that diverge from being Nasty Idols greatest hits.

The concert is good without being exceptional. It only lasts 50 minutes and the definitive highlight is Andy Pierce picking up the acoustic for Can´t Get ya off My mind. Andy Pierce sounds great and has stage charisma. The reverb effect on the vocals doesn't do his vocals justice.

The live show left me with a taste of that this wasn't Nasty Idols performing their best. There is much interaction with the crowd, no bullshit talk- just music. Personally I would have preferred The Sweden Rock festival show.

That leads me to the 1-hour behind the scenes documentary "Return of the idols". This documentary is the best part of the DVD and worth the price alone. We get 3 songs from the first re-union gig at Sweden Rock festival.

There is extensive interviews and footage from all concerts at the Swedish leg of "Rejects on he Road" tour. The band seems to enjoy being back in the game and the documentary has several great moments like Andy Pierce playing an acoustic version of Europe´s hit Carrie at soundcheck.

The DVD is better than the average music DVD and the documentary, in Swedish but with subtitles, is great.

We demand more and hopefully a new studio album from Nasty Idols is coming up with all new material.
