Interview with Dick Qwarfort of Nasty Idols - Nasty Idols
Written by Michael

Hello Michael, it's Dick Qwarfort from Nasty idols, here you got the votes from the swedish jury:

You just released a new "Best of" collection and are about to reunite for a gig at this years Sweden Rock festival. Tell us about the "The Swedish Sleaze Collection" and also about the reunion.

What can I say, Our type of music is back again, we never thought it was gone and the media can't keep a good thing down forever. Sweden Rock Festival called us up, and the band thought it was a perfect time to get in those old rags again!

Do you have any other live shows planned and is there any chance of a new Nasty Idols album?

There will be a tour after the summer on various rockscenes. And Nasty Idols will rise once more from the depths of the sewer and believe you me it was deep..! A new Nasty album? A couple months ago I thougt we were dead and buried, now there's a suggestion to make a new album, it shows how unpredictible the musicindustry is. But requests from recordlabels have popped up to release a new album! Who knows? The spark is back but who knows for how long..?

What caused Nasty Idols to break up?

Differens of caracter I guess, but now it feels alright again. Rehearsals going grate and other stuff involving the band.

In brief can you please report what the various members have been up to since Nasty Idols broke up?

Playing in different bands like United Enemies, Majestic and some soloprojects. I myself been sleeping on the couch waiting for the phone to ring!

What is your opinion on the music scene right now?

Mostly all musicians are marionettes that tries to show off and do everything their recordcompany tells them to do, some bands even got other ones writing songs for them, what is that?

Some of your fans from back then are now indolent people in their 30's with house, car and wife. Is there a market for Nasty Idols in the year 2006?

Only time can tell, but the thing is that we've got new fans, that just discovered our type of sleazerock!

How do you see the new Swedish Glam/sleaze scene with Crash Diet (RIP), Hardcore Superstar, Gemini Five etc? Has the scene accelerated the comeback of Nasty Idols?

Everything in the musicbusiness comes back one way or the other, it's like a vicious circle. Our type of music is hype again and we would be idiots if we let this oppertunity go to waste!

Swedmetal is also about to re-release 3 Nasty Idols albums in re-mastered versions. In retrospective what are your thoughts on

Cruel Intention
The cool way of living track, it was the first Nasty Idols video showed on Mtv's Headbangers Ball and it's still gives me the shivers when I see that!

Vicious
Some of our best songs generated from that album, like "Head's down in Tinseltown", "Dance of the Wicked" and "R.I.P"!

Heroes for sale
Riding against the wind, would be a more proper album titel, because it involved changes in the band and death of sleazerockmusic at that time!

Are you satisfied with the newly remastered re-issues and do you think that the remastering added something to the "old" records?

It's grate, I don't know who many different versions of the albums I've got with altered covers and tracklists!

Nasty Idols' first album "Gigolos on Parade" isn't re-released and not represented on "The Swedish sleaze collection" Why?

It's CRAAAAP! With a capital C, The worst album ever made!

What do you feel is Nasty Idols' biggest achievement?

The album "Cruel Intention" It was the turning point for the band, just over one night we were in the majors!

If you could freeze one moment in your career and re-live it - what situation comes to mind?

Our opening concert for the "Cruel Intention" tour. It was in our home town at a rockplace called Kulturbolaget, and the whole crowd sang along to every song, they knew the lyrics better than Andy! Ha! Ha!

From the entire Nasty Idols song catalogue - Which songs are you most proud of and why?

If people ask what do you sound like, I always play "Head's down in Tinseltown", so It must be that one but then you got "Cool way of Living" and "Alive n' Kickin'!

Which song is your favorite song to perform live and why?

All of them! The show will mostly contain songs from the "Cruel Intention" album, but there will also be songs from the other ones. The concert includes the best of Nasty's career for Christ sake! So it better be good or else we can kiss our asses goodbye!

What aspects do you anticipate most concerning the re-union?

That we will have lots of fun one more time on the marry-go-round!

Any final words?

We're back and now it's personal..Ha! Ha!

Thank you so much for doing this interview and see you on Sweden Rock festival.

See ya' too, I hope we blow you're heads off! Got earpluggs everybody?
