Pure Inc. - A New Days Dawn
Pure Inc. managed to deliver the best debut album I heard in many years. "A New Days Dawn" is the always difficult album number two and again the Swiss rockers go straight to the core with hard pumping rock songs.

"A New Day's Dawn" is little bit mellower and more mature than the debut. The album is produced by Tommy Vetterli, who again provides the band with a powerful sound. Unfortunately the mix sounds a tiny muddy.

"A New Days Dawn" is a powerful cocktail of hard pumping heavy rock with strong melodies and superb vocals. Pure Inc. is based in traditional rock but with a modern touch to it and a shovelful of heavy pounding power as well.

The album contains 12 strong songs with no fillers except for Blvd. Jam, which is a short instrumental piece that leads to a classic Pure Inc. full blast song I'm a Rolling Stone

One of the main ingredients to the music of Pure Inc. is a competent and irresistible flair for groove. Bassists Gentman lays down a solid beat for Break Free, which has a very strong chorus. In general Pure Inc has kept the groovy flavor, but they are mellower exemplified on Crawling.

Guitarist Sandro Pellegrini was a huge experience on Pure Inc.'s debut album. Once again he comes up with some great heavy riffs but I could have wished for more solos and fills. His crunchy guitar drives the heavy opener Saviour. Pellegrini also delivers a tasty melodic solo on the title track - an acoustic driven ballad that closes the album.

Gianni Pontillo uses his voice as a very strong instrument and overall he is in vocal topform throughout the entire album. The songwriting formula is mostly a mellow verse that explodes in a powerful chorus - just listen to The thing you left on me and Sick as I am. One of the highlights is Skinflint, which has the best chorus on the whole disc. The verse comes off a bit messy with awry rhythm but that just makes the chorus even stronger.

"A New Days Dawn" is more diversified than the debut. Some of the songs are more up-tempo, while this album leaves room for several mellow tracks. Burst and I'll let you know are both power ballads - well, Burst is a power ballad played Pure Inc. style.

To this day Pure Inc.'s debut album still is frequent in my CD player and I have lived with "A New Days Dawn" for more than two months and it still grows on me. That is definitely a strong point in the music of Pure Inc.

The music Pure Inc holds so much nerve and power that most should envy. "A New Days Dawn" underlines that these guys are the future of heavy rock with emphasis on melodies but not at the expense of power.
