Pretty Boy Floyd is still going strong with Steve "Sex" Summers using different backing bands. However, this live recording from 2001 marks the last "real"
Pretty Boy Floyd release since original members
Kristy Majors and Steve Summers both play on this one.
The audience is very low in the mix, which makes it sound a bit fake. Personally I gained lots of respect for
Pretty Boy Floyd's songs and Steve Summers' vocals after I witnessed them
3 nights in a row earlier this year.
Despite the usual favorites from "Leather Boyz With Electric Toyz"
Pretty Boy Floyd also plays
Shock the World, which they introduce as an old song. I am familiar with the song on
Shameless "Queen for a Day" album featuring Summers on vocals and since his voice is so characteristic it's hard to tell the difference.
Shut Up is among the best songs - the formula is typical
Pretty Boy Floyd - melodic, glam, but still with edge. The song is splashing melodic.
Since the show only lasts for around 35 minutes 2 bonus tracks are thrown in as extra value.
Don't Save Your Love has a vintage PBF mark to it - probably because the song is an old demo. The fast chord changes, sweet harmonies on the verse and cheerful chorus make it a justified addition to this release since it ranks among the better PBF songs ever.
It's Still R&R to Me is a cover of the old Billy Joel classic - of course done PBF style
A recommendable live album for
Pretty Boy Floyd fans since Steve's vocals are strong and still sound the same. Kristy Krash Majors guitar burns through the music like a blowtorch and overall the band still sounds tight and not worn out even though the material is from the late eighties
