Tuesday, October 19, 2004 - Songs Mike Tramp left behind | While preparing for brand new European tour, Mike Tramp, former singer of White Lion and Freak of Nature, decided to look through his archives and compile some of the songs that were either demoed or recorded during the sessions of his solo-albums and simply were "left behind" for various reasons. Hence the titles of the new album "Songs I Left Behind".
Ranging back from 1992 to 2002, these songs are unique and classic and will leave any Tramp-fan beaming with happiness. A welcome bridge to the next studio-album which will be released in 2005 on Frontiers Records.
Currently Mike Tramp tours Europe. · Discuss this news further (0) |

Other information Mike was a teenage star in Denmark fronting the band Mabel. The band wanted to change musical style and territories and moved to Spain.
Mike Tramp wanted to follow his dreams and went to New York to pursue his goals. (This is documented on the song Follow Your Dreams from his 2002 album "Recovering the Wasted Years").
Mike teamed up with guitar virtuoso Vito Bratta and together they formed White Lion, which was about to become one of the most successful Hard Rocks acts of the 80's. White Lion was an amazing band fronted by Mike, who also contributed with some great lyrics on White Lion's album. Most memorable lyrics are off "Big Game" from 1989. The song Little Fighter was about the Greenpeace ship Rainbow Warrior and the fantastic Cry for Freedom was about apartheid. Broken Home also had strong lyrics about families breaking up and the kids being the losers.
After White Lion broke up Mike formed Freak Of Nature. Freak of Nature played more groovy Rock with 2 guitars - one for each speaker. They released 3 amazing albums, which unfortunately never saw the day of light in the US. So if you are a fan of Mike Tramp and haven't got all 3 Freak of Nature albums I strongly encourage you to order them now.
Since Mike Tramp has released 3 solo albums. The style on his solo records is more traditional Rock n Roll. I have read an interview, where Mike was comparing White Lion as Mike playing Tennis, Freak of Nature as playing Rugby and his solo stuff as playing Golf. I should take up golfing then, because his solo albums are all masterpieces. His strong voice is still the trademark of his high quality music.
Having met Mike Tramp myself I cannot think of a person, who is more dedicated and passionate about his music. He is the real deal breathing Rock 'n' Roll. Quoting from Don't Take my Rock 'n' Roll 2002:
You take all my money
You can take my fancy car
You can take the bed I sleep in
But don't you take my Rock 'n' Roll
Solo albums:
Capricorn (1997)
Recovering the Wasted Years (2002)
More to Life than This (Due out in April 2003)
