Cryogenic are a German Black Metal band and they experiment with lots of keyboard elements. Really the keys take quite a large roll in the band's sound to the point of carrying some of the lead melodies that normally you find a guitar playing. Some bands have tried this to only fail and the sounds never quite coming together.
Cryogenic have not fallen into that trap thank God. The keys and guitars work really well together and independently of each other too. Some will hear a little Bal Sagoth influence but not to the degree that you would consider it a ripoff. Quite frankly
Cryogenic do it better anyway! haha
The production is very good and this second release finds them as tight as ever and breaking new ground. As far as I can tell the lyrics are all in German so I have no idea what they are saying in the vocal parts. There are clean vocals, spoken parts, and the traditional Black metal screech vocals.
What I really liked also were the almost
Pink Floyd sounding sections that popped up from time to time. Some would call this a Psychedelic element to the music but I feel like that word is overused and misrepresents alot of metal elements found in Black metal these days. Psychedelic as a word provides an "ugliness" that really betrays the beauty of these quiet, more relaxed, parts in the music of so many bands these days.
There are some nice 70's progressive rock elements here and there as well, that provide yet more diversity to the music. I can hear the aforementioned Bal Sagoth influence and some more stuff like Enslaved's newest "Below The Lights" sounds as well as some
Mors Principium Est new style Melodic Death as well. Throw in are some scarce, but recognisable YES flavors too.
A really nice and diverse Black metal album with great depth and an overall giant scope to each song presented here. The songs have many sections to them but not an overkill that makes you forget where you are in the songs.
I am really at a loss for band member info as the bio and promo materials were written in a broken English and there is no website as of yet that I am aware of. Only contact email addresses.
This is tough because I want to recommend you to this album as a worthy addition to anyones Black metal collection. Here is a contact email address for you to try and get a hold of more info and possibly buy the album:

Keep your eyes and ears open, these guys are on the way to a significant place in Black metal history!
I would only ask that they put a couple of songs into English so the majority of the metal world can hear what they are saying!:)
