Tidfall - Nucleus
Tidfall blend a slew of electronica elements in their modern Dimmu Borgir derivative style of Black Metal. Say The Chemical Brothers went Black Metal and added a real drummer then you will get what's going on here. This is technical Black metal, forward thinking but firmly rooted in ground being tread on by others who do it just as well. Don't take that as a bad thing. This is a welcome addition to a burgeoning style of metal happening these days! As my bio indicates I am not the biggest fan of Black Metal.. That however has started to change. I still don't like the hopelessness and dark for dark's sake lyrics but the music has just grown on me and I realise that this form of metal is truly the only form that continues to grow and change, and all that for the better, I might add.

My saving grace is that i can't understand the lyrics most of the time and when dealing with promos like this I don't get a full booklet with the lyrics in it...this is probably a good thing! haha
So I am judging this book by it's cover so to speak since i have no lyrics to go by. That leaves me to write based on the music contained within.

That being said....the music kicks the ass man! hehe

These guys are tight and talented and they play a variety of speeds and the electronica stuff is a really nice twist to this brand of extreme heavy metal.
Here are some more popular in the front bands that will give you an idea of what to expect from Tidfall. Dimmu Borgir, Emperor, Satyricon, Old Man's Child, And Oceans and the like. Tidfall come in the same area as these bands but you can tell them apart no problem.

Sample it at www.tidfall.net and get a look at these crazy guys for the visual side of things :) Of particuler coolness is the album cover. Oddly beautiful cover for such a dark band. Actually would make a nice techno album cover and I think it does well to represent the techno elements found in the Tidfall wall of sound!

Abraxas (guitar), Aftaneldr (synths), Drako Arcane (Guitar), Sorg (Bass and Vox) and Zarthon (drums) have made an album that firmly sets them in the "black" top 10 pantheon of the latest and greatest Black Metal monsters!

Add it to the collection man!
