On the Rise - On the rise
The two guys behind On the rise, Terje Eide (Vocals, guitar) and Bennech Lyngboe (Vocals) have created a consistent album filled with catchy Rock songs. They both sing lead and backing vocals and are able to create some excellent harmonies, much in the same vein as Nelson.

Terje handles all guitars on the album, both electric and acoustic and it's a pleasure listening to him playing one fitting solo after another. The whole album is filled with solid melodic guitar work.

The opening song Beat of your heart is actually one of my least favourite. The lyrics are just too cheesy for me and the song is a little too simple with the chorus being repeated way too many times. After that, the excellent Lift you up sets the standard for the rest of the album. The guitar playing is more aggressive and the fantastic vocal harmonies really show themselves in this song.

Songs like Running in the night, Stay away and Two young hearts are all catchy and well written songs that help make up a consistent album. Leaps and bounds has a great vibe and contains another fantastic chorus.

A couple of ballads have also found their way to the album. Memories forever, including a brilliant emotional guitar solo, and the beautiful The moment are both high class and showcase the great vocals. Keep our love alive doesn't quite reach the other two and doesn't really 'come alive'... The same lines and melodies keep repeating themselves throughout the song.

My personal favourite is Sadness hits like a stone. This one combines all the things that are good about this band. Catchy melodies, great drive, excellent guitar solos and vocal harmonies. Another interesting thing is the happy vibe of the music in contrast to the 'sad' lyrics.

Other favourites include: World of change and Pride, which are both carried by cool choruses and great guitar work.

There is nothing revolutionary or new here, just well performed Melodic Rock, that should appeal to all fans of that genre. Especially fans of bands like Nelson, Dakota (Last standing man) and Journey will find much to enjoy here.

This is music that will make you feel good and perfect for a summer afternoon at the beach.
