Oratory - Beyond Earth
Oratory play Power Metal with high amounts of, in front symphonic keyboard, and a bombastic edge. I will comment on some songs that should describe the album pretty well.

Beyond Earth is a pretty fast song with some great detailed and forceful drums. The main rhythm is tight, but also a bit too bombastic. The female vocals are fitting and sound ok. The keyboard is very overdone, it is not badly played; it just takes up too much space. The song has a lot of power to offer, and some melodic guitar leads.

Your Glory Won't Last Forever has some tame vocal lines where intensity is lacking, and the chorus is completely overdone and sounds much too bombastic. The heavy riffing sounds in order, and the technical break is also of high quality. The solid rhythm section is pretty constant through the album. This song has both good and bad elements.

The beginning of Victory Of Light features some melodic guitar leads. The chorus on the other hand, with raw male voices and soft female counteracts, is not working very well, and it is a good example of the bad chorus arrangements that pop up once in a while. The constant symphonic keyboard that seems without much direction creates a distant atmosphere, and overall this aspect is a problem for the album.

A New Quest has a happy melody and a direct approach. The chorus is catchy and working well with the rhythm, which is very powerful. The keyboards are successful in this song, balanced in good combination with the other instruments. A good song and the best on the album.

Lyrically the album is kind of mystic/fantasy related. Fight against evil, heroes and space adventures. It is hard to say if they are much good, I find them a bit ordinary.

The sound on the record is very intense, and overall the raw rhythm functions, although the keyboard takes up much too much room. The vocal/chorus passages are not exactly a plus for the record either. It sounds like a bad and silly variation of the classic Accept choruses. A part from that the instruments are well balanced, and the sound is very tight.

The too raw and overdone choruses, plus the keyboard arrangements, which are used out of proportions, is a big minus to the record.

The very powerful and technical played drums, nicely combined with a solid bass performance are working well. The heavy guitar riffs and melodic leads, which are found in many songs, is one of the best things on this record. The vocals are melodic and fitting at times, but they also sounds a bit tame and monotone, so I am not that impressed here.

I find many songs to be based on a standard melody and not having too many interesting arrangements or passages. Some songs have a standard chorus that makes them fade a bit..
Still there are some cool melodic elements here and there, and a powerful rhythm section through the album.

You didn't understand the lyrics because you don't know that this is a conceptual album based on the book "Os Lusiadas" from portuguese XVI century writer Luis Vaz de Camões... If you read the booklet, or at least their bio, you would understand it...

Well I wouldn't say that I don't understand the lyrics, I paid a lot of attention to what was vocally performed.
About the concept, I received no information on this band or album what so ever, even though I searched for more info, I didn't find this fact.
Basically the most important thing is that the music to me simply isn't very exiting and lacks some diversity. But as you can read in the review it also has its better moments.

4.5/10 is an insult for a great album like this one..it deserves 8/10 for sure (maybe you should listen the album again?).

Huge improvement over their first. My only criticism is that the sound gets a bit grating after awhile. It just doesn't quite flow like it should.
