Dave Evans - A hell of a Night
Dave Evans was AC/DC's vocalist before Bon Scott joined the band. This live recording is a tribute to the late Bon Scott recorded on February 19th 2002 - exactly on the 20th anniversary of his tragic death in London.

The first 4 songs are all songs that Dave Evans used to sing, when he was in AC/DC. The show opens with Can I Sit Next To You Girl, which was the first song AC/DC ever recorded. Dave Evans recorded the song with the band, which was cut as a single produced by Harry Vanda and Malcolm and Angus's older brother George Young. Later AC/DC's bus driver Bon Scott took Dave Evans place and the rest is Rock history.

Overall Dave Evans is singing his guts out and still has some great pipes. Just before the solo on Rock 'N' Roll Singer Dave sings "Gonna be a Rock N Roll singer, Gonna be a Rock N Roll star,.. Then I joined my band" instead of original lyrics "...I hear it pays well". There is a lot of truth to that statement, cool. The band performing with Dave Evans is the Australian AC/DC cover band Thunderstruck. These guys sound very close to the real thing. On this recording we even get a non-album track Rockin' in the Parlour, which is classic AC/DC style.

The last 4 songs are representing AC/DC's Bon Scott era. Dave Evans pays a beautiful tribute to his replacement with a fantastic version of It's a Long Way to the Top. Even the bag pipe solo is performed live on stage.

Even though not listed Bonny leads the introduction to Highway to Hell, which finish this performance.

The show was recorded in a small Melbourne Tavern in front of an enthusiastic crowd. The sound on this Live recording is really good incorporating the true spirit of the concert.

With a total playing time of only 40 minutes this album leaves you wanting more.

This fantastic recording is highly recommendable for all old school AC/DC fans.

Thanks Paul.
Either way the lyrics are cool. I was also thinking "The he joined my band", which would be the perfect reference to Bon Scott on his memorial night.

By the way the correct link to Dave Evans' web-site is:
