Monday, April 5, 2010 - Vanden Plas Album News
The new album from Vanden Plas is called The Seraphic Clockwork and will be released on June 4th via Frontiers Records. The eight songs that appear on the album were recorded at Bazement Studio by engineer Markus Teske and produced by the band.

The story of the concept album was written by singer Andy Kuntz and tells about a journey in time. The protagonist, who lives in 16th century Rome, comes under the spell of an Old Testament prophecy. He travels back to Jerusalem in the year 33 anno Domini where he must face his God-given destiny.

Guitarist Stephan Lill about the new album: "I think that my preference for heavier bands shines through more than ever before. Heavy riffs, elaborate keyboard and orchestra arrangements plus catchy hook lines come together in a perfect symbiosis which marks Vanden Plas' characteristic style. I feel that we were much more adventurous on The Seraphic Clockwork than ever before."

Vanden Plas has issued the following update:

"A new Vanden Plas album is on the horizon! Stephan (Lill, guitarist) has already composed 12 new songs and Andy (Kuntz, vocalist) is working on the lyrics and vocal lines. There will also be more songs coming from Günter (Werno, keyboardist) and Andy. Which songs and how many will be featured on the CD will also depend on the story (more info to follow). The band is thinking about a release in fall 2009. Once again, the band will work together with engineer Markus Teske and the album will be recorded at Bazement Studio near Wiesbaden, Germany."

Other information
Vanden Plas is a unique Progressive Metal band from Germany. Their approach is very varied, from very slow symphonic/orchestral ballads, over mid-tempo technical songs with many changing parts to more Power Metal orientated tracks with lots of technical riffing and energy.

The keyboard is a central instrument and it creates some extremely atmospheric and melodic parts.

The drums are very powerful, and the bass has some great detail. The vocals are well balanced and have a fantastic emotional edge. On the guitar level there are many great riffs, some very hard parts and many melodic solo's

On the lyrical level the band focus on spiritual themes like the condition of the soul, inner thoughts and feelings, philosophical topis like life, death, inner peace.

Their latest two releases Far Off Grace and Beyond Daylight capture the different elements of the band in a beautiful way, very emotional, highly progressive and with interesting lyrics.
