Great White - Rising
Great White is one of the best blues-based Hard Rock bands ever. The last years have been rough for the band but luckily they decided to stick together and keep making music.

In 2009 the band released their latest effort "Rising". The album is a bit mellower, but certainly a grower.  Great White has kept 4 original members namely singer Jack Russell, whose characteristic vocals defines the band and the guitar duo Mark Kendall and Michael Lardie plus drummer Audie Desbrow. Scott Snyder from Accomplice is handling the bass and is now a steady member.

The up-tempo Danger Zone grabs you immediately and Jack Russell belting out the line "Jack is back" warms the heart of this Great White fan. You got to be patient with several songs like the ballad Only You can Do, which wins after several listens. The songwriting is deep and Jack Russell is very trustworthy as a singer since he manages to put his heart and soul in each song.

Great White's comeback record "Back to the Rhythm" from 2006 was the first sign from the band in 8 years. On "Back to the Rhythm" they used the classic Great White formula for all songs. "Rising" is much more daring plus challenging and therefore it will divide listeners and fans.

Great White has slowed down the tempo a bit, but the quality of the song writing remains intact: I Don't Mind and the groovy Shine are also among the great tunes.

Great White will perform an exclusive European show at Stockholm Rock out and hopefully they will air Loveless from this album. The beat and catchy chorus of Loveless will convince everyone that Great White is a necessary rock name anno 2010. I can't wait!

Saw them at The Cathouse in Glasgow several years back. Great show. (CC Deville was support act . . . what fun we had).
