The Fallen - Front Toward Enemy
The Fallen is a band from USA, that according to the band itself, plays a mixture of power, death and thrash metal. The band was discovered when they won the Metal Search 2000 sponsored by Metal Blade Records and MP3.com.

In general you can hear that all the members are good musicians - they all master their instruments well, and there are some quite technical passages in some of the songs. Unfortunately the music never really becomes interesting, and everything is "heard before" - they don't really succeed to take advantage of their obvious potential.

The vocals are another downside to this album - they quickly become annoying, and the lack of variation is really irritating for the listener.

The title number Front Toward Enemy is an average number, which is pretty straight forward. I was impressed with the drums when I first heard this number, but after several "listen-throughs" I realized that they weren't very varied after all.

The best and last song on the album is Eleven Years and it is almost 10 minutes long. With exception of the vocals this number is pretty good. It is fast, and it has some quiet passages as well. The song ends with acoustic guitar and clean vocals.

I can't give this album more than 4/10 - it doesn't appeal to me, but of course it might appeal to others.
