Other information Band Profile
What is your name and your current position in the band? Jim. How would you categorize the style of the band? And did you ever consider or try playing other styles of music than the one(s) you are playing now? We play orthodox doom metal until we cease to exist. What is your latest album and why should people buy it? It's called ?The Peaceful Dead?. We don't care if people buy it or not. Tell us about the history of the band. More specifically, when was the band formed, how did you meet, and have there been any particular highlights or low points in your career, any crucial events that have taken you where you are today? We have formed in 1990. Being able to play doom metal that long in the same line-up for sure is the biggest highlight. There have been no lowlights. Not even a career. Just doom. Was there ever a time when you wondered if your band would remain just a local outfit and never make it in the industry? We never made it in the industry and we certainly don't care about the business at all. We put out our albums whenever we feel it's time to. No stress at all. Can you share with us one or two of your favourite moments with the band? The first great moment was the release of our first real album in 1998. The second was the release of our new album. How is the writing process in the band? Very, very slow. Whenever someone has a song idea we toy around with that until we shape the final song out of it. What brought you on the path to becoming a musician? Did you ever consider or take any other paths through life besides music? I decided to become a musician at the age of 4 already. I always knew that I would never stop making music at all. There was and there is no alternative. Do you have any idols? If yes, who? Scott Reagers, Jim Morrison and King Diamond. Do you have any regrets looking back at your career? For example any songs or even full albums that you regret recording? If so, what made you regret it? No regrets. Are there particular songs in your catalogue that the fans love but you're not particular fond of yourself? Nope. How important do you rate the lyrical side of your albums? The lyrics are as important as the music. What do you think about the state of the music industry today? The bigger labels suffer and with them the pop business. May they all die in pain. The metal business is alive and well because metal fans still BUY their music. All hail to the metal underground. What do you think is the best way to fight music piracy? Kill all who download music without paying and those who provide that shit. Problem solved. Do you have a life philosophy? If yes, what is it? Eye for an eye. Can you describe a typical day in your life? Shit, shower, breakfast, work, lunch, metal, sleep. What do you like to spend your time with besides music? Beer and weed. What's the craziest thing that has ever happened on a tour? We played a gig totally sober and didn't suck. You're heading off to live on a deserted island for a couple of years with your portable entertainment system... Which albums, movies or books would you bring? (Max. 3 of each) I'd go for albums only: Bal-Sagoth/Starfire burning upon the ice-veiled throne of Ultima Thule Mercyful Fate/Melissa Saint Vitus/Hallows Victim The Doors/The Doors Manowar/Into Glory Ride Witchfinder General/Death Penalty Trouble/The Skull Fates Warning/Awaken The Guardian Carnivore/Carnivore What is your favourite joke? The pope. Can you tell us about any future plans for you and your band? To stay active as long as possible and record another album in 2019, latest. Thanks for answering these questions. Now you are free to write a few lines to our readers. Support the underground.
