Band Profile

What is your name and your current position in the band?

Hi! I'm Elisa "Over" De Palma, vocalist.

Hi! I'm Tony "Mad", guitar player.

How would you categorize the style of the band? And did you ever consider or try playing other styles of music than the one(s) you are playing now?

Elisa: At the moment we play some kind of classic heavy metal. Yes, I've thought about playing thrash metal, I've done it in the past and probably I will in the future again.

What is your latest album and why should people buy it?

Elisa: "Forever Fight", just came out in march. We're very proud of it, it's a new step for White Skull band, many news in the line up but the soul remains the same..

Tony: Of course the same answer.

Tell us about the history of the band. More specifically, when was the band formed, how did you meet, and have there been any particular highlights or low points in your career, any crucial events that have taken you where you are today?

Tony: About the Band story is really long and I invite all the guys to visit our homepage www.whiteskull.it and our my space page www.myspace.com/whiteskullband. There, the people can read a lot of information about us.

Was there ever a time when you wondered if your band would remain just a local outfit and never make it in the industry?

Elisa: I never really expect anything but I hope in everything.

Tony: The same answer.

Can you share with us one or two of your favourite moments with the band?

Tony: Every time with a band is my favourite moment. The best one is when we are on stage.

How is the writing process in the band?
Elisa: we've been working in different ways: sometimes we meet and just play, jamming all together and pointing to the most interesting riffs that come out. Most often 2-3 of us meet and write some stuff, then they send it to the others who complete it. Finally we meet all together for the last steps. Voice comes at last, I prepare the melodies by my own at home and record them at the pc for the rest of the band.

What brought you on the path to becoming a musician? Did you ever consider or take any other paths through life besides music?

Elisa: when music is your passion, it's very difficult to imagine your life without it. When Heavy Metal is your passion then, you have no chance: you have to play in a metal band!

Do you have any idols? If yes, who?

Elisa: well, I admire Bobby Blitz for his voice and his true attitude.

Tony: Iron Maiden all the Band Members and Biff Biford from Saxon.

Do you have any regrets looking back at your career? For example any songs or even full albums that you regret recording?  If so, what made you regret it?

Elisa: this is my first album  with the band, so.. any regret at all, hehe!

Tony: only one desire: To remix The XIII Skull, I don't like the sound of the final mix.

Are there particular songs in your catalogue that the fans love but you're not particular fond of yourself?

Tony: no, I like all the songs we wrote. Every time is really difficult to decide the show set list, I like all songs, but there are no time to play all the songs, ah ah ah. Sometimes in our rehearsal room we like to play old songs.

How important do you rate the lyrical side of your albums?

Elisa: I always consider lyrics very important in the music. Our albums are always based on historical periods on which are based the stories in each song. So I think it's mostly important to read them.

What do you think about the state of the music industry today?

Elisa: No way for the underground. You arrive if you have money.

What do you think is the best way to fight music piracy?

Elisa: probably have to decrease the prices of CDs!!

Tony: I think is impossible, with internet the music is free.

Do you have a life philosophy? If yes, what is it?

Elisa: live and let live. I hate the spites of the stupid little people.

Tony: live and let live, don't do tomorrow what you can do today, every day could be the last.

Can you describe a typical day in your life?

Elisa: wake up at seven and bring my daughter to school. Then I start my PC and work for my on-line shop. At 1:30 pm I pick my daughter from school and have lunch. My whole day is dedicated to my daughter and my job, and when I can find some free time I study lyrics and release for the upcoming shows.

Tony: I have no typical day, everyday is different.

What do you like to spend your time with besides music?

Elisa: I like good movies and good books but I admit I have no freetime!!

Tony: running my Bike, practise martial arts, read book and watch movie.

What's the craziest thing that has ever happened on a tour?

Tony: I remember tons of funny craziest moments, is difficult to remember which are the best one. I could write a book. In the last gig Jo's hair (Jo is bass player) stuck in the tune machine of my guitar, was totally crazy because he tried to back but he had no chance to free the hair. With a big hit I tore up his hair, you can imagine my guitar with a bunch of Jo's hair.

You're heading off to live on a deserted island for a couple of years with your portable entertainment system... Which albums, movies or books would you bring? (Max. 3 of each)

Elisa:
Albums: Overkill: Feel the Fire, Iron Maiden: Peace of mind, Metallica: Master of Puppets.
Movies: The Others, Bruce Almighty.
Books: Montague Rhodes James "Ghosts Stories of an Antiquary"

Tony:
Albums: Iron Maiden: Live after death, Saxon: Wheels of Steel, ACDC: Back in Black
Movies: Braveheart, Serpico, Scent of a Woman
Books: The Pilaster of the Earth.

What is your favourite joke?

Elisa: joke? I haven't got a great sense of humour..

Tony: I like to joke with Band Guys, everytime new joke and everytime I catch them like fish.

Can you tell us about any future plans for you and your band?

Elisa: first of all live shows to promote the album. Then we'd like to record a live dvd but let's see if it will be possible.. Then of course we'd like to record a new album, and so on for years.. heheh!

Tony: the same.

Thanks for answering these questions. Now you are free to write a few lines to our readers.

Elisa: thank you for the interview! I hope we'll have the chance to come and play in your country and if it will happen, let's see you at the battle!

Tony: Really Thanx to our fans for great support, see ya' on the road!!!
Heavy Metal is the Law!!!
