What is your name and your current position in the band? Esa Englund, leadsinger How would you categorize the style of the band? And did you ever consider or try playing other styles of music than the one(s) you are playing now? Metal What is your latest album and why should people buy it? Evil Never Sleeps/ 2007. Great songs that grows more and more you listen to them Tell us about the history of the band. More specifically, when was the band formed, how did you meet, and have there been any particular highlights or low points in your career, any crucial events that have taken you where you are today? Formed 1996 as a cover band just for fun. We didn't know each other more then that we played in local bands and i was( and still is) living in the neighbour town. 1996 the phone rang and Ola asked if i would like to sing in a cover band just for fun. We went to Estonia-96 and did a out door festival for over 2000 people.. great show! And lot of boose..... Was there ever a time when you wondered if your band would remain just a local outfit and never make it in the industry? Have not thought in those terms it comes if it has to come..ok to get a record deal has always been a dream since i was a teenager that has not been no1. Just to have a band and get gigs. Can you share with us one or two of your favourite moments with the band? Sweden rock kick off 2007 in Stockholm we played the same evening at a club near by the event and Udo was invited to the sweden rock kick off . After the event the sweden rock staff and UDO went to the club we played at and we did Balls to the wall for him and i talked to him after the show he was really cool guy..cool moment for me! How is the writing process in the band? Me and Ola and Fredrik are the main writers but we do it all together. Some times someone has a whole song idea and sometimes we put together fragments of riffs from each other it's kind of team work and then comes lyrics mainly from me but that's also a teamwork at the end What brought you on the path to becoming a musician? Did you ever consider or take any other paths through life besides music? The record Made in Japan by Deep Purple and Sabbath bloody Sabbath/ Black Sabbath The first band i joined as a singer ( at the age of 12) i was told that i was never going to learn to play a guitar i got pissed and brought a guitar and started to practise as hell after a couple of months i showed the bandmembers and we never talked about it never again..... Do you have any idols? If yes, who? That little ol' band from Texas...ZZ Top Do you have any regrets looking back at your career? For example any songs or even full albums that you regret recording? If so, what made you regret it? Music is life ..no regrets Are there particular songs in your catalogue that the fans love but you're not particular fond of yourself? No How important do you rate the lyrical side of your albums? Vey much but it's very hard to wright a good lyric in English What do you think about the state of the music industry today? It's sad that the musicians wont get a decent paycheck thanks to those pirate downloads What do you think is the best way to fight music piracy? I don't know Do you have a life philosophy? If yes, what is it? None Can you describe a typical day in your life? Go to work, spend some time at the computer, practice with the band What do you like to spend your time with besides music? In summer go out with my family with our boat get a tan, grab a beer, relaxe In winter do some sport to be in good shape for the summer..... What's the craziest thing that has ever happened on a tour? There has been some really crazy things but that's our little secrect. Booze has always been involved that's all i can say..sorry You're heading off to live on a deserted island for a couple of years with your portable entertainment system... Which albums, movies or books would you bring? (Max. 3 of each) Movie Rockstar with Wahlberg, Gladiator. Albums with Lamb of god, Symphony X, Masterplan. Can you tell us about any future plans for you and your band? To finish the 2nd album release it and then go on tour..... Thanks for answering these questions.
