The Sandmen - Shine
In the period of 1988-1994 The Sandmen delivered great rock records. Starting out with country rock leading them into Hard Rock and ending with a modern shape of Rock. The band took a long break but reformed in 2006 and released the brilliant album "White Trash Red Front"

The "White Trash Red Front" album was done hot on the heels of a long reunion tour and the many concerts made that record strong since most songs already had been tested live. This time Sandmen fled to a Swedish studio to record "Shine"

"Shine" is more spontaneous and modern with drum loops and effects. The focal point of the band is still singer Alan Vegenfeldt and thank god for that. Vegenfeldt is strong rock singer with a raspy voice. His voice is perfect for Rock N' Roll and Vegenfeldt certainly is the highlight of the album, since Sandmen sometimes drift away in effects and trying out new ideas meaning that they forget to rock.

"Shine" has a handful of really strong songs with the dark Discordia as the most irresistible track. "Shine" is a good album but doesn't reinforce The Sandmen return as one of the strongest rock bands around. Check out this album for yourself and if you get the chance go see The Sandmen live, since they always deliver in concert.
