Enuff Z'nuff - Tonight Sold out
The press release:

When you talk about the 80's hair metal phenomenon, you simply cannot omit Enuff Z'Nuff, the power-pop quartet from Chicago, Illinois. During their long and adventurous career the band managed to record over eleven full-length albums, four live albums and two compilations. "Tonight - Sold Out" is their most recent live offering, capturing the stunning performance the group gave in 2007. The album brings all of the band's classic compositions and proves that Enuff Z'Nuff still haven't lost their touch when it comes to delivering pure rock energy! Enuff Z'Nuff's history shows a band which had to struggle with many difficulties in their career, but eventually managed to remain a strong and inspiring figure on the hard rock scene. "Tonight - Sold Out" brings this legend to life, with a unique set of eleven classic songs that will rock you to the bone.

The facts:

The live recording is NOT from 2007. Enuff Z'nuff has been fronted by Johnny Monaco in the period 2003 till recently. Singer Donnie Vie wasn't in the band in 2007, but he sings on this record.

Derek Frigo plays guitar on this release, but Derek Frigo passed away May 2004. There is no doubt that this is Derek Frigo's very characteristic playing style.

This release was originally released by Crash Music USA in September 2007 with the exact same track list. The only song that is newer than 1993 is Someday, which was featured on 1999's "Paraphernalia". However, Someday is NOT on this disc despite stated. Instead there is a mix up so track 10 is Let it Go and track 11 is New Thing.

That brings me to the conclusion. There are no "new" songs on "Tonight sold out" - in fact this is the same recording, which in 1997 was released as "Enuff Z'nuff Live". The only difference is the inclusion of Let it Go, which isn't listed. However, Let it Go was on "Extended Versions" from 2004, which again was the similar to "Enuff Z'Nuff live" with the addition of Let it Go.

Hmmm. So basically "Tonight Sold out" is the third release of the same live album. That being said I don't care, but I react since die-hard fans are fooled to buy the album because of Someday, but that is a fraud.

The music:

The authentic recording is from somewhere between 1988 and 1990. Enuff Z'nuff only played Social Disease and Runaway in their very early days. The live recording displays a very flourishing band centered on Donnie Vie's unique voice and Derek Frigo's chops. This was Enuff Z'nuff when they were "hair band" with flashy guitars, but still superb song writing.

"Tonight Sold out" is a great live recording but a "sell out" if you own either "Live" or "Extended versions" by Enuff Z'Nuff.
