Vader - Litany
The Polish death metal band Vader is becoming more and more popular - and when you listen to Litany you can hear why. Sit back and fasten your seatbelt or grab on to your favorite chair for the next 30 minutes. The keywords for this album are: speed, aggression, insane chaotic piston-like drums and more speed! The drummer Doc is really what impresses me the most about this band - you have to hear the album to know what I mean.

The vocalist Peter Wiwezarek has a really dark and brutal voice, and it fits just fine with the rest of the music. In general the guitar riffs used are relatively simple, but very fast and also very good.

There are no bad tracks on this album, but I have chosen to concentrate on the ones I like best.

Wings is the first track on the album, and it pretty much tells what to expect of the rest of the album. The double bass drums in this number are very fast and almost hypnotizing. But let's not forget the guitar - the guitar riffs are really cool in this song too. You will find yourself singing along with this great song in no time.

The One Made Of Dreams is a very short and compact number. It is 1 minute and 49 seconds long, but it doesn't even feel that long. It has a really cool guitar riff, and the same ultra fast drums.

The title number Litany was the first track I really liked on this album, and it is also extremely catchy. Don't expect to know the lyrics for this one right away though (hence litany).

Cold Demons is my favorite track on the album - the song is about tanks (and firing them). It has a really cool intro which is followed by very fast paced guitar riff. The fast drums are of course also present in this song, but here it comes in outbursts. The last part of the song is really great - Peter yells "fire!" and it is followed by a nice tank fire. This is repeated 4 times in a row. It may sound a bit silly - but hear it, and I'm sure you will agree it is very cool. This song makes me want to join the army and blow up things (who said metal was bad for you?).

The last track I would like to mention is A World Of Hurt. It has a lot in common with The One Made Of Dreams - it is very compact, fast and short! But it also has a quite catchy refrain.

Overall this album is very good - it is not like anything I have ever heard before. If you like fast death metal this is really an essential album. The only problem with this album is that it is way too short! There is also a music video for Cold Demons included on the CD. The video is by the way really cool; it is naturally about tanks blowing things up.

I listened to this album and right away made a entry into my list of my favourite albums of all time. Drumming is jus 2 good and not to forget its real catchy riffs. Betrayer's totally justified in his statement.
