Bret Michaels, lead singer of Poison!
"Open up and say ahh" was among the prominent soundtracks to my teenage years. Growing up watching Super Channel and MTV Bret Michaels was a true Rock star. Poison rarely played Europe, which helped create a mystique around this American Rock band and charismatic singer.
Some might claim Bret Michaels' career lies in the past. However, one must recognize that Poison sold 25 million records worldwide and ever since Poison started their summer rock circus Poison has been playing big theatres and arenas.
Now Michaels tries to find love once again via this celebre dating show. The concept is simple:
25 women battle (and I mean literally battle each other) in hope to win Michaels attention and love.
To quote Bret himself "I come with a lot of baggage" and despite being a middle aged man he sure knows how to enjoy life. Bret Michaels has a typical "Rock star" behavior towards women since he probably makes out with at least 10 women and sleeps with a few as well.
Each episode Bret determines a challenge for the girls. Bret picks some of his hobbies for the girls to compete in like Motorcross and football. The girls get to see him in his right element on stage in front of fans and in general he tests them whether they can handle being girlfriend to a touring rock musician.
Vh1 Rock of Love is just amusing because there is such much drama, backstabbing and bad mouthing. You soon pick your own favorites and try to watch Michaels' back since some girls are there for exposure only.
Bret Michaels actually stands out as a nice caring person, who is pretty straight forward. Personally I was hoping for more footage with affiliation to his music career.
I won't ruin the surprise by saying who Michaels picks as his Rock of Love. The premier episode is where Bret Michaels invites the girls' parents to the house. The poor Rock star sure has his hands full and it is the most entertaining episode.
Overall "Rock of Love" is good clean family entertainment you can trust.
